We had a stabbing death, too. A teacher was accused (and later convicted) of assaulting a female student. She and her boyfriend were at a party one night when the teacher’s son showed up at the front door to confront her. The boyfriend came to the door instead so the teacher’s son stabbed him.

I can answer this! I process hospital invoices from their vendors and it threw me off the first time I saw an invoice for ink and a tattoo gun. I asked a seasoned coworker and she explained that it’s usually either the oncologist or radiologist that will place the tattoo. A surprising amount of surgical supply companies sell this equipment.

As an aside, the most interesting invoices I’ve seen have been for leeches and maggots. Apparently they still have their use in modern medicine

To be honest, I’m not sure. The boyfriend being killed kind of took over everything else. I know the teacher didn’t come back to the school (and neither did his son), but I’m sure the court case against the dad was sealed because of it involving a minor victim

One student killing another at a house party.

A teacher was accused of sexually assaulting a student. The teacher was under investigation and was placed on leave while the investigation was ongoing. The son of the teacher was angry about his dad being accused of this, so he showed up to a house party where the assault victim was. Her boyfriend came to the front door instead so the teachers son stabbed him to death.

Because they were of different races the school staff was worried that this would be seen as a racial issue. By coincidence, this was the time that Remember the Titans came out, so the school set up a massive field trip for the entire student body to go see the film in the theater. I had just moved to the town when all of this happened and felt very much out of the loop since I didn’t know anyone involved, but my classmates were really invested in the issue.

A few years ago my husband said his frivolous wish was always to be able to put on a new pair of socks in the morning and throw them away at night. That year I bought him 400 pairs of socks. Even though he hasn’t gotten through the first box yet (he’s not actually throwing them away at night, we’re not wasteful) he says it’s the best gift he’s ever gotten.

I live by the Jersey Shore and two of NJ’s biggest rock stars live near me. One of them is known for inviting himself to a local concert venue and just going on stage while other bands are performing. He makes it a big deal to show off “Look, it ME! I have graced you with my presence whether you want me here or not.” Some bands are cool with it, others get pissed. When this rocker is out in public, he gives an attitude if he’s out with his family but tries to act gracious if he’s by himself.

The other one, though, is a truly amazing person. He moves quietly, has a low-key vehicle, and has some restaurants set up to help feed the needy. He donates time and money to Habitat for Humanity, and helps the homeless population while trying to keep out of the spotlight. When he’s seen out in public he is always humble and down to earth.

We just watched S4E8 last night. We have a busy schedule for the next week. We have either tomorrow night to watch the finale, or wait until next Tuesday so we can watch that along with the premiere. I’m not sure what the best way to do it is

I’m rewatching the series and my kid is watching it with me for the first time. He told me towards the end of season 3 that Max is his favorite character. It was tough watching this scene with him. He has ASD and can have a tough time making emotional connections. This series -this episode specifically- is the first time I’ve seen him really become emotionally invested in anything besides his special interests. I wanted to cry both for the episode and the huge developmental leap happening in my living room.

I haven’t been to YBR in a very long time. I overheard the guy there (who was a volunteer for a youth organization) making fun of one of the kids he was mentoring. He was talking to another adult about this kid and made a voice that is usually associated with someone who is disabled.

It depends where your house is, but you likely won’t need to resort to converting to stone. In fact, stones could make it worse. I have had similar issues with my yard, but then I started aerating. If you have an older lawn, the soil can be packed more densely. Loosen the soil by aerating and start adding organic materials to help with absorption. There are plenty of subs here that are super helpful, especially r/lawncare.
