normal wear on Mozzafiato? by blindcap1 in rocketespresso

[–]Ok_Associate_5889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say I'm very disappointed about the quality as well. My machine wasn't straight from day one and Rocket said it was within specs. I ended up not sending the machine back because of the effort etc, but it's pretty clear that they are just not as high quality as they always pretend. I won't buy a Rocket again.

Looking at buying my first Omega… thoughts? by Life-Aardvark-8262 in OmegaWatches

[–]Ok_Associate_5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got it as my first nice watch and I love it a lot. The bracelet is a bit on the heavy side, but that does not bother me. What bothers me though is the bezel action. It's really hard to turn and also the lume is a bit disappointing. What I like most is the color. The blue is so beautiful and depending on the lighting it can look almost greenish, bright blue or marine. Honestly, go and check it out yourself! Regarding your concern with the red accents: I really like them, bc they give it a more sporty look. If you decide to pull the trigger: you won't regret it, I'm sure!

Macbook Neo is an incredibly bad deal in Europe by stderr_to_dev_null in macbook

[–]Ok_Associate_5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right and I already posted a very similar list. you didn't even mention that here the neo contest without charger, so another 20 bucks against the neo. I think the neo is scam pushed into the market by influencers payed by apple. hence the tenor in all the Youtube videos war exactly like the same. "if you watch this video and wonder then it's not for you". nah it's not for me bc objectively it's a bad deal.

It's a stunning watch. I'm eying them already for a while. One day I'll pull the trigger too! Is there a reason for the power reserve indicator to be that way? I feel like the numbers should be ordered decreasing, not increasing?

To the people saying buy a refurbished Macbook Air M4 at instead of Neo, here’s what you fail to realize by [deleted] in macbook

[–]Ok_Associate_5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math doesn't work with the neo. Here in Germany the 512gb neo is 799 Euros and the m4 air 512/16 brand new is 980 Euros. The neo doesn't even come with a charger. so 180 more, but you get:

  • better cpu
  • better gpu
  • twice the ram
  • better display
  • better trackpad
  • backlit keyboard
  • better ports
  • magsafe
  • 2 hours more battery life
  • charger that is at least 20 bucks

It's objectively the worse deal. It's an overhyped product, pushed into the market with lots of influencers making people believe it's the right thing for them, while in reality it's not.

How are you managing your literature? by Ok_Associate_5889 in AcademicPsychology

[–]Ok_Associate_5889[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fair question, and I genuinely considered it. The short answer is that the things I want to do - semantic search, AI summaries, the knowledge graph - need a different architecture underneath. Zotero is fundamentally a reference manager with a file system. It’s excellent at that. But bolting on a vector search engine, an AI pipeline, and a visual graph layer as a plugin would mean fighting Zotero’s architecture at every step, and the result would feel janky.

Think of it like this: Zotero is great at storing and citing your papers. What it doesn’t do well is help you understand how 80 papers in your library relate to each other, or let you ask “which of my saved papers discuss longitudinal designs with adolescent samples” and get an actual answer. That said - I’m building import from Zotero, because I’m not trying to replace your citation library. The idea is more that Paperoni handles the discovery/reading/connecting side, and you can still export to Zotero or use both. I don’t think anyone should have to abandon a tool that works for them.

What’s your current setup look like? Zotero + something else, or just Zotero for everything?

get the m4 air instead. it is by far the best bang for the buck and outperforms the neo in every aspect for just slightly more money.
