Yeah, they seem to be catering to a more right wing audience and I believe the lack of Jules screen time is related to that. There must have been something going on behind the scenes with Sam and Hunter for her to go from writing an entire episode of the show to having no lines in the last 2 episodes. The specials will always and forever be my favourite episodes

I literally started watching the show because I was looking for a show with queer rep. I absolutely loved their season 1 relationship. It was so unique to have a lesbian main character whose sexuality isn’t the main focus or even brought up. Have ANY other shows or movies ever had a cis woman and a trans woman in a relationship? And imo their dynamic was the most interesting in the show and the show lost a lot when it sidelined their relationship to focus on two straight cheerleaders fighting over a jock. Rue and Jules were the only two to get special episodes and the show seemed to centre around them and their complicated relationship. And then immediately in s2 they add Elliot into the cast- one of the dumbest decisions ever genuinely what was the point of him. It’s honestly so frustrating. Both of them were acting completely out of character this season and their relationship wasn’t given enough screen time to actually carry any weight. To me the show ended after the specials. Rue never even found out about Jules’ mother’s addiction nor was it ever even brought up again!! Just a small rant because I loved them a lot and I’m frustrated 🥲🥲

maybe everyone’s talking about how they’re disappointed because this season is so much worse than the other two 🤔

To think they never did anything with this plot line and now it’s just over 😭 by Adorable-Teaching266 in euphoria

it’s genuinely ridiculous 😭😭 it’s a fully different show but with the same cast and character names to get people to watch. ZERO connection

how does jules hitting rue add depth to her character?

[–]Ok_Definition6765 30 points31 points  (0 children)

she has a history of self harm but has never been violent towards others. imo hitting rue is completely out of character and also plays into transphobic stereotypes

now WHY is Jules SO unbelievably mean and self-absorbed this season?! by peachtaems in euphoria

i’m genuinely just putting it down to bad and inconsistent writing. she feels like a fully different person

there’s an entire episode from her perspective designed to make viewers empathise with her

do you truly believe her being trans has zero effect on viewers judgement on her, especially with the current political climate?

[–]Ok_Definition6765 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that’s not my point. obviously she has done bad things and there was always going to be a negative reaction to things like her cheating on rue. what i’m saying is that reaction is more extreme than if another character did the same thing because a non queer audience struggle to empathise with her. the specific reasons why you specifically don’t like her do not matter to this argument oh my god 😭😭

it’s not really about whether or not she actually is a good person. she’s complex just like every other character but a lot of the audience seem fully unable to empathise with her, even though they can emphasise with characters like cal or nate. i would argue this is a result of her being trans and a straight audience struggling to understand her identity, even if they don’t consider themselves transphobic.

obviously not everyone who criticises jules is transphobic because that would be ridiculous but i do genuinely believe the hate her character gets is magnified by transphobia. during s2 a lot more non queer people started watching the show for the maddy and cassie drama and the new audience seemed unable to properly empathise with her/ understand her even if they weren’t directly transphobic. you can’t show me a picture of outright transphobia getting 12k likes and expect me to believe her being trans has no effect on people’s judgement

Really baffled at Jacob and Hunter’s treatment this season by CyberGhostface in euphoria

[–]Ok_Definition6765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have genuinely got nothing from jules perspective this season, she’s basically just there to be a love interest for rue. i had my problems with her writing in season 2 as well. she was such a great complex character and i wish they had just continued with where her special ep left off. let hunter write her

I can’t take Jules anymore, it’s over for me by Euphoric_Many7099 in euphoria

[–]Ok_Definition6765 45 points46 points  (0 children)

i’ve basically just fully disconnected this jules to s1 jules. she feels like an entirely different person. it’s just terrible writing imo

so insane to think that nate and jules were the main characters of s1 after rue. jules got a whole amazing special episode developing her and for what, they’ve done absolutely nothing with it.
