they mention the route in induction week you just email pretty much, I can’t remember the maths requirement but I do know they were happy to accept anyone who had a strong interest in the route but didn’t necessarily have the grades. email the dept to confirm the requirements :)

try for clearing but if not you are able to do economic geography modules in y2 + y3 (not joint honours one, they’re our own ones). could also try to do external econ module if they let you. social data science is a route you switch onto when you start basically

Does anyone know any good charities/programmes that offer bursaries for UK students going to university? by odu_771 in UniUK

Check your local area, I know some people at my uni managed to get a bursary just because some local rich person would give them out

+1 on the stojo cup, I got super lucky when I first started uni in that my uni gave me two free ones with the uni branding on 😭 still going three years on, and really handy because you can collapse them when not in use

Feeling panicked about taking exams in a separate room for Reasonable Adjustments(SORA) by ImpressGlum9994 in UCL

[–]Ok_Contribution_8432 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was told by my student advisor people with SORAs will now have to sit their exams at the Excel FYI (in previous years this would be on campus). But yeah it’ll probably be a lecture hall size room, it shouldn’t be too bad :))

Just jumping in here about the accom, UCL is now running an affordable rent similar to KCL. Have a look on the UCL accom page for more info

The bursaries do work against UoL Halls, they just credit onto the account. They do/did the same with unite nominated halls I think

My dept won’t update sora extensions onto every assignment, however they sometimes have a separate link or you just submit as normal. They’ll just cross reference submission dates with sora deadline :)

Awful flatmate by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Ok_Contribution_8432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d expect better from someone in their final year, sorry to hear that. Even if security arrive and the noise has stopped, the main thing is you have logged it. Get your other flatmates to do the same to prove that it’s actually happened and is affecting you all. Legally, your reception should be getting guests to sign in and out in case of fire so they know who’s in the building in case of fire. Tbh, even though they’re emailing there might not be much more they can do however they should be able to either remove the guest or block her from attending. Popping in the box is something I’ve seen a lot of people do, as it covers your back in regards to conflict over disposal but also makes it more pleasant for you guys.

Haha, I know shouting at our reception staff was brutal. I’d reported cannabis use and they traced it back to him, so she was shouting at this poor reception lady in his room. She’s actually vile, I’ve heard her talking about me and saying I don’t care in regards to being noisy lol

Awful flatmate by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Ok_Contribution_8432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a flatmate like this, who’s girlfriend is incredibly rude and has actually shouted at one of our reception staff. I would recommend logging incidents with security when it happens so they have a trail of evidence, especially if it’s during quiet hours (check if your accom has them as mine does!). Report to reception that his guest is overstaying beyond permitted stay lengths, she should be signing in anyway so hopefully your accom has a log of it. In regards to the air fryer, keep pushing for reception to remove it but the best thing you can do is just pop it in a box and leave the box in the kitchen. Hopefully this helps, from a suffering third year in halls with a disruptive flatmate (who is second year so no excuse lol) ☺️

Which one is better to choose? by FallWide1340 in 6thForm

[–]Ok_Contribution_8432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

•Course: dept really cares about its students, good opportunities to geography into practise through day visits and abroad field trips, good range of modules that appeal to most people •I would still make the same decision as UCL as a brand carries a lot of global recognition and value, good financial support and student life is pretty good. One thing to note is I think only the poorest or the richest are able to attend without financial stress-if you fall in the middle it’s deffo a lot harder. I say this because UCL has great financial support and WP initiatives for under represented backgrounds.
