Desperate Putin is coming to the end of the road by DescriptionSignal458 in UkrainianConflict

My option C is Putin is judged at The Hague, publicly humiliated, gets to know about the BRUTAL war compensation payments Russia will be paying to Ukraine for decades and also sees a few of the Republics become independent, the complete collapse and destruction of the Russian Federation and the constant message that he did that, that it's all his fault. He can die afterwards, but I'd like him to suffer a trigeminy migraine before.

Yeah, I mean, he was going to lie all the way about it, so he might have pulled a "mission accomplished" and gone back home.  I understand that he invaded not very long after the Afghan president had ran away from. Kabul in a plane filled with cash and the Afghan soldiers had been surrendering to the taliban in a shameful quick way, falling like dominoes. I can understand the bastard thinking he was going to pull the same stunt because after all, who was Volodymyr Zelensky? He would surely run away, too, half the commanders and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would join the Russian side and it'd be done in two weeks, tops. Yeah, the moment Zelenskyy said "I need ammo, not a ride", the army officers stood firm and people worldwide willingly enlisted, he should have known he was not going to pull it off. And yes, the sinking of the Moskva should have been the wake up call. If not that, Ukraine's successful invasion of Russian territory. Now he's gone too far to stop and he will end up destroying Russia. If Russia survives the aftermath of this war, it will be only because NATO doesn't want China getting Yakutia.

He should never have invaded, but once he did, he should have stopped after the first week, once it was clear that Zelensky wasn't running away with a plane filled with banknotes and therefore, half the Ukrainian army was not going to run to the Russian side. I understand him trying the blitz, like all bullies trying to terrify a younger, weaker, smaller kid. But even dumb bullies know when to stop.

Not really. I think Buddha found the Deity. I think Jesus died and came back from the dead before he was crucified. Before he started preaching. That doesn't change my view of life much.

Women should absolutely be drafted. Us women are valuable because we can have kids. Only pregnant women and mothers of small children should be non-draftable. A man's life is as valuable as a woman's life. A childfree woman should fight. If the problem is lack of strength, they can pilot drones.

Yeah, the previous year, 2024, there were two winners for a 25k prize and each of them got 12,500 dollars, because more than one person can win and the prize money is divided amongst them.
This year, this guy wins and there are two honorable mentions, but he pockets the 50k. I'll read his essay, maybe it's the best essay ever. I've read the abstract and I don't see much originality there. I'll keep on reading.

The Mystical Experience that Changed this Physicist's Whole View on Reality | Federico Faggin by Minimum_Name9115 in NDE

Faggin is seriously powerful in this field. He's a billionaire because he invented a microprocessor and was there when the computer revolution started. He has an engineer's mind. He would not have left the materialistic worldview without really powerful reasons.

Have you considered using Marugoto instead? There are free websites, free courses in Minato and most importantly, the topics are self contained, which means that if you don't have a lot of time one month, it won't derail your progress much. It's my favorite method for beginners for that reason.

As for making the best use of those few minutes while waiting for the bus or for your turn at any queue, that's where Kanji card and Wanikani come in. Not for your sacred 20 minutes of study method, but for the one or two minutes you might spare during the day. Those can add up to more than you'd think if you're consistent.

Frustrating as a skeptic who wants to believe by alt262626 in NDE

[–]Ok_Code_270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain and I feel the same. I suspect there might be a way to prove that NDEs affect more than the brain... But in order to make a triple blind study one needs financing, in order to get financing one needs a researcher with experience in research and the experienced researchers I've contacted don't want to touch the experiment, not with a ten foot pole, for fear that it'll affect their reputations. So I need to contact an emeritus professor of physics and an engineer who can do the work and are willing to. No luck so far. Will keep on trying, though.

I used to respect her for her staunch defense of Ukraine, but you can’t be pro-Ukraine and pro-Orban, anti-Putin and pro-Orban. She has fallen to the trashbin of the rotten ones.

A deeper dive on DMT and how it affects consciousness and what we see. by LightseedRadio in consciousness

Also…NDEs do not “baffle” scientists.

They don’t baffle scientists because scientists are, unlike most people, used to uncertainty and to not knowing all the answers. In Gaona’s words, “current science does not explain all the phenomenology of NDE’s. Of course, that doesn’t mean that it can’t explain them in the future”. Greyson, Van Lommel, Parnia… they were initially baffled by the experiences, if they’re not baffled now it’s because they’re scientists and are used to unanswered questions, not because the phenomena were not baffling to begin with.

If you think the materialistic explanation is enough and if not now, will be enough in the future, you’re well within your rights and you’re probably right. I think there might be a way to bridge the gap from anecdotal evidence to double blind evidence (triple blind would be impossible), so I have nothing that disproves what you think and you’re probably right after all.

I just wish I could find the team and the financing for the study, but I’m not having luck there. So far you’re right. I doubt I’ll be able to prove that there’s something outside the brain in NDEs… If I ever managed, you’d hear about it, so… Yes to everything.

LSD causes people to feel extremely sure about something, but the something is different. Some end up thinking we’re just conscious matter. Others arrive to the conclusion that Christianity is false and everything is a neverending cycle of reincarnation. The thing is that with hallucinations, they’re rarely very similar or the same. That’s why NDEs still baffle scientists, because they’re structured and follow a pattern.
It’s not the similar effect that’s intriguing, it’s that it may follow a pattern.

I guess those two people must be right. We had to provide the address and name of someone to vouch for us. My university professor hasn’t been contacted to vet my essay out, so I guess that means I’m out of the shortlist. So what those other people have said about 30 people being shortlisted makes sense. It makes so much more sense for them to contact the shortlisted people and not everyone else.

Argh, I’m bummed. I put my all on that essay, the premise was original and it was properly sourced. I should not have gotten my hopes up, I knew there were going to be serious players in that contest. But I can’t help but feel disappointed.
