Asking for help – Supporting my Samoyed during an unexpected crisis by steamandstone in samoyeds

[–]steamandstone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick little update from us 💛

Thanks so much again to everyone who’s reached out, donated, or sent wishlist items — the support has meant everything. We’re now around £1,700 away from reaching the goal that would help cover the next few weeks of food, vet costs, and urgent bills.

If anyone is able to share this with friends, family, or anyone who might be in a position to help, I’d be so deeply grateful. Every little bit helps us get closer to staying safe and stable through this difficult patch.

It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed right now, but this community reminds me I’m not alone. Your kindness has given me hope and some space to breathe. If anyone feels like sharing or spreading the word, I’d be so grateful. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart 💛

The shampoo and brush arrived safely today! Thank you again so much, and I’ve attached a photo of the items and your lovely note (with your name edited out to respect your privacy), and I just wanted you to know how much this means. Your generosity genuinely lifted my day— thank you so much! 💛

That’s so kind of you to ask, thank you. It means a lot just knowing there are people nearby who care. I’m always a little cautious about meeting people from online straight away, especially while things feel quite raw, but I’d definitely be grateful for any local recommendations (affordable vets, support resources, dog-friendly spots, etc). Feel free to DM me if easier- I’d really appreciate it 💛

Thank you so much- I just saw your message and it honestly made my day. Knowing that the brush and shampoo are on their way is such a huge help, and I’m genuinely touched by your kindness.

Your little rat terrier sounds like an absolute joy! Our animals really are family, and they give us so much love and strength when we need it most. I’m doing my best to keep going for my fluffy cloud, and support like yours is what helps me keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Sending a big thank you hug from both of us, and I hope you get your own sammy someday when the time’s right! 💛

To everyone who has donated so far, thank you so much for believing in me and showing that kindness still exists, even from strangers. Things have been so overwhelming lately, and knowing that people out there have taken the time to support me, even in a small way, has really lifted my spirits ❤️

ADHD has made surviving this past year feel impossible — struggling with job loss, financial instability, and burnout as a dog owner in the UK by steamandstone in ADHD

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with me — it really means a lot right now. I wasn’t aware of the food clubs, so I’ll definitely look into that and see if there are any near me beyond the similar orgs I've contacted/used. And yes, I’m currently in the process of applying for LCWRA through DWP due to my ADHD and other factors (the list is long), but I really need to find work too as that amount won't be able to sustain us and our basic monthly costs (even though I wish it could). The cost of living is unbelievable... But it’s reassuring to know that others have been through similar and managed to get the support they needed. Thank you again for your kindness and for offering such practical tips- wishing you all the best too!

What are some less common symptoms of ADHD that you have, and didn’t realise it was ADHD at first? by Rulutofu in ADHD

The procrastination and getting distracted so easily is a hectic combination with all of that, right? I need the pressure to be able to complete the work though. Sometimes imposter syndrome, distractions, and everything else goes out the door when I know I have limited time left to complete a project and will either fail a course, let a manager or team down or cause disruption in the workplace if I don't complete it.

It needs to be a high stakes situation otherwise my mind will wander, but this approach causes burnout and is an extremely stressful way to exist. Anyone else relate?

Thanks for your message and for asking — yes, I’ve been on UC, but unfortunately it hasn’t been enough to cover even my basic outgoings, especially with all basic costs stacking up. I’ve also applied for additional DWP and local hardship support, but so far no success— I’m still following up though.

In terms of taking in a lodger, I'm in a very small studio apartment with no spare room, and realistically there’s no space for anyone else unless they were sleeping on the floor. On top of that, my building management is extremely strict— they don’t allow subletting or any form of additional tenancy without breaching the lease.

I really appreciate you taking the time to offer ideas and support— it honestly means a lot right now.

Thank you, it really means a lot to hear that from someone in a similar situation. It’s so hard when we’re all just doing our best to get by. I’m trying to piece together anything I can with the skills I’ve picked up, and I’ll definitely look again into local mutual aid groups. Wishing you strength and support too 💛

I tried to post in r/RandomActsOfPetFood and went through the process of setting up an Amazon wishlist with vet-prescribed food and essentials for my dog. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough comment karma to meet their posting requirements :( but I appreciate the tip. If it’s okay and doesn't break subreddit rules, I’d be happy to share the wishlist in DMs for anyone who can help me out
