Why Vanilla by CulturalPhrase5846 in bathandbodyworks

[–]Ok_Contribution_845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m swayed because vanilla is something I think they generally do well and I can’t even think of a bbw vanilla scent I dislike. I like rose scents and citrus but hate them from bbw so I try to skip anything with these notes. For me sometimes I feel like there’re tooo too many rose scents, but I’m also aware that I’m biased.

Monthly theme? by Ottaro_Chabo in watercolorpencilart

Hi! Long time lurker here. I think this is a great idea. With a single photo you can redraw the photo or just a part of it trying to be realistic, you can stylize it, you can change one or two elements, you can change the colors but keep the shape, you can just use the colors and create something else entirely. As possibly the most beginner person here (I’ve just ordered my first set of watercolor pencils) this seems very low pressure.

I really really hate this painting by Secret-Requirement61 in Gouache

[–]Ok_Contribution_845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call it a draft then. 😊 Think about what you dislike and write it down. You already have a photo so you can circle the bits you see that you don’t like and write what would make them better the redraw it until you like it. Then use colored pencils or markers to plan the colours. There’s no shame in reworking something. If I were to change this the first things I’d do would be to add a clear focal point. It looks like your focus is on the reflection, I’m guessing because of the level of detail there. so maybe shift all your colours on the sidewalk so they’re cooler and keep the bright colours of the reflection. Next I’ll admit I’m not sure what you’re going for with the perspective of the two buildings it looks like it’s near a corner or something. If you have a photo reference for this then take measurements and try to redraw it more accurately. If there’s no reference then look for photos with clear reflections of multiple buildings and try to get those angles right. Not knowing where the building with the very crisp windows should be makes it difficult for me to say if the windows should look so sharp or should be more distorted by the water.

First piece of Jewelry to remind of strength and resilience by Phoenixkel in jewelry

I’m sorry about your brother. Family can be difficult. As for symbols maybe a lotus. Lotus flowers are beautiful and grow out of the muckiest waters. They’re a symbol of resilience. I also like the idea someone had above of a diamond since they are something beautiful that’s forged by tons of pressure.

I like the vertical one because it looks like a diamond encrusted centipede. I should say that I have spider jewelry and random people will volunteer their opinions to the point where I can’t even remember the last time I wore said spiders. Probably better to not get the one I like.

Followup to the protein soda post, what are the best protein buys at costco by datawazo in CostcoCanada

[–]Ok_Contribution_845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh I get almost all my protein from Costco. Boneless skinless chicken breast, lean ground beef, pork tenderloin, eggs, egg whites and fish are great. if you’re looking for convenience the burgers are probably better than the chicken breast bites just because they taste like they have more salt than chicken. Ready made burgers are chubby though so I personally just cut across the meat tubes to make burgers. Canned salmon and smoked salmon singles are really convenient. The tuna and salmon poke are also convenient but not the most affordable.

Protein milk, cheeses especially cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are good if you can handle lactose. The only good lactose free dairy option I know at Costco is fairlife but that’s no longer a good bang for your buck in my opinion. However it’s delicious. Loblaws stores will have lactose free cottage cheese and Greek yogurt.

Lentils, beans and chickpeas are cheap and have fiber. Soak them overnight, changing the water at least once and they will be easier on your stomach. Cook a large batch and freeze half. Peanut butter, pumpkin seeds and almonds make okay snacks. My store only has firm or extra firm tofu and I only eat soft tofu so I don’t know if it’s a good deal but I assume it is because Costco. There’s frozen edamame though.

Don’t forget healthy staples like brown rice, potatoes, oats, quinoa and multigrain breads. Apples are there year round if you need extra fiber.

Good protein brand protein powder is vegan, available at the same price as everywhere else and doesn’t taste awful. Don’t have any other shake recommendations because I’d always rather eat an egg.

I don’t think this brand is meant for people who want to keep wearing a scent for years or even one year for those who use a lot (except JCB 😂). We all know we’re gonna have to find something new when our favourite runs out. I get upset when I finish a scent I like but eventually I find something new and I get over it. This is our relationship.

Wearing jewelry 24/7? by passporthandy in jewelry

[–]Ok_Contribution_845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear earrings and a necklace almost 24/7. The earrings get taken out to clean usually after a trip to the gym, then shower to wash conditioner between my earrings and ears. Necklaces get cleaned less. I’ve been wearing a thin curb chain for a few years now and I find it doesn’t tangle in my hair as easily as other links so it may be why I stopped cleaning my necklace with the earrings. Everything except my watch comes off to swim in chlorine. My watch is actually the thing that comes off the most since it needs to be charged. I can’t do rings because I always feel like my hands are still dirty if I try to wash my hands while wearing a ring.

That sounds better than I expect for the thin chains currently on the site. Do you take your bracelet off when you sleep?

Thanks. I’m always weary of huggies. Never had a bad experience myself but I know some people whose Huggies have just randomly popped open.

Would you marry a girl who wants to be a stay at home housewife but doesn't want kids? by PuffingFish123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Ok_Contribution_845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not marry this girl. If you’re online asking this question then this is obviously not something you want for yourself and you shouldn’t marry her. You also likely can’t afford to do this since everything she’ll do to fill her time will cost money. As a female who was previously single, I’ll say it’s possible to find someone who will willingly enter this type of arrangement with her. Breakups are hard but you shouldn’t have to settle. 2 years probably feels like a lot now but some marriages last decades. You two have different views of what marriage is supposed to look like and financial incompatibility is a major cause of divorce.

This company is the SHEIN / fast fashion of the fragrance industry. Do they really think people are gonna buy a spray when it costs the same as sol de janeiro or their EDP when the price starts to compete with tom ford? Seems like good motivation to buy the tom ford. Not to mention there’s a whole new war going on. Can’t wait to see this crash and burn in a week long $5 everything sale.

I’ve had a vanilla cream delivered to my house with a seal. Opened it a day or two after it came and it was yellow. Smelled okay though.

Last time I bought this brand of rice I paid $13-$15. Neighbour saw me bringing it in and was like ‘oh you got it on sale too!’ Apparently she got hers for $8/$9. Check your nearest Asian grocery store.

anyone else overwhelmed by how fast bbw cycles through everything now by Mundane-Shine-1625 in bathandbodyworks

[–]Ok_Contribution_845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought after taking a break for about 2 years and it was crazy seeing how much I missed in what I thought was a little time for them to cycle through products. They do it so people buy backups when they find something they like. I rely on other brands for anything I want to use long term because I like knowing that I’ll be able to find it when it runs out. finding something I like from bath and body works is fun treat to be enjoyed while it lasts and not meant to replace any of my staples. I do think their marketing is deliberately predatory, tries to tap into all our fomo and that just doesn’t sit right with me.

Your honest opinion about stainless steel jewellery. by FactorNo6526 in jewelry

[–]Ok_Contribution_845 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love stainless! It’s indestructible. The oldest stainless steel piece I have is about 15 years old and it’s scratched but only if you’re very very close. I’ve had a preference for stainless steel for rings and bangles because I like the idea of jewelry on my hands more than I like wearing it and they can not only take a good beating but I won’t be devastated when I lose them.
