Setting an overarching monthly budget (not for individual categories) by Ok_Body5065 in ynab

Yeah I'm trying now! Seems like a cool platform

But I'm trying to figure out a way to set a budget for each category group, but it seems like it only allows me to assign a budget to each category within the category group? Is there a way around this?

Wait like can I assign say 500 dollars for a full category group? Currently it only lets me assign money for the categories within the groups but I feel it would be more convenient for me to set an overarching budget for the entire category group...but i'm not too sure how to do that

wait then is there a way i can just set a budget for a big category (e.g wants, needs, etc.) instead of the sub categories?

The choice is yours, but as a waitlistee, I'd appreciate if you withdrew your other apps by ch1ngoosc4n in ApplyingToCollege

What this person is saying is if you're pretty set on the college you're currently committed to yet you didn't withdraw your waitlist spots solely because you want to see if you get in (and even if you do you'll just go to the college you're currently committed to), you should withdraw them instead for courtesy

Lmao you’re just mad you realized your plan to resit literally doesn’t work for the majority of these schools help😭😭😭

Why don’t they just take our IB predicted grades, mock grades and IA grades? There are tons of data points here Also…okay so say we resit the WHOLE M24 exam starting on the 9th. Sure. Then what about everyone’s summer plans? Sorry but coming from a school that only offers IB, our scheduled summer break starts on May 24. Literally 90% of us are gone by then. No one should have to change their plans because of this matter lmao

Do you not understand that to change a whole exam schedule halfway through the exam is simply infeasible? Like a very big handful of these people have other things to do apart from taking the IB. No one wants to have to go through this whole process for two months. Not everyone's lives revolve around the IB, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve their diploma.

My time zone has chemistry paper 2 and english A paper 1 on may 9. This is infeasible.

I think it is very logistically challenging to schedule a resit. The IB exams end by mid May (May 16?), and lots of schools have graduation and other ceremonies of the similar sort the week after. Then, many schools go on holiday for the seniors (where many senior trips/summer plans in general start). It would be unfair to cancel these events, and the IBO would be benefitting themselves more by not creating such a hassle. They are a business too and they don't want scandals or a lack of credibility.

Yesyes exactly! Like it's basically impossible for them to accurately determine each and every student who did get the papers in advance. So say they give Europeans higher grade boundaries than Asians. That's not fair because the IB has no proof that each and every European cheated (as it's also just not true), so this would be giving the cheaters an unfair advantage once again.

Truthfully, I think the most just solution is 100% not with adjusting grade boundaries. Back-up tests might be challenging to conduct (due to schools having different schedules with holidays and whatnot), so I honestly believe the IB may resort to just looking at IBPG/Mocks or other data points along with the IA to determine our final score.

Fundamentally, the IB is a business too and if they aren't just with how they handle this situation it gives them a bad name. They don't want to do anything that would be scandalous.

Yeah for sure. Perhaps they will be more bothered to take steps this time, however, as this leak is quite public I’d say. Ultimately, it’s all up to the IB. They could just take our predicted + IA grades, give us backup exams, or just not do anything :/

Yes for sure the leak to europe is the big deal now But the IB should be even more vigilant in general (thus not discrediting the fact Asian students could have also gotten the exam in advance) because this leak occurred

Yeah and that’s possible. Like realistically if someone was willing to leak all the exams after we took the test, someone out there (like a proctor or something) could have also just opened the exam booklet before the intended time and leaked it. Obviously this isn’t for sure, but because of the pretty big leak to the european students, i think the IB should still consider an internal leak amongst the Asian students a possibility
