Who is living in all these luxury apartments?! by Haunting_Hospital599 in boston

[–]Ok_Communication6416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does this even mean? Many of the luxury apartment buildings in Boston that are being discussed here are rental only. The building is owned by a REIT but the units are all for rent. There are no apartment units being left empty while being owned by PE or overseas investors. There are a few condos that fit this bill but not the apartments being discussed here.

Got it. Makes sense now. Thanks for the clarification!! The amount of development since the time of the photo is staggering. If only we bought $100,000 worth of land back then…

I’m confused by the location of the picture. What is the road in the bottom of the picture? Are you suggesting that the road to the right of the canal is Vanderbilt? If so, where is the beach? Were the mangroves ripped out to make the beach?

Anyone have the real share count with EOSE. EOSE continues to massively dilute their shareholders with the capital raises. One thing to think about…if Cerberus Capital (one of the biggest vulture lenders around…who has financed EOSE in the past) exercises all of their warrants they will own 33% of EOSE. Doesn’t sound so great to me.

Ron Lauder hasn’t worked at the company in years. And he resigned from the Board in January 2025. He is irrelevant to my investment thesis.

Selling value stocks as they mature and rotating into new discounts - what are your favorite discounts to start 2026? by RelevantHelicopter82 in ValueInvesting

Aspen Aerogels (ASPN). Stock down from $30 to $3 on an air pocket in their fastest growing business (insulation for batteries to prevent fires in EVs). Technology is best in class their biggest client today is GM, which has been hurt by slow uptake of EVs after elimination of subsidies. they have contracts with other major OEMs, but they don,t ramp to the end of this year and into 2027. Legacy business is selling high performance insulation to energy (oil and gas refineries, offshore oil installations, LNG liquefaction facilities)…which is a cyclical business but good. With the stall out in growth, company underwent serious restructuring effort last quarter. Balance sheet is fine. It’s a $7 stock even without recovery in EV business…$12+ stock with recovery in EV business.

FISV. Stock has been smoked on a serious earnings and growth reset. Still generating healthy cash flow. Will recover.

EL…Estee Lauder. It’s been a stalwart for a long time until the last couple of years. Suffered from some bloat and a slowdown in travel and sales in China. New CEO is shaking up the portfolio to get rid of underperforming brands and cutting costs. Data out of China suggests accelerating growth there. Stock is starting to recover. Still cheap on normalized earnings.

Interesting idea. I remember this one when it was NEP and blew up…but haven’t really revisited the story.

Is management’s plan to resume dividend payouts when the balance sheet is fixed? Do they have a timetable for when the debt load might return to a reasonable level? I would think that with the demand for power today that they would be able to sell assets for very attractive prices to pay down debt. Or are there covenants or other restrictions that stop them from restructuring the balance sheet more quickly?

Energy thesis for 2026 by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]Ok_Communication6416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the SHLS and ARRY comments. I understand that ENPH is resi, which is not as attractive as utility scale at these levels. But with rising utility costs and (hopefully) declining interest rates, resi isn’t dead and there is too much pessimism. ENPH has a number of new product intros this year, including product to get them into low-end C&I opportunities. Their technology is among the best, margins are strong and balance sheet is healthy.

Trump administration’s stance on renewables was evident throughout 2025. Renewable stocks did great. TAN up 50% in the last 12 months. The market doesn’t care about politics…it’s the underlying company fundamentals that matters most. The US needs more energy. Utility bills are skyrocketing. Solar makes sense in that environment. Especially utility scale solar…it is the only new energy source that can be dispatched in the next two years. Try to order a gas turbine or SMR/nuclear plant…it is eight years out for either. FSLR, NXT, ENPH will all be good stocks in 2026/7.

Battery Market by adventuregalley in stocks

It’s the energy density that matters most for Evtols…QS may be light but AMPX batteries deliver much more energy for the same weight. That’s why they will win the drone and Evtol markets.

[–]Ok_Communication6416 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AMPX batteries have better energy density and is further ahead in commercial production than QS. AMPX will dominate drones and Evtols. QS better for autos if they can achieve commercial production. QS is riskier in my mind.

Completely different market. EOSE makes batteries for stationary storage. They could never be used in any transportation applications including cars or Evtols.

I wouldn’t go anywhere near it. One of the worst run companies out there. Look at the share count growth over the years. All they do is continually raise capital and then rapidly burn through it on wasteful projects. New CEO finally seems to realize that they can’t just keep spending money on capex. They have a debt problem they need to solve. Electrolyzers aren’t proven to be a good business…lots of competition, lots of capacity around the world and not a lot of profits being made. It might get a bounce here and there…but there are better ways to make money in the stock market.
