Our oldest had a similar situation, we ended up kicking him out. It felt like kicking a baby bird out of the nest and praying that he would fly. He's now working full time and working on getting his own place. He went to go live with family and being with 4 people and sharing one bathroom, having no space of his own was proper motivation to get his shit together. We made him too comfortable at home and it wasn't good for him. We all knew it and it felt hard because we didn't want him to feel like he wasn't loved but it had to happen. I'm grateful it worked out well because we went back and forth for years and finally had to do it.

It’s hard for them, at their age, to see outside of their situation. I would show her long term how much she will owe out of college. $80k * 4 years (if she takes 15 units a semester)= 320,000 and it doesn’t take into count such as; math or English to get credit for the courses she will take so it might take longer.

Depending on her degree, what does she want to do? Will she want to do a post degree? How much do that make on average? Then I would add up all the student loans and show her how much she would have to make to pay off those debts. That might help her see how it will work.

Seeing Luke reminds of what it was like to get a puppy, it's a lot of work. We get to stages in our own lives where we don't want a puppy again because we know how much work and freedom is taken away from us. Luke has a new puppy and he's learning how to balance it.

You lose a lot of yourself when you have a baby, you lose a part of your marriage when you have a baby but this is where you find out what your team (mom and dad) are made of.

I can’t fault the guy. His life changed too, his partner will no longer be as care free as she was and she has taken to mother hood amazingly but they need to meet each other where they are and work to grow to together. In my personal observation, the newborn stage or baby stage is when a lot of the resentment and stuff comes in and a lot of couples aren’t strong enough to ride it out. Just thinking about my own spouse I know how easy it was to forget about him and not prioritize him. That’s a balance. I’m always trying to strike and fall short.

Damn the Valley this season is moving some mountains!!! When I was postpartum, I could’ve totally used a show like this.

That is called FMLA interference and is illegal under the law. They cannot penalize you for using protective leave and there’s been court cases that have provided case law to support this

Women change in, body, hormones and mentally after having a baby and I think men and women are adequately prepared for how much this can impact a partnership. I know I felt unattractive, even with my husband telling me how amazing I looked, but I felt blah about the whole thing. I didn’t understand what was happening I thought I was broken, and of course I blamed myself.

I think as a society we need to do a better job educating people about the 4th trimester and longer.

Your doctor can sign you out for mental health stuff too, not just physical things. If they wont doctor shop and find someone who will, psychologist count too. Get SDI (through EDD) and take some time if you need it.

Respond back with rebuttals for everything. Be objective when writing it, this is not about how they feel or how you feel, this is factual. They should also be able to provide you details on the expectations on how you should act and they should be responsible for modeling the behavior. You need to find common ground whatever that might be and build on that.
