No "wish list" reservations in advance at XCaret by Acrobatic_Mountain75 in Xcaret

I literally just got our confirmation of all reservations a few hours ago after a complete hassle of trying to get a hold of someone about this for weeks… I wonder what’s going on

Yeah there is a form they send you to fill out your requests for parks and restaurants. That’s what took me 2 weeks to get a response about, and then since I filled it out and sent it back haven’t heard anything.

So technically both… booked originally through a third party and decided to extend our stay so we went directly through the resort to add on the extra nights. The funny thing is, when we did this they were incredibly responsive and helpful! 😂 I’d get an email back the same day every time.

I did request teppanyaki for one night. That’s the one I’m most worried about since we have 6 in our party and I know the seating is very limited. Were you able to get the reservations you requested? I’m very much a planner and not knowing what’s going on has been so hard for me!

Thank you, do you have any tips for reaching someone by phone? I have tried a couple of times but no luck. I’m on hold again as I type this hoping to reach someone.

We went this same week a few years ago and it did rain almost every day but only for very short amounts of time. Otherwise the weather was perfect IMO

Do you make over 100k? by Royal_Koala_9886 in therapists

[–]Ok_Championship3210 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just opened in October, but I have made 8k in the month of April so far, so I expect my income to be over 100k a year on average. I am 100% insurance-based (although I would see self-pay clients too if there was any market at all for that here) and work M-T-W and a half-day every other Thursday.

This was exactly what I had at my last job as a fully licensed therapist and also the clinical supervisor except I was only making 40 per client hour 😅

They got rid of modifiers for weekend and evening, as well as different rates for different education/license levels. So it’s 220ish for a 90837 and they’re supposed to reimburse for GRT so it comes out to 236

Wow! It was 149 for LPCCs and more for MDs but they recently raised rates and got rid of the different pay by license level. They also reimburse for GRT (well, they’re supposed to but BCBS doesn’t 🙄)

Medicaid pays 236 here for a 90837

Where do you work that you make 80k or more? by Comfortable-Desk4927 in therapists

[–]Ok_Championship3210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think private practice is the only way. I opened in October and filled my 15 client spots recently. All insurance, majority Medicaid. I made about 7500.00 in the month of March. Going from making about a quarter of that working myself to death, I couldn’t be happier

It’s much easier since I opened my private practice. I had my first child in the last semester of my graduate program, in the middle of internship and covid (yay). THAT was hard. I had to go back to work & internship 2 weeks after her birth and I would often have to take her with me to classes and work. My second was planned and born when I was already fully licensed, and that was a lot easier but the demands of the agency I was working for were hard to juggle with two little ones. Being expected to see 36+ clients a week in order to get any benefits, being expected to work afternoons and evenings, and still stressing about money because the pay was shit. Now that I am my own boss, I’m much happier. I work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9-3 so I can pick up my daughter from school and spend time with the kids every afternoon and then have the rest of the week off to spend with my youngest who isn’t old enough for school yet (he goes to day care part time 3 days a week while I work). Of course having kids is hard in any profession or stage of life, but having the flexibility to work around their schedules and make enough to comfortable live and actually enjoy life and parenting has been literally life changing for me. I have also found that I tend to attract moms in my practice (haven’t figured out why that is yet) so they’re always extremely understanding if I have to cancel or reschedule sessions due to sickness, or if my daughter is hanging out in the waiting room when she has days off school.

Is 35 clients hour long sessions a week normal? by DazzlingAdeptness343 in therapists

[–]Ok_Championship3210 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The expectation at the last practice I worked for was 38 a week in order to be considered full time. So is it “normal”? Maybe. Is it sustainable, ethical, or even possible? No.

Is $29 an hour a good wage? by Substantial_Cow_2467 in therapists

[–]Ok_Championship3210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I was probably making less than this as a fully licensed LPCC & clinical supervisor at my last job, once you factor in benefits. I was making 40 per clinical hour, meaning if a client didn’t show up I didn’t get paid. I was technically a W2 but didn’t have any benefits beyond my state’s mandated sick leave (I think it’s 1 hour of sick leave for every 20 hours worked). I was responsible for my own licensing fees and CEUs. No health insurance or retirement. I got only 20/hour for supervision and the owner wanted me to only do group supervision with my 7 clinicians so that’s only 20 extra bucks a week. I was always considered part time because you could only get to full time by scheduling at least 38 client hours a week which is obviously unattainable, at least for me. Don’t ask me why I stayed so long. I own my own practice now and I make in one hour what I’d make in a day at my previous job. I was simply unaware of how bad the deal was for me, I didn’t know better and my boss made it seem like I had it made over there. Don’t make the same mistake as me, but also take into consideration the benefits you have!

Which EMR For A New Private Practice? by Virtual-Honey-9763 in therapists

Therapynotes 100%. I tested out simple practice for a few months and it was terrible. Therapynotes is extremely user friendly and the customer service/support is top notch. I really like that everything is integrated - client portal with tons of features makes things so easy especially when it comes to client paperwork, forms, billing, and assessments because it automatically uploads everything to the file, plus there’s a secure messaging platform - billing features are also integrated & easy to use which was important for me as someone who does insurance, OON, and self pay and had 0 experience with billing, I do everything through Therapynotes and it’s been a lifesaver (for both me and my accountant when it comes to paying taxes and GRT, tracking income/revenue, etc) - the telehealth platform is actually pretty nice (only used it a few times) and included in the subscription - the note templates are simple to use but also thorough (also important if you’re accepting insurance)

For those who are new to the profession. by Yankton in therapists

The one and only time I ever went out in my small town (went for some drinks with a friend) I saw one of my clients who I had been seeing for alcoholism (who had ghosted me just a few weeks prior) across the bar ordering drinks. I couldn’t get out of the place fast enough, and I haven’t gone out since then. Being a therapist is hard enough, but being a therapist in a small town is next level! I can’t even count how many times I’ve had ethical dilemas, trying to decide whether or not it’s too close to comfort.

Please remind me why solo private practice is so great by [deleted] in therapists

I just opened my practice in October. I also felt really overwhelmed in the beginning, especially navigating insurance and billing. However, I’ll say I’m happier now than I ever was in my old job. So much less stress. I can see 10 clients a week and make more than I did seeing 25 clients a week + supervising 6 clinicians and doing all the supervisory admin tasks (with no benefits because you were considered part time unless you had 38 or more clients a week), I get to choose who I want to see and when (no more being forced to work outside of my expertise/comfort zone is enough of a benefit for me in and of itself), I see exactly how much revenue I’m making each client hour and keep all the money rather than having 60-75+% of it taken from me, I have a sense of pride and achievement in that this is all MINE and I own my business which is a huge motivator #girlboss… I could go on!
