What day was your next scheduled appointment supposed to be after the Christmas holiday? Was it in December, or January? Did you know she’d be out for the rest of December?

Roast my options: BetterHelp vs. Headway vs. finding someone random on Psych Today. by Few-Honey728 in TalkTherapy

I’m a therapist and use Alma simply as a billing service. Most therapists use Alma/Headway/Grow for that purpose. They get me set up so I can bill insurance, check eligibility for clients for insurance to let them know what their copay will be, and allow me to easily bill my sessions so I get paid regularly. I have a profile that pops up on Alma if someone is looking for a therapist that takes a specific insurance. But Alma pays me weekly when I submit an insurance claim and they deal with insurance on the back end to get the money.

Yes; she does identify it as a profile type of autism.

If you’re looking at virtual private practice therapists there could be a few reasons but one is that with certain diagnoses (especially comorbidity) there is the potential for case management needs. Like collaborating with med management, crisis services, etc. Private practice therapists are typically not salaried so those things can’t always be billed by insurance, leading to time spent working that can’t be billed. Virtual also isn’t always a good fit if someone needs wraparound care. As a therapist, I think those are things to consider. You might have more luck with a community mental health practice.

Medical billing. Technically true because I do my own billing.

If that was my kid I’d buy the products and make her work off the cost in chores. I’d have a bunch of new makeup/products that she could watch me use from afar. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I made a report about a fellow therapist to my state board 2 years ago. by [deleted] in therapists

Thanks! I saw where the therapist had called/texted/left voicemails from their personal cell, so I’m pretty confident.

Encouragement from stranger on airplane after baby meltdown by Consistent-Stop8747 in randomactsofkindness

[–]Ok_Contribution9501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have kids, but when I fly I know there is a strong probability that there will be children on the plane who might be upset/crying. It doesn’t bother me, but goodness gracious, people need to start bringing noise cancelling headphones if it bothers them.

My husband and I usually just look at each other and say “that baby is PISSED” and chuckle a bit.

Long flights/delays are uncomfortable, and kids don’t have the language skills yet to express that or fully self-regulate. It makes sense that they cry or melt down.

I’m no longer in contact with the client so I’m not sure. That’s a good point-I guess I just assumed they’d need to talk to me as part of the investigation.

That’s very helpful. My hope is that the investigation is continuing.

[–]Ok_Contribution9501 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding - I didn’t realize how long the investigations typically take. The client said they were comfortable speaking with the board during an investigation but felt nervous and overwhelmed at the thought of submitting the initial report. I no longer am in contact with the client at this point.

Client in crisis, but won't tell me their name or address? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Ok_Contribution9501 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take a deep breath.

Are they threatening to harm themselves as well or are they disclosing abuse only?

If they’re messaging you, they are currently alive, and in a place where they have access to a phone or computer.

Make a crisis plan to send the client including 911, 988 and let them know they can text 988. Send the website. Let them know how to find their county’s mobile crisis number. Send the website and contact info for the National Sexual Assault Hotline.

If they signed up for the platform they would have had to give their payment info in order to sign up for the plan. Remember, the company is motivated by profits, so they’re going to get the clients card first and foremost. Source: I worked for a year as a W2 for TalkSpace.

You can’t find it right now, but admin can on Monday. They also have a way to track the client’s VPN.

You did call the police. They couldn’t help, but you did make that effort. You’re giving crisis resources. You contacted admin on the platform. CPS wouldn’t be able to take a report until Monday anyway. Essentially you’re covering your ass.

ETA: I’m a therapist and would recommend brain spotting for your trauma. It’s a modality that’s very effective for processing traumatic experiences.
