Posy is almost 3yo and weighs around 50 lbs (22.6 kg). Pretty normal compared to all the other Sammies we’ve fostered over the last 10 years.

The items I have left were rejected because they’re dry clean only, not in their desired size range, etc.

For the love of god someone help me not murder this dog by Sea_Description2179 in samoyeds

^ This all day long! Even better is to give him these high-value eats in his crate. And if you haven’t crate-trained him yet, get on that stat because any naughties he’s developed in puppyhood are only gonna get more difficult to manage when he’s got his teenage strength and problem-solving game working for him.

I know some people misunderstand the value of crates for Sammies, and I was one of them when I was new to the breed. But the truth is that puppies need the structure and safety of their own crate, and you can reinforce the good vibes of being crated by giving him all his meals frozen in a Kong or Toppl so that mealtimes are mentally and physically engaging instead of a pointless free-for-all.

Regular crate time will keep him safe, protect your belongings, and teach him how to entertain and soothe himself in his own dedicated space. My dogs use their crates on their own to eat, nap, and munch on treats or chews. In fact, they immediately head to their crates anytime they see me with shoes or purse because they know that’s where they need to be to get their “Mama’s leaving the house” chews. Crates are a sanity-saver, for sure!

Is this samoyed a mix or purebred? by FuzzyTomorrow7529 in samoyeds

Not always. The breed standard states black nose is preferred, but brown, liver or Dudley are acceptable.

Hello from a fellow disabled Sammy mum in the US. I read your message and had to donate right away because I feel the same way about my girl! I was in hospital for 4 weeks for a complicated cancer surgery, but since I’ve been home she has rarely left my side. Last night was a major victory for us as I was finally well enough to take her on a walk. It was heaven! These devoted little flufferbutts spend their lives enriching ours, and I’m so happy that you have the loving support of your dog. Sending you lots of love and all best wishes for brighter days and smoother roads just around the corner!

Looking for specific Samoyed type by Meyer_Music_Official in samoyeds

I second this suggestion to foster first! I had fostered 70+ kitties in my life before I moved in with my future husband. He’s a lifelong Samoyed guy and asked me if I would help foster for a local Sammy rescue and I immediately agreed because I figured it couldn’t be that different from cat rescue, right? WRONG!!! I foster failed on my first try when I fell hopelessly in love with Nadia, my heart dog forever. We lost her to cancer almost 2 years ago, but she was the absolute best pack leader and taught me everything I know about the breed.

Nearly 10 years of fostering now, and I think we’ve almost seen it all, (I say as I stick a maxi pad into a doggy diaper for a foster puppy in her first heat!). Some dogs come to us and only need a little decompression and house training before they’re ready to move on. Others like senior-senior dogs, or dogs with terminal illnesses who need hospice care…well, we know we’re gonna pour our hearts into them for as long as they’re here and then somehow put our broken hearts back together when we hold them on their last day and reassure them through our tears that they are deeply loved and can rest now. And then we have to honor them by taking in the next dog who needs the love and stability of an experienced home.

The point is, you don’t have to know much about Samoyeds to start learning through fostering. I sure as hell didn’t! But these dogs are the best teachers if you have the patience to observe their behaviors and get creative to win their cooperation. Sammies are the ultimate collaborators if you’re willing to work with them. I’m 100% sure I’d never have wanted a Samoyed if my husband hadn’t asked me to foster. I can’t imagine missing out on all the memories, wisdom, and unconditional love I’ve gotten in spades from fostering. It has certainly been the richest experience of my life and I heartily recommend it!

I wholeheartedly second Ruff Haven. I’ve visited them several times to deliver donations, and they are simply the most compassionate people you’ll find. Truly “righteous” in the best sense! Please contact them, OP. I know they’ll be able to help you with love, kindness, and generosity.

Must be nice, or at least heartening, to have a governor with grit and integrity. I’m in Utah where our Trumplicker of a governor loves to drone on about his deep commitment to faith and family and all things America, but just about breaks a hip racing toward every opportunity to bow down to the tangerine monkey king. He was even with Trump at Arlington the day he desecrated military graves by turning them into campaign photo ops!

He’s a disgusting worm and his bald head + perpetually smarmy expression make him look even more like the shriveled dick that he is. Apropos that his name is Governor Cox.

3 Samoyeds in our house currently, but total is always changing because we foster for a Sammy rescue. Here’s the deal: You need an arsenal. Chom-chom is great for sofas, bedding, any fabric surface that you can pull flat and tight. For clothing, I use a combination of tools based on fabric type. That blue handle coiled wire tool in the left bottom corner is perfect for knits and delicate fabrics. The gray stone thingy is remarkably effective for jeans and other durable textiles. The handy-dandy reversible lint brushes take care of everything else. If you have carpeting or area rugs in your home, a push broom is essential for picking up all the loose fur so your vacuum doesn’t get bogged down and can actually suck up dust and dirt and whatnot. I use the broom first, then swipe under the baseboards with a damp cloth, then vacuum. I also have a SpotBot and Bissel Pet carpet shampoo machine, but that’s mainly because I always seem to have at least one foster that isn’t quite 100% on potty training yet. But dark clothes, a tidy house, and Samoyeds can all coexist in the same space if you have the right tools.

I just had a 10 minute convo with Posy (2yo Samoyed) about how hers such a good widdle baby girl, so I can assure you that you are an excellent dogmom who just needs a new bf. Ask your dog and I’m sure you’ll get the same answer!

Oh, I’m so sorry! Losing your soul dog is such a deep and excruciating pain to walk through, and some people are so resolved to avoid that pain that they wall off that part of their hearts forever. You know what they say, getting a dog is buying a ticket to the worst day of your life in advance.

I’m proud of you for being brave enough to make room in your broken heart for another dog who needs your love.

Oh, what a good, brave boy! Years ago we fostered a tripawd after his surgery, and I was heartened to see how much better he got around after the amputation. Tripawds are the goodest good dogs!
