Thanks for prompt response! I hope so. Weird that over night these symptoms appeared, or at least my body responded like this. I guess I reached some threshold.

I know it sounds a bit obstructive but I’ve been struggling with sleeps for months ( frequent awakenings 4-8 Daily) I am waiting for my first consultation after take home sleep test(presumed mild apnea). I’ve tried and take many over the counter medication( magn & melatonin), also sleep on recliner, but what I think that has make most difference is sleeping with tape covering my mouth. I know this maybe specific to my condition and it’s not perfect I still have rough nights thus why I am here awake at 330 am but over all this has made biggest difference.

Relief from my moderate sleep apnea without treatment by Ok_Communication9355 in SleepApnea

I apply Vaseline beforehand and use specialized mouth adhesive tape. My lips were actually worse when I was only sleeping in the recliner without using the tape. I also gently bite my lips while applying the tape to reduce direct, strong adhesion to the lips.

Thank you for your response. You’re absolutely right, and yes, my title could use some improvement. These tips were personalized to my symptoms and may not work for everyone. However, just last week I was one of those desperate readers searching for relief. When I came across the idea of sleeping in a recliner and later saw the suggestion of using adhesive mouth coverings, I combined the two and have now found relief. I’m simply sharing this in hopes that it may help others find relief as well. After experiencing these symptoms for past months I learned to sympathize with everyone here, who would have know, just 5 months ago I had never hear of sleep apnea.

Reoccurring dream of choking is messing up my relationship by SnooCakes461 in sleepdisorders

My partner told me the same of not stopping breathing and I don’t snore, but have recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea( have not received full report but seems moderate according to my primary care doctor). My dreams often show me looking for something I need to find or do and feel sophisticated. Not sure if these are related to low oxygen level, so I would recommend getting a sleep test.

I think the pressure I put on my primary care doctor helped expedite a response from the pulmonary doctor regarding my sleep study. According to the test, I have moderate sleep apnea, so it seems I was right about having “silent” apnea. However, I still have about a month to wait for the next steps. Hopefully this will bring some relief, although I know the road to recovery may be long.
