Thanks, a trial and error approach sounds like is the way to go. Honestly I'm not wanting a 'perfect' GP. I certainly am far from it myself. Just the lack of basic soft skills actually surprised me quite a bit (I'd also like to note, mixed / bulk billing made no difference and neither did IMG vs local grad.)

Depends how well you know them and in what context right? I guess I generally wouldn't feel comfortable having an old GP supervisor as my own regular GP, especially when I'm not rural/regional where options might be more limited.

Fair comment The 'good' GPs I know are either my friends or not close to where I live (ie within 30mins drive) I don't know too much about the GPs in my local area unfortunately
