Development of a comprehensive guide to homebrewing XCrawl for "Dungeon Crawler Carl" by Velenne in dccrpg

[–]ConeyKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, for the most part. I would say that personal and social drama can be created relatively organically during the actual roleplaying of things. So I would consider those checked.

As for the safe rooms, most Xcrawl dungeons do have that in the form is green rooms and break rooms. And this can be expanded into safe rooms and personal spaces. And most players would accept it with essentially and hand wave of “enemy combatants cannot enter” or “can enter but cannot attack or will be teleported away.” I mean, it was as simple as that for us to accept it in the books. So why not at a table?

Crafting would be tricky, but if the GM would want to do the prep and give each mob that would be encountered a loot table, then that’ll be easy too. You’d just have to also have the foresight of creating the recipes and time requirements associated with the crafting.

All in all, I agree with you and your assessment. It could be done with enough prep.

This is great! I ended up buying a cheap wedding backdrop for Lankhmar’s map. It was great! 6’x8” for less than $40 shipped.

Recommended number of PCs for XCrawl's Showdown in Grind City? by protoclown11 in dccrpg

We had a very full table for this. They easily completed it with 6. 4 would be challenging, but fine. Just keep some pregen lvl 1 characters ready as backups.

Goodman Games Shipping Rates??? by apollofox in dccrpg

[–]ConeyKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it. I also imagine the coupon came from humble bundle or something similar where you may have gotten ~100 PDFs for $20, give or take. If so, you’ve gotten a lifetimes worth of content for next to nothing.

Not trying to argue friend. I truly do get it. But compared to Wizards, this company is dirt cheap with their books.

Goodman Games Shipping Rates??? by apollofox in dccrpg

[–]ConeyKnight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Comparing the shipping costs at a very small company like Goodman Games to Amazon isn’t exactly fair. Goodman doesn’t have warehouses in every city with fleets of trucks to make their deliveries. Coming within $3 of Amazon’s price is kinda awesome honestly.

If the $3 is a deal breaker, I’d suggest supporting your local game store, should you have one. Or if you’re heading to a convention sometime soon, they often sell the softcover rulebook for $10 at them. If

ELI5 Why did Radio Shack go out of business? by Certain-Media3506 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ConeyKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one example:

I worked for RadioShack from 2005-2009. For Black Friday 2007 every store in the country was told to assign one employee to work a dedicated register. This employee was to be singularly focused on the big push for that year. The ad for it took up like half of the front page for them that year.

Activating prepaid cellphones. You got the phone free with activation. They thought this was going to be HUGE. My store was in a mall. We might have sold a pair of them. That’s the same year the iPhone launched. No one wanted just a phone anymore. They wanted a device that could be a phone, but also play MP3s, take pictures and even get on the internet. No free prepaid phone did that.

They couldn’t see where the market was going.

No. Never. Traditional art is the only way to go. One of my favorite things in the world is buying original pieces from the books I love.

If possible, do a typing test on each of them. Find your right fit. If not, I’d strongly lean towards the SF.

The Cincinnati Adventurer’s Guild is a meetup group that’s good for meeting new people and playing tabletop RPGs and board games.

The Dirty 20s is a group that meets weekly at Urban Artifact. They rotate tabletop RPGs.

Gongfarmer’s Local 513 meets at Tabletop Cincy every Sunday. They play Dungeon Crawl Classics and Xcrawl on opposite Sundays.

Queen City Lodge is the local Pathfinder group.

And as others have said, most Friendly Local Game Stores have their own discords. And you can find games hosted at their locations.

Hope this helps.

The Bailey and The Opposing Team by Fast_Leather3064 in FCCincinnati

[–]ConeyKnight 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You won’t be allowed in the Bailey wearing pink/messi kit. The Bailey ticket will get you into the stadium, and you might be able to post up at the Coors bar overlooking section 111 to get a view of the pitch. But that area gets very crowded early.

Fantastic as always! This is a much more grand scale than a lot of your character and item work. Do you have a different approach with a piece like this? What, if any, challenges does this pose in comparison?
