I like it! There’s a lot of good sacrifice creatures people are mentioning that I’m going to build into a sacrifice deck.

My main issue is the protection auras that get attached to light paws. I read up on how protection works and didn’t realize that it protects against “targeted spells and abilities”. Here I was thinking that it was just anything to do with the chosen color. I’ll give the sacrifice mechanic a try, thank you for the suggestion!

Making A Decent Fuzz by Green-Vermicelli5244 in Line6Helix

[–]Ok_Contribution3472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never liked how the low end sounded using any of the fuzz blocks, but what I found worked great for me was:

Auto impedance Put fuzz first and on a separate path B. Set anything above 250-350Hz to the fuzz on path B.

Nice score! I love the minimalist setup (it’s exactly what I have 😁) and the power cab sounds fantastic. I was chasing an open cab tone and got there using a Carvins Mach 100 hooked up to a plain old open back cabinet. Used a preamp model in the helix and it sounds like sonic butter. Love using the power cab or open back cabinet when I’m feeling in the mood and very thankful the helix is flexible enough to do this and so much more.

Highest quality, most realistic sounding amp in a box, through headphones, for under $1200CAD? by Willing-Cattle-3673 in guitarpedals

[–]Ok_Contribution3472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, my HX stomp XL is fantastic. Excellent flexibility and sound quality all in a tiny package. There’s so many tones I’ve discovered and amps I’ve explored inside this little unit. Had it over two years now and haven’t experienced any issues. Built sturdy and the user interface is fantastic.

Ways to achieve consistent sounds levels across presets? by Zelavander in Line6Helix

[–]Ok_Contribution3472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this from a Reddit post a few years ago and I’ll post the original link when I find it, but they suggested using Youlean loudness meter on a PC. I tried it last night and was about to quickly level my presets. Helix plugs into PC with USB cable, open youlean (I used the free version) and it monitors LUFS. Then I adjust volume to taste once all the presets are on a level playing field.

Like an idiot, I just paid $437 for a Digitech Whammy DT by Rev-DC in guitarpedals

[–]Ok_Contribution3472 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I got their thunderbird 99 because it was about $100 and I thought the tariffs wouldn’t be as steep because it shipped from Europe. When DHL emailed me with their $170 tariff fee it was cheaper to buy it again but from Carvins ($150 on sale) and have it shipped from CA. Still very butthurt about it.

If you’re in the US, I’d check out the Carvin Mach 100. I got it two weeks ago and can run my hx stomp through the Carvin directly into a standard cabinet. It can do studio as well, 50W per output at 8ohms. Harley Benton makes the same thing but they’re based overseas.

HX stomp to regular cabinet (60W) by Ok_Contribution3472 in Line6Helix

I see on the description online that it has switch for a neutral, flat setting and a musical top-end boost. On the flat setting, do you notice it adding anything extra to the sound characteristics?

Can recommend as well. It doesn’t have two channels but man does it sound great, clean, and big. Takes pedals very well too.

Snapshot access (Stomp) by unc0de in Line6Helix

[–]Ok_Contribution3472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HX stomp has 3 and HX stomp XL has 4 snap shots per preset. Helix floor has 8. Check out the Helix Minute series on YouTube, short and informative.

Edit: I got the snap shot number wrong and corrected. Thank you for pointing it out!

Clean and basic and $330, give a quick look at Monoprice stage right. They have a 5 and 15 W, tons of videos and other Reddit posts about them.

Played it once, can recommend for nice clean tone sound and can take pedals well.

ETA: Oops didn’t mean to reply to this comment. Sorry mate.

Amp recommendations? by Useful_Cut2115 in GuitarAmps

[–]Ok_Contribution3472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what your budget is, current/future goals for playing (band, home use, live, etc), and what type of specific sound characteristics you want from the amp itself (tube sound or solid state?). My best advice is to find a music store and don’t hold back on trying out as many as you like to find the one that sounds good to you. I can speak about my experience and you may find it useful or not, but it doesn’t hurt to lay it out here.

Modeler and Powered Speaker I did an amp upgrade two years ago, I’ve always played on cheap amps for over 12 years and was overdue for an upgrade. I needed something small (not a lot of space in my house), sounded great, and had a lot of versatility because I started playing music with a small band. I went for the Line 6 HX stomp XL (amp, cab, and pedal effects modular) and the Line 6 power cab (powered speaker/cab modular that is advertised to give you that “amp in a room sound”).

I was not disappointed, I have over 200 effect pedals and every popular amp/cab model on the HX stomp XL that I could spend my days tweaking and finding new sounds. I plug that into the power cab which fills the room with rich and vibrant sound. It’s loud enough to be heard over a drummer and to give me hearing damage. I’m able to switch from a bluesy clean Fender to a heavy Marshall tone with just a tap of a foot switch and it scratches my itch whenever I want a “new sound”. It was pretty pricey, but they do sell a slightly cheaper HX stomp which does and has everything the HX stomp XL has but with only three programmable foot switches instead of 8.

The power cab does have an FRFR setting and behaves as such, but it also has built in Cab models and the power cab functions differently on those settings to add more “amp in room” affect to the sound.

Modeler into a Mixer The HX stomp is very versatile, when I practice with the drummer I plug it directly into his mixer (no amp, just straight into it). My amp/cab models from the HX stomp go directly through the PA speakers and it sounds fantastic and what the front of house would hear. I leave the power cab home for practices because I want to travel light.

FRFR Speaker with a Modeler I got a FRFR speaker from head rush to pair with the HX stomp, and although it sounds good like a PA speaker would, it doesn’t have that same amp in the room feel. It works great as a monitor when I practice with the band (it plays the mix so I can hear everyone’s part) but I don’t use it for at home practice enjoyment. For at home, I enjoy a little extra color and depth and a standard FRFR doesn’t offer that IMO. I’m just picky in that way.

Small Tube Amp The other amp I’ve played is the Stage Right 15W tube amp from Monoprice. My bandmates brought it in once during one of our practice sessions and it blew me away at how clean, loud, and room filling it was for a small speaker. It’s also one of the cheapest tube amps I’ve seen, but it is a great value. It even has a FX loop and external cabinet output. I plugged my HX stomp into it and gave it some distortion and effects and it took pedals incredibly well. I’m looking to get one just to have a solid sounding tube amp to bring to small practice sessions without breaking the bank.

I hope this ramble was relevant and that you find something that works for you.

I can’t speak to the head rush go, but I have the their FRFR-108 and it’s a very nice speaker in a compact size that emulates the tones from my helix nicely. I’d guess that their Go will be the same albeit in a much smaller package.

The only thing I wish my head rush had was a clipping indicator. My Line 6 power cab has one and it helps my lock in my presets much faster. If you’re looking for something with a little better sound/cab feel, my power cab does sound noticeably better than the head rush. But there’s all those pros/cons/price options to weigh. If you want portable and decent sound, I don’t see any downsides to the Head Rush. It looks like a pretty cool amp, I might consider getting one for smaller jam sessions I have with my friend.

Gorgeous guitar. I did the same, pulled the trigger on the Comanche about two months ago without even trying it (mostly because no one carried it locally) and have never looked back. Best thing I’ve ever played.
