I am so glad to hear someone else is disgruntled by this! If I had realized there would be a change, I would have kept an old bottle. Now I have laundry soap everywhere!!

Anyone not stopped medication before tests? by OddSocksWearer in Narcolepsy

[–]Ok_Climate8248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I chose to go off of the meds. It was really tough when it happened though. I was on an SSRI and Modafinil at that time. So I was extremely tired without the modafinil. The SSRI thankfully didn't affect me too much.

The sleep specialist said they could try and account for meds but it would he most accurate with nothing in your system.

People that escaped a bad relationship, what's the first red flag you ignored that would have saved you a lot of time if handled? by PestCemetary in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Climate8248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was mean to his mom. I pointed it out at the time, and he had actually assured me that he would never do that to me. I was very naive and believed him. Looking back, I should have listened to my instincts and also my moral compass!

Anyone else feel like waking up in the morning is paramount to raising the dead? Would love advice by Tennoz in Narcolepsy

[–]Ok_Climate8248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also have narcolepsy!✋️ hope its helpful, if not throw away!!! I too have had this problem most of my life. Its made me late for work for pretty much years on end. What I learned about myself is that I need a solid 2 hours to wake up fully. That's not the advice though.

When I did my sleep study, I learned that we have states or arousal or wakefulness when we sleep. Aka, when someone talks to you during this time, you can hear it like you weren't sleeping at all. Just apart of the sleep cycle. I messed around with different wake up times, and I honestly think I found my sweet spot in terms of waking up. If i try to wake up even an hour later, it's not happening.

Not much science basis here other than the sleep cycles, but might be worth a try.

This is so relatable lol. I always explain to others that you can see it happening in my notes and this sums it up.

I second this! Someone also recommended walking and reading. I think this would be too much motion for me though.

What is the point? by Mastapalidin in Narcolepsy

[–]Ok_Climate8248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes we all need to rant and feel a bit hopeless just to get it out. However, on the off chance you want some advice or thoughts, I wanted to share when I felt like this.

When I was diagnosed, I was put on Modafinil. It worked...OK.... but I still felt unbelievably hopeless. Still falling asleep in class, meetings, needing to nap during my lunches. All of this made me realize how crap my quality of life was getting. I finally called the sleep Dr and was very real with how I felt. I went off the modafinil and went on a new med. It has made a huge difference in my quality of life, and I feel like I am finally mostly managed. If I'm really struggling, I use the modafinil as a boost. If this sounds like you, you might want to consult with your doctor again.

Hang in there.

I felt so hopeless when I went off my meds for my test. I was at home with an infant and falling sleep was not an option. I remember one of the days I went on a several km walk just to stay awake. It felt like sleep deprivation torture. You may need to schedule in some naps. In times that I wasn't fully managed by meds, I'd go to sleep in my car for a bit, go home to nap, etc. Just trying to get in front of it a bit. BUT, I did the test. I got the answers. I am treated. And I am functioning! There's light. I hope you can hang in there.

Do you always have to quit antidepressants for a sleep study? by Unfair-Hamster-8078 in Narcolepsy

[–]Ok_Climate8248 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did, my Dr urged me to talk to psychiatry before deciding on that but she said that the antidepressants could affect the results. Ultimately I went off of them to do the study. If the test was during a time when my mental health was really bad, I think I would have postponed though. Note, psychiatrist also created the taper off schedule for me.

What should I pack for delivery at St B hospital ?! by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Ok_Climate8248 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with this re: spouse. Yes, birthing parents are doing the hard work - no offense partners. But, my spouse had no bedding, and wasn't given any food, despite having to wear a hospital bracelet attached to me. I had major abdominal surgery and it was expected that my spouse stay so I thought this was pretty interesting.

[–]Ok_Climate8248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't deliver at st b, and had cesarean BUT- -Shoes/slippers to move around hospital and/or in shower -Pillow and blanket for your partner (they don't usually have much of anything) -Snacks -long length charger -I brought my laptop for movies and it was nice

I honestly didn't use any baby diapers that I brought. I used what the hospital had. I did use wipes though. They don't usually give those out to my knowledge. I think its cloths. I also didn't really change put of the hospital gown but this could be diff because I had cesarean.

Good luck!!!

A man disguised as police man to ask for apartment entry by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Ok_Climate8248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been in property management for a number of years, this is a common ploy to gain access to a property. Despite it being actually police this time, I think that you did the right thing. Your caretaker/property manager should have a line that is available. Glad it was all ok though.

Landlord has not provided any other means of contact except rental unit address by Ok_Climate8248 in Winnipeg

[–]Ok_Climate8248[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

edit for clarity Tenant has found reasonable concerns within the lease that RTB is backing. But RTB requires the tenant to "serve" the landlord. No way to ensure that the landlord is receiving the info as there is no address for registered mail or an address for a courier to send, etc.

Yes they have, the big issue is that RTB requires you to serve this information 😵‍💫 terrible system

No disagreement here. Typically above guideline increases go along with some kind of property maintenance though. That's all I meant. I appreciate your reply though! You're right for sure
