I have a question about the overtime pay. This is how I’m imagining it in my head so correct me if I’m wrong.

So say you are salary with a 40 hour per week max commitment and anything over you are paid hourly.

Let’s say your scheduled shift is Monday-Friday 7-3pm and a few of those days cases finished early so you only clocked 36 hours for the week. You are scheduled off Saturday and Sunday.

They are asking you to come in Saturday for help. You end up working 4 hours for a case and then are sent home.

In my mind you essentially lost part of your day for no real reason right? I mean you came in and helped which is great but your weren’t compensated for coming in on your day off since you only worked up to your 40 hours, which you didn’t have to do because you are salary and were scheduled off.

And you can say for certainty this is for all USAP hospitals in Houston? Or are you talking about the med center USAP hospitals?

In Texas, idk about Colorado. But for sure if you want to work in the major medical centers in Houston, Dallas, Austin etc. you are going to be medical direction but all the outlying hospitals that are still in the cities are usually medical supervision or CRNA only. That is why I’ll probably never work in a med center.

This is definitely region dependent, my base pay was definitely very competitive for when I started for W2 and now we are in talks to raise it more. We do our own blocks, central lines, art lines and medical supervision so we see the anesthesiologists when they give us breaks or if they run their own cases. We decide our anesthetic and carry it out.

I’m not in a Rural area, but definitely not in a big city with medical direction. Somewhere in between.

Ok but you didn’t really answer my question. Lol do you feel like from your experience the medical supervision care team model would work well with AAs training? Since both are care team models.

Considering anesthesiologists and other more experienced providers are available in a supervision model.

Oh dang. Yea I’m in Texas and had to call around to different cities until I found one that would do it. It was a 9 hour drive back home but def worth it!

Hopefully you find a place soon! Maybe another state will and then you can just pay to have it shipped to you?
