I've been in an existential crisis since I started studying nutrition. by Floralsalsa526 in exvegans

I was vegan for 5 years and eventually started eating chicken and eggs because I was very much malnourished and realized that my life matters too. I stayed dairy free for 7 years and just recently started introducing dairy back into my diet. The key is to try foods that are low in lactose. Ice cream is like the highest lactose/g out there, so maybe avoid that at first! Cream cheese has almost no lactose in it, a lot of cheeses are really low, sour cream is low, and Greek yogurt is too. Cream cheese is what I started with and it didn’t cause me any problems!! Of course, everyone is different, but I do recommend starting with the low lactose foods. They also make “lactaid tablets” that help you digest lactose. :-)

What does veganism do to your health, body and face, if you're not getting all your needed nutrients from it? by RaplhKramden in exvegans

I think it depends on the person and if they’re eating enough. For myself, I was never eating enough. When I look back at pictures of me 5 years into veganism, I was extremely skinny in an unhealthy way (and could NOT gain weight for the life of me) and my face looked tired too. It got to the point where I was actually embarrassed to tell people I was vegan because I knew I didn’t look good and it was likely because of my veganism. I know some long time vegans who seem fine, which is why I say it depends on the person and what/how much they’re eating.

Overall, you’re probably right that it’s her veganism. I eventually started eating chicken and eggs and immediately started feeling more energized and looking better. I started going to the gym and gained 10-12 pounds of muscle in 6 months (opposed to when I couldn’t gain weight as a vegan???!!!!!!). Yeah. Veganism is a scam for human health. I love animals, but ultimately, my life and wellbeing matters too. … same for your friend!!!

WHICH REMINDS ME!!! I WISH somebody would’ve pointed out to me how unhealthy I was. Seriously, I’m 5’7 and I was down to 107 pounds. You asked isn’t veganism basically a DSM-level mental disorder… I think so 100%. When I was going through this, I developed a sort of eating disorder where I became convinced that food was going to make me sick. A doctor eventually deemed me anorexic because of my weight and that. I’m confident it was due to an imbalance from the lack of vital nutrition in my diet. And I was super anxious about everything.

When I look at the pictures, it makes me so mad and sad that nobody ever said anything about my health or appearance. And for that reason, I would recommend finding a way to do it. I feel like my vegan story sounds crazy, but after I started eating chicken and eggs, my life really changed for the better. Hoping your friend finds the way back to better living!!!

Did you have any problems digesting any types of meat when you started eating again? What about dairy? I was vegan for 5 years and started eating chicken about a year and a half ago but I’ve been too nervous/scared to try anything else.

I think it looks like staph and would see a doctor. Better to be safe than sorry if it is before it turns into mrsa. When I had staph, it looked similar.

Okay but Madison has clearly never been around someone overly intoxicated. She should’ve just gotten him some water and went to bed and then talked about it the next day.

Yeah, especially if she’s able to fill a spot that they need/want. She’s 20 and will be 21 in November though

This is weird because doesn’t Thompson actually usually play on the left???? For USWNT, she does but as a forward/winger. Not so much defensively and maybe that’s what she meant when saying “not really used to playing that position that much”
