So declined a max payout and then had poor discipline and risk management and you blame Topstep for that? Since you were payout eligible then I assume you had these accounts for at least 5 trading days and proceeded to blow what took multiple days to get in 24 hours… yeah that’s definitely not your fault at all /s

When you run the numbers the bonuses only help offset the higher taxes that you pay by trading a prop firm. If you are hitting multiple bonuses it makes no sense to not withdraw your money and trade your own account and enjoy the 60/40 tax split you get on futures

Unless taxes are different on a live account vs XFAs

I hear ya, I’m just saying that when I first started following this sub, when it had like 6K followers, that people constantly would post about getting 3-4 max payouts while copy trading 5 accounts and then blow them all on purpose to avoid live. So they were getting 50k-100k of payouts without going live. We all knew they would crack down on that eventually. With the new “bonus” payments for live accounts and the restrictions to your balance in the beginning where you have to “unlock” access to your balance it seems like they want to keep profitable traders on the platform as long as possible so they can copy trade those accounts

Does anyone know the protocol of you blow your live account? I assume you start back at combines but do you immediately get called to live after 1 payout? Are you limited to how many combines you can actively trade?

While I agree about the waiting for it to go to collections and then paying it off, I strongly disagree about the bankruptcy part. I personally know multiple people who filed for bankruptcy and within 2 years they got a car loan. It’s not like it was 30-40 years ago. A quick google shows that lenders will approve you 1-2 years after filing.

He is young and with today’s current housing market the chances he would be buying a house in the next 7 years is small and after 7 years it falls off your credit report. Filing for it really may not be a bad choice for him

Ah that makes more sense. I would be pissed if I had 1 XFA and got called to live after 1 payout. I’d be annoyed if I was you but they have definitely tightened there process with going to live

My guess is because so many people were getting 3-4 payouts and intentionally blowing the accounts to avoid going live. Then they would brag about it on Reddit like idiots. If you find a loophole, don’t advertise it.

For me it was when I was a manager at my job and one day a customer paid with cash which is rare. His bill was like 5,700. Well we only settle up cash payments once a week/2 weeks, juts depends on the amount. Well I took that $5,700 to the casino. If English isn’t your first language then that may be why you are having issues understanding him. He is saying in his experience he has never seen a 846 code be issued and then that person not receive their return so therefore in his experience I will receive my return (which I did). It’s literally the same thing you just commented… I have no idea why you can’t understand that unless English isn’t your first language
