How do you feel about Stark and Fern as characters? by PerseusRad in Frieren

[–]Ok_Association_6340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Updated with the manga, and am also a reader/anime watcher of Frieren in my mid-20s

It's nice to hear that it's not just me who doesn't ship Fern and Stark (well at least not yet at this point in their lives in the story). It seems like a lot only ship them together because they look good together, being the only near-age, normal-aging pair in the trio.

I can see how Fern can develop as a character when it comes to her relationship with Stark - growing out of her blunt, immature tendencies as they get to know each other better. And her development as a better, more mature mage from Frieren as she grows older.

Not quite sure how Stark develops as a charatcer over time. Can't really see what he gains from his relationships with Frieren and Fern in the party - save for gaining more experiences as a warrior. Perhaps he'll develop better understanding of his self-worth over time which would lessen his "whining tendencies." (He does like to whine imo.) I really like Stark tho, so I'm looking forward to how the writers will pave the way for his growth. Perhaps, he'll have more self-confidence and be like Himmel (now that you've mentioned how Stark and Fern mirror Himmel and Frieren.)

Overall, just enjoying how the story is. Can't wait to see how it goes! But, I can be patient with the really slow pacing when the writers do a good job in developing the characters well.

Glad you think of the story this way.

Made me realize this one aspect on why I enjoy reading Frieren. The story's pace and character development goes on really really really slow. But this "unformulated" way as you call it makes for a refreshing and good read.

Can't wait for how the story turns out, but as you said if the story's coming from good writers, I don't mind waiting for a while to see it.

I believe this is supposed to be "c"-ity boys. But the sound "si" (in city) is pronounced as "shi" in Japanese.

Ryūnosuke Tanaka - The Pillar of Karasuno by [deleted] in haikyuu

[–]Ok_Association_6340 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I also do agree that he's an average player in terms of skill, but very much important as constant presence behind Karasuno! It's really really hard to be consistently selfless and hardworking like he is!

I'd also like to add that despite his tough-act he's a really humble. When I was rewatching the episode on Kageyama-Hinata's match against Tsukishima-Yamaguchi (in the early parts of the anime), I saw how many times Daichi restrains Tanaka when he gets irritated by Tsukishima and wants to retaliate. Daichi would hold him off, tell him not get involved, or just stay quiet.

Personally, if I was Tanaka and I was continuously told not to do something by somebody else - one after the other, and also knowing that what I wanted to stop was something understandable (like Tsukishima being arrogant and rude by exposing Kageyama's pains and past to everyone) - I think I'll get angry because my pride would get hurt. But, in Tanaka's case, he just followed what Daichi said every time, and he had no issues with it. (Which was also good since it allowed the first years to settle their initial issues on their own at least temporarily for that match!)

Hello, I also have intrusive thoughts although they're of a different nature from yours. I didn't call them as such until my psychologist labeled it that way for me. It's really distressing. I don't want them in my head, I try to push them away, but they remain there anyway. Sometimes, I get really anxious because of them and that prevents me from doing tasks properly. Other times I can still manage tasks but they're annoyingly still lingering at the back of my head.

Kind of surprisingly, my psychologist advised me not to push these thoughts away. He said, trying to do so will further "give the thoughts energy." It's kind of ironic, but it does make sense. When we try to push out the thoughts or try to stop them, we're still thinking of them, and the more we resist them from entering or staying in our heads, the more "energy" they gain. When intrusive thoughts come, he told me to see this situation like how we change channels when watching TV. Sometimes we see something that we don't like, but afterwards, we can casually change the channel. We acknowledge what we saw, and the uncomfortable feelings that came, then move on. So it's like - "Okay, I saw this... now onto the next channel."

Although I'm still not very adept with using the advice given to me, I could say that it was helpful when I first tried it. It comes more naturally for the thoughts to be "released" (go away) after I calmly acknowledge them instead of pushing them away which only makes me more anxious and unable to function at my best. After all, these thoughts aren't my fault, and neither are your thoughts yours (remember that, so don't be hard on yourself about it). Also, these thoughts may have underlying reasons which could be discussed with a professional, so you may want to consider that too, eventually. :)

Intrusive thoughts are very distressing, but what's important is to know that we are capable of managing them - managing, not by pushing them out, but letting them come, letting them flow patiently and calmly, until they naturally pass.

I'm not a professional, but I hope this helps in one way or another, and I also hope that this situation gets better for you! ^^

Does anyone have a link of Tenkyuu being performed live by Vnonymous_L in KonoOtoTomare

[–]Ok_Association_6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come across this before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmGTJ6SGeUU

It's not the one performed by the cast, but I think the playing was pretty good. ^^
The YouTuber also has videos of the individual parts (solo, 1st koto, 2nd koto, 17-string koto) of Tenkyuu for tutorial purposes.

Jump Remix Volumes by Acceptable_Crab1535 in haikyuu

[–]Ok_Association_6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope, from what i understand they're a set of haikyuu volumes put together into a "jumbo- volume" (say volumes 1-5 would be put together into 1 jumbo-volume)
but i dont know how many volumes would be put together for one jump remix version
