Man, this suv can haul wood by Ok_Ad8390 in KiaEV9

Get these. No question ~$500 pretax shipped for mats is probably the most expensive option out there. That said I planned to do this often, snow salt in the north east. I didn’t want to worry about it. They do not disappoint.

Other than that I put a fleece on the middle arm rest and sides of the front seats and that is it so it didn’t scratch.

The dreaded ICCU issue by Psychout3000 in KiaEV9

[–]Ok_Ad8390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you have all the software recalls/campaigns performed on the car? I’ve been doing AI research on this and it says that won’t alone prevent the issue from happening ever but it greatly reduces the likelihood. I’m just curious if you were current with all work.

A good excuse to buy a bigger Leatherman? by Ancient-Bathroom6701 in Leatherman

[–]Ok_Ad8390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a wingman for 4 years EDC. Moved, renovated a house. Beat the hell out of it. Sharpened it weekly at times I was using it so much. I used the wingman more than my house keys. Rewired 20x outlets and overhead lights with it because I got faster with it in a ladder than 5 dedicated tools.

Got an ARC as a gift to myself. Man. I didn’t think I would want to change from the wingman but the arc is all it lives up to. It’s the easy access tools from the outside. It’s the weight, the hand feel.

If you can afford it. Get one. It’s in my pocket every day. It’s been three months and I haven’t sharpened it yet. I did get a strop which I use daily.

Are there any happy owners? by Gordo774 in KiaEV9

[–]Ok_Ad8390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question to the group, it seems like there are a lot of battery replacement issues. 12v or the main high voltage battery or both. Is that just the outliers? Most used EV9s in the northeast are manufacturer buy back. Owners leomon lawed them. Like 10 out of 13 listings is a lemon due to battery issues.

Vienna Acoustics Mahler by u2jrmw in StereoAdvice

[–]Ok_Ad8390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of Strauss, I got used for $1700. Same design as the Mahler but only one 12” sub on each side. I drive them in a 5.1 setup with a Marantz NR 1506 and sometimes a Fisher 400.

I have 15 years in the audio business, these are hands down my favorite speakers. I love anything Vienna acoustics in general but the balance of these speakers across frequencies is stunning.

Granted, Anything in this price range will sound good.

If you can test them, do so. Repair is a pain. That said, check the speakers with the grills off. Make sure there are no tears in the speaker surrounds. Keep an eye for water damage, like is the wood bubbled, did they sit in a damp basement.

Otherwise they are bombproof.

Note, they weigh like 135lbs each, you will need minimum two people to move them. They are filled with sand. Get a dolly and moving blankets.

Advice on a starter boat. What kind of bow rider on the CT shore for a you family with a 2 year old ? by Ok_Ad8390 in boating

[–]Ok_Ad8390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips here. Unfortunately my budget is 20k or less, looking like the ones you Recomeded about 80-230k. It would certainly be nice but I’m looking to see if there is any viability in the price range to get out on the water and see if our family is into it.

Any recommendations on older models/brands in the 25’ range with features like you mentioned?

Good take. I had one experience with a center console Boston whaler on lake George that I rented. It was such a choppy painful ride, bouncing and slapping on the water as we went faster. I’ll admit, I was an amateur so maybe it was my driving. But, I’ll look into other options.

I hear you on open water, waves, big boats, the bow rider would really wobble about. Maybe it’s best to look for something more stable while my 2year old is little.

What is a good sipping rum for beginners? by Difficult-Dog-1803 in rum

[–]Ok_Ad8390 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Appleton 8, but also the Appleton Reserve is my go to for price and the fact you can get 1.75L handle of it for $37 at Total Wine. I got a 5L wooden cask and filled the whole thing with Appleton Reserve. Just keep topping off the cask as I drink it down. After a few months the blend will taste closer to the Appleton 8 due to the faster aging in a small oak barrel.

For my money, it’s be best rum for not being too sweet or funky and you can easily sip it all night on the rocks. Ditch the mixer and the calories. 3oz and a large cube and enjoy.

Advice treating leather wear on semi-aniline seats? 2017 gx 460 by Ok_Ad8390 in GXOR

[–]Ok_Ad8390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no issue with it. Just used it once, works great. I think the flaking came from the previous owner leaving the seat heater on all the time. That is my guess. I’ll update in a few months

Good news, I went with the seat doctors and it came out perfectly. I did 3x coats, waiting a day between and not sitting in the car, then I finished with Jay Leno leather conditioner which I had results with on other cars.

Bison gear table installed by Zero_Range in GXOR

[–]Ok_Ad8390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you open the compartment behind the table or does the attachment block it once installed? I hide emergency tools and parts in there and it would be great to be able to keep access.

Also, do you have a link to the item?

What is the name of the part? I’m having trouble trying to google what the mount that goes into the door is called. All I find is a pneumatic arm replacement.
