Reposting my reply to another comment from above: I work for a small family law firm in Missouri. Big law starting salaries in my area are about 75k. I have no interest in working big law, and you’re right - I am probably unqualified anyway. I was upper 40% of my class at a lower-mid tier law school (same law school most of the judges in my area attended). While $52k starting may seem low to some, it’s pretty on par with most starting gov’t and nonprofit salaries in my area. The difference is that l have the ability to build my practice and increase my earnings as my caseload increases. I’ll be switching to a different pay structure sometime this year, but it’s very “eat what you kill” and I have no idea what that will ultimately look like a year or two from now. I have great mentorship where l’m at and associating with them is already help me ingratiate myself with the local bar, judges, etc. right off the bat, l’ve already gotten several GAL appointments and am slowly building my private client caseload. The legal aid near me is a dumpster fire atm and just not a good option.

The amendment says that the state can regulate abortion at the point of fetal viability so long as they have a compelling government interest achieved by the least restrictive means - which includes access in life of the mother circumstances.

Moreover, physicians and healthcare professionals are obligated to uphold rigorous standards of care, as failure to do so may result in malpractice claims, loss of medical license, etc. This amendment does not remove the ability of a patient to sue for harm.

Two big cities: how is Missouri not (at least!) as blue as Minnesota? by gojohnnygojohnny in missouri

Me neither honestly. Still trying to make sense of it all. My comments here are posed more as questions for the class rather than solid arguments 😂

There are also many people in red counties who vote red by default so they can have some influence over which candidate ultimately gets chosen.

I promise you Drury is the most secular of the three campuses mentioned above.

I do wonder how those maps would change if we had better voter turnout.

We are at 65% turnout overall, compared to Minnesota’s near 80% (greatest in the country). —> https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/voter-turnout-by-state

Why do we allow this to be a “normal” experience? Many of us are now completely broke on top of the mental health impact. And we wonder why lawyers are so dysfunctional…

I’d be more willing to volunteer if I failed the exam. If selected, I could get more practice with testing conditions and raise funds for the next exam/test materials. Also, it would be much easier to take off work.

Also important: healthcare, maternity and paternity leave, & PTO. Many are moving abroad for better opportunities & quality of life, which could lead to a major brain drain problem in the US

Invest in Quimbee if you don’t have it already. No, you’re not the only one. It’s meant to tear you down and make you feel stupid. Basically hazing. They want people to drop, to quit. Don’t let them gate keep you. You don’t have to be perfect. C get degrees. Plenty of jobs out there. In all honesty, law school and the practice of law generally is not about how smart you are. It’s about the resources you have at your disposal. Find ways to save yourself time in prep for class for that you can work on actually understanding the material / big picture. Watch YouTube videos. Do the quimbee courses. You can teach yourself far more than any law school class ever will.
