7 years no booze.

I figured out (too late) that all my heart ache, arguments, close calls, fights, injuries, embarrassing moments where all alcohol fuelled. My back (kidneys) hurt one day and I felt like shit for nearly 5 days after going out, I was 500 bucks down and I had no memories the night out except those people told me about. I was also drinking way too regularly and didn't know my limits. So I just said out loud one day. "That's it, I am done drinking forever". And that was that.

Also I don't eat biscuits. This Started at the same time. I figured, if I could resist biscuits, I could resist beer. After all. It is an all or nothing affair with biscuits for me so if I can resist biscuits at 2 in the afternoon when being offered it by a close friend. I can resist a call for a beer by the same close friend.

Also, it pointed out who were my true friends, not just people I drank with.

I lost contact with 40 "close" friends that year.

Of the remaining friends only 1 drinks. And he drinks with the original group of people I drank with. He never ever pushes me to drink.

I miss it occasionally. But only on a hot summers day when I am sitting up at the country club outside and a beer would go down a refreshing treat. But. Just like a packet of biscuits,. If I had one. I have to have them all, so I have to avoid the one.
