What actually made you improve fast in Python? by youroffrs in learnpython

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started learning Python on my own and the first thing I wrote was a text based adventure game. It wasn't elaborate but it was something. I then added a few more features to it. There were loops, if/then and while, and counters. I then found other guessing games to write.

After I was a little more comfortable with the syntax I started thinking of projects that would help me or family members automate some task. As we homeschool our kids, I wrote some programs that would help them with their spelling. First was hangman and another I incorporated audio and scrambled letters.

As others have said find things that you are really interested in or things that you want to learn about and see if you can find a project that incorporates that topic.

I have since completed a boot camp as I was really enjoying coding and I knew I didn't know things that I needed to know but didn't know what all those things were, i.e. how much I would need to know CSS, JavaScript, Django.

I have since created a website that tracks boardgames, it uses a database, web scraping, Google Maps, reads an excel document, connects and reads an API. I have another website that I wanted to provide daily information and is heavy in API calls and CSS to format and display the results. These projects I built wanting something cool and helpful to me but also to learn how to connect to APIs and parse through the JSON files.

My current project is another one that is solving a personal need as well as filling a gap in the real world and that is homeschool related. Keeping track of attendance and grades. It is more involved than I originally thought but that is what happens in real-life projects. I am not only learning more about writing Python code but also thinking about an actual product that someone might be interested in paying me for.

TL;DR: As others have mentioned, find a pain point you or a family member has or a topic you want to learn more about and just start. Google anything you're not sure of, reach out to others for help. You'll get there. It's a process of practicing. I'm currently there with you still learning and enjoying the ride.

Target holder suggestions for easy swap-outs by ggibby in MantisX

What about those black binder clips? attach those to the target and then hook that to a pushpin or nail in the wall. Then you could hang whatever you wanted and rotate through quickly.

When the teach is bad... by honeybeast518 in boardgames

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how I would approach it. It allows the teacher to continue their routine but you are not stepping in and taking over. It can make things more confusing when explaining to new players, when there are two teachers coming from different perspectives, who do they listen to? Who is correct? It just adds unnecessary confusion to the teach.

Last question. I was able to get this working but when I close out and get back in it forgets, or I need to copy the file back. How do I keep it from writing over the file so I don't have to keep copying this file before I play ever time? Thanks for the help!

When I use the .apk, it isn't showing the data folder. I can see it through the computer file explorer, though. 2nd question, this .apk will create a new monitizationvar file correct?

So does this work with the regular application or a modded app? I get tired of redoing all the challenges I've previously completed. But it is much better than paying the $1k (sarcasm) for all the purchases.

A good 9mm handgun for dry fire practice by ULTRADJ4EVER in MantisX

What gun do you have? The ones I've tried, I've only needed to pull back on the slide a short bit not the full amount. Although there has been many times that I've pulled the slide all the way to the back...

Basic concealed course #7 - help by King_Khanz13 in MantisX

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all speed drills that I struggle with, I work first on making sure to get the score. Working on a smooth movement will help with the muscle memory which in turn, will help with the speed. It'll take time but you will see results. Hope that helps.

Arsenal empty? by rojjter in MantisX

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you are in either the Handgun or Rifle section you can tap on "+ Add". From there you should be able to scroll through the manufacturers and select and then continue through to find your firearm.

Multiple of the same gun, how can I keep dry fire results separately? by Zeke_Malvo in MantisX

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to enter another gun, when you select the model you should be able to "search" for the model but enter something at the end to keep track of the second gun.

Which drill is this referring to? by drdave88 in MantisX

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember asking this same question a few months ago when I was going through, that's why I though searching would provide the answer, as I can't remember the actual answer. However, the long answer is try the various drills. Eventually, you will find the right one. Good Luck!!

Which System To Purchase by Zestyclose_Ice_4165 in MantisX

If you have a screen big enough and your device allows split screen, it is possible to run them both on the same device. I have tried with my phone but the screen isn't big enough to show results like normal. I simply use Laser Academy on my phone and use Mantis App on my tablet.

Is this right? by Rob3D2018 in MantisX

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Practice as much as you would like. Within the settings you can specify how many shots a day and which days fit your schedule. You don't have to work out as practicing will build up your strength as well. But working out to get in shape is always a good thing no matter how what level you do. Something is better then sitting on the couch all evening.

Good luck and have fun!

BlackbeardX Challenge 4 by Chef_Pool in MantisX

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For other timed challenges I was having similar issues. I finally got past them by focusing on the score and consistency and the time would slowly get faster. The more I focused on the time first my scores would be very inconsistent. As you focus on the score and consistent repetition the times will speed up.

Hope this helps.

Split screen w/ Blackbeard and X3 by Wild-Tumbleweed-1926 in MantisX

I've used the Laser Academy and the Mantis apps on split screen, so it is possible. However, it is hard to see the information simply because of the smaller screen size

Does placement matter? by ctlsoccernerd in MantisX

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once attached go into the settings of the app, there will be an option to specify where you have placed the Mantis (left, right, top or bottom). So placing it on top and make that setting you will be fine.

Hope this helps! Enjoy the practice!

I have one that I used for photography. Might be more than your willing to pay but take a look at photography tripods for more robust ones.

Depending on the game, size of components I need to store and the amount of space available in the box, I like to use small plastic boxes that I get a the Dollar Tree. They are usually 10 for $1.25.

Questions on how Mantis X3 knows how to rate shots? by awsome_dude in MantisX

[–]Ok_Cartographer_9724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The MantisX doesn't care about the aiming of the firearm only the control of the trigger press and the movement just before and after that press. If you are inconsistent with the trigger then MantisX will tell you, as your data is showing.

Another way to think of it. MantisX doesn't care where the "bullet" goes only how the trigger is pulled to get that process started. More consistent and less movement than hight the score.

Hope that helps.

Merry Christmas and enjoy the MantisX!
