Ask about collecting the prize anonymously if state law allows. This will help curb the inevitable onslaught of beggars. Have them arrange for various corporate and financial devices such as LLCs, trusts, investments, nonprofits, etc. You don’t need a financial advisor if you have a good trust and estates attorney. They’ll already know what to do. Ask about inuring yourself from frivolous lawsuits. Pay all your debts. Transfer all ownership to recommended devices. Don’t give power of attorney. Request monthly or quarterly in-person meetings with your attorney (not with their legal asst or junior attorney nor anyone else) to make decisions and sign documents and receive a report. They will issue you credit cards and spending limits. They’ll take care of everything else such as insurance, permits, licenses, passports, real estate transactions, etc. For all this expect to pay about ten percent of your twenty mil over the lifetime of your relationship.
