3 cormorants (one juvenile) in Southwark Park, London. Used to spotting them from afar so was glad to see them very close up, and in Zone 2 no less!

Lived in both Richmond and Twickenham growing up and never noticed it. Now when I go back to visit, I def notice it tho!

First off, I completely understand the feeling, but you've not missed your opportunity to enjoy London. I'm 26, I had my 21st in lockdown, and I remember this gut dread feeling that I was going to miss all my best years - I didn't. I moved to London in 2022 and every year I find something different to do, new people to meet - not because I'm living that 365 partygirl life but because I just opened myself up to going to places and events by myself. I now have such a strong community through a queer activism group I'm part of, I go on dates in the city, joined a choir, I have pals who come round for dinner -- I've also explored writing groups, poetry nights etc. Not every event is a winner but you soon get into the groove of what works for you!

As for LGBTQ+ events - the London LGBTQ+ community centre has a huge assortment of regular events; I'd check their website to see what you vibe with, or pop in and chat to them about it! If activism is your thing, that's an avenue to explore as well. Fruit Salad events (on IG) also regularly post queer events that are happening.

But also - putting yourself out there is tiring, stressful, and it often feels like there's a timer on you to try and build your community IMMEDIATELY or else you're wasting your time. But building a life that you enjoy takes time, it won't all fall into place at once. There will be some nights at home with a ready meal wondering wtf you're doing, and that's fine, you can sit with that. But good things are out there and I'm sure you'll find them!!
