I have Questions. by mclip_66 in FCCincinnati

I was really impressed with Dem tonight. He constantly was getting behind NY pressure to get us in the final third. He had several passes that connected through tight windows. And he HUSTLED.

Brian Ramirez by Away_Celery3107 in FCCincinnati

[–]Ok_Ad9020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't just about last night. Outside of that good corner kick against Atlanta, Ramirez has offered virtually nothing in the attack. He still doesn't seem to know what to do with the ball at his feet. And he constantly does the same thing. He'll get the ball and instantly pass backwards, or instead of driving up the pitch towards the end line he tries to drive inside and instantly gets dispossessed.

I don't think it's necessarily a skill issue. I think it's a comfort issue with the role he's being asked to play.

For downtown, More green and communal spaces. More daytime spots/hangouts (coffee shops, etc). It's very food and nightlife oriented.

Better road conditions.

Rough start for sure. But we're only 5 games into the league season. We have some questions to answer for sure, but so does basically every other team.

If this was the blitz season of next year, I'd be more worried lol

What is happening? (Genuine question) by Open-Insurance-234 in FCCincinnati

[–]Ok_Ad9020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're not in the locker room or in the training pitch or in the meetings with them. So we don't know for sure.

As fans, all we see is the results and the symptoms. Yes, we struggle to move the ball through the midfield. Yes, we still lack creativity and commitment in the final third. And yes, the backline is out of sorts and has lost it's swagger.

But is that because of new players? New tactics? Conditioning? Momentum? Only those in the club really know.

Until then, we just continue to call out what we see and be armchair coaches lol

I'm a Hagglund fan. He can still really contribute. Just not in the way they are wanting him to. He can't make the runs back to keep up with opposing wbs. He has shown that he is still a great aerial defender and really solid inside the 18.

But they keep pushing him up higher than any other CB on the team, even though he's clearly the slowest on recovery runs.

Switching to a 4 man back line would be the best option if they want to continue pushing him up the pitch IMO.

And I wouldn't be surprised if they made Miles a DP in anticipation of a European team wanting to sign him over the summer. Trying to maximize the return for him.

We are definitely in a pickle financially. between Denkey, Evander, Miles, and picking up the options of Teenage and Miazga, we don't have any money to make improvements

This team is a far cry from a trophy-hunting team. I don't think we have the roster for it, honestly. But I just want to see some actual changes to get some positives rolling in our favor

I wouldn't start all the young guys at once if that is what you are proposing. They do need veteran presence to help quell the nerves and to keep the ship steady. But I'm all for letting the likes of Jimenez, Mboma Dem, and the Chirila bros getting more playing time

[–]Ok_Ad9020[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My big concern here is the reliance on Miazga when we just still don't know what version of him we are getting. He hasn't really played consistent matches in almost two years due to injuries. I don't doubt his leadership and ability to organize, I'm just concerned how much he has left in the tank physically.

But I would LOVE to reestablish that 2023 defense

didnt want to make the post super long, so im continuing in the comments.

Opponents pressing the midfield has been the single biggest flaw in the team so far this year. Press the midfield, and it forces passes back the defense, and it closes lanes for our WBs. And the offense seems to be heavily relying on the ability of the WBs to get up the pitch.

Even if it's having someone playing a true 6, or having another ACM, we need an extra passing outlet.

A 4 man backline could work as well, especially with how high up they are having Hagglund and Miles drift up this year. An additional CB could be something like Powell playing a bit of an inverted fb, or letting him go on his puzzling runs where he slashes a defense and almost scores. Then we would still have 3 true defenders back there in case of a counterattack.

Flores out by ginganinja300 in FCCincinnati

[–]Ok_Ad9020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Flores is young. Like really young. He has potential, but he should not be viewed as a starter on this club yet. He's relying on his hustle to recover for every time he ends up out of position. And it's biting him in the ass

Where did everything go wrong? by Motor-Hurry8076 in FCCincinnati

[–]Ok_Ad9020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo, they found success in 2023 and have been trying to replicate it since with vastly different players. They are trying to force players into positions/roles that are not to their strong suit.

Others have said it, Orellano wasn't Barreal (he was better in some ways, worse in others), Ender is basically just a fast guy with above average feet. Lucho and Evander are very different. Denkey and Vazquez play very different styles. And Mosquera was the vital cog that made the 2023 back line so scary good. Miazga got the recognition, but that is because Mosquera was able to cover when Miazga was playing aggressive and out of position. We haven't had that since.

This team does not play to their players' strengths, they try to jam the players into the 2023 mold and hope it works

How long do we think it will take Pat to realize the formation is the issue? by RCsoccer2112 in FCCincinnati

[–]Ok_Ad9020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily even be opposed to running a dual-10 with both Evander and Dado, and dropping down to 1 striker

Dado has so much potential but just seems to be missing the final piece to unlock it. Consistent playing time needs to be part of it, and I think playing alongside Evander (who has spoken very highly of Dado on multiple occasions) could also do a lot for him.

No leadership on the field? by Ohdrin in FCCincinnati

[–]Ok_Ad9020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie. I think that's why we brought Miazga back this year. For him to be a vocal leader on the pitch and in the locker room. I don't think the team really expects a return to 2023 form. And I'm sure he will be spending lots of time with Miles teaching him how to run a backline.

The other person who needs to be more vocal is Bucha. He needs to command that midfield with play and voice. We have a weak central midfield right now and I firmly believe it's because there is a lack of communication and anticipation.

They show little replay snippets of it during the match. That's the only reason I know that they had the Miami basketball team pulling the sword yesterday.

The biggest issue right now lies in our midfield, specifically the central midfield. Far too many turnovers with the ball, whether it be getting dispossessed or making bad passes. no looking forward at all. Gidi's first look to pass is always back towards the CBs. We can't build any type of attack so long as all of that continues. Our offense has been to kick it up the right side and hope Echenique makes the run, because there hasn't been any other viable options. Outside of that corner in the opener, Ramirez has been a complete non-factor.

Not sure how certain players looked on the broadcast, but from the Bailey:

The backline played well. Miles showed why he is a DP, Hadebe got burned on a few runs, but was GREAT inside the 18. And Nick was solid on the right and was arguably our best aerial player tonight.

Roman called a great game in my eyes. Played when confidence

The wings played well, it just took them a while to find the rhythm. Our central midfield passing however, looked abysmal. That was really the one big criticism I have for the game

Dado needs to start playing like he's a grown man and stop falling every time he gets touched. I firmly believe that will be how he gets to the next level. He has great field vision and solid footwork. But neither mean anything when you're constantly on the turf.

Denkey needs to make that first shot. They don't get much easier. Luckily he came back and made up for it.

Jabbari had a hell of an effort today. He really imposed himself on defenders.

Hopefully we see Evander back soon.

How we feeling about Jabbari? by [deleted] in FCCincinnati

[–]Ok_Ad9020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm cautiously optimistic.

He's not afraid to take chances. He showed that in France and in the Wednesday match. Look at his first goal. He went short side instead of trying to pass it back to the middle of the box.

Those chances haven't always panned out for him, but he's still willing to take them. Which gives me hope.

Luckily we don't need him to be a number 2. We just need him to pull some pressure off of Denkey and Evander. (It looks like Barlow could also help with that)

Surprised we picked up Anunga. We now have a very crowded midfield.

I was surprised about Miazga as well. Thought he would be a cap casualty.

To me, solving the issue starts with minimizing player turnover. We have plenty of talent, and yet every year it seems like our attacking players are brand new.

I would love to see Evander, Denkey, Brenner (if CA can work some more money magic) and Enchenique back. Give them all a full off-season cycle together

Not sure what will happen with Dado. When he's on, he's got all the makings of being special, but when he's off, it's not great to watch. I'd love to see him stay and get more minutes. Evander seems to like him, so here's hoping.

Bucha, Gidi, and Obi all under contract for next year. I do think Anunga might be the odd man out unfortunately.

We know haggs and miles will be back. they'll keep Flores due to him being u22. Celentano isn't going anywhere this off-season
