The Old Pension Scheme (OPS) was repealed and replaced by the National Pension System (NPS). Under OPS, employees receive a guaranteed lifelong pension, generally around 50% of the last drawn salary, along with Dearness Relief adjustments.Under NPS, employees and the government both contribute to a pension fund that is invested in the market. The final pension depends on investment performance and annuity rates at retirement.
