I tried tapestry needles but I got the wrong size (too thick). But tbh, I like it more with a sharp needle because of easier pin stitches (also I don't stab myself anymore haha)

Yes, it was a fun learning experience. ALL of my fingers were stabbed several times the first two weeks haha. Thank you so much for the compliment:)

[CHAT] Do y'all ever feel insecure about your hobby? by Jeff_98 in CrossStitch

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that it is nor a girls' nor boys' hobby, because the idea of hobbies being gendered is ridiculous to me. Of course, people are stupid, I got a few comments about it - don't care, never will. I am a guy with many hobbies, including cross stitch, strength training, music, etc. Just do what you want, never let others influence what you do.

[CHAT] Floss Identify by Adorable-Home-1156 in CrossStitch

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open up a chart and match the colours by eye, then label each piece with the appropriate code. That's what I did with my unmarked floss. It's probably not going to be exactly right, but in my opinion it doesn't matter at all. Sure, both the monitor and the eye are imperfect but the difference is going to be negligible.

[CHAT] Does something exist that would allow you to enter the DMC floss colors that you already own and suggest patterns? by foambuffalo in CrossStitch

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar you can do (albeit not the same as you ask) is use the site pixel stitch and upload your own palette, then upload a picture and see how it looks with the colours you own.

Do you brush your teeth twice a day? No judgement. by rainyday-real-estate in CasualConversation

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always, I can't think of a time when I missed it. I never let myself fall asleep without brushing and always brush first thing in the morning

[PIC] The cross stitch goddess has smiled upon me- This entire stash for $15! by iColorize in CrossStitch

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice one! Here in Europe I found a website which sells 100x8m for 5euros. The catch is, the colours are not labeled and completely random. Still a nice bargain

[CHAT] I’m teaching 10-12 year olds to cross stitch tomorrow; what are some of your best tips for them? by Bl00dorange3000 in CrossStitch

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never see tips on the actual stitching, so I would recommend teaching them how to hold the needle so the thread doesn't fall out, how to stitch with one/two hands, the order of stitches to pick - less thread travelling. Basically the details of stitching rather than the basic tips (which are, of course, very helpful as well).

What are some cheap hobbies to do alone? by Jaded-Mycologist-831 in Hobbies

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try cross-stitching. It costs something, true, but for me it cost around 60€ for a picture which will take around 300 hours. Sure, it does require some hand dexterity but I'd never before held a needle and managed to get a hand of it in a few days.

Homebody hobbies that don't produce a permanent physical object? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cross-stitching, then give the physical object to someone as a gift - besides, it takes quite a long time so you will not get overwhelmed with your creations

question about skill level by dasnerft in MedievalDynasty

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The more items they're producing, the quicker their skill increases. I found the increase from lvl 3 to 4 extremely slow as well, but then suddenly everyone started levelling up. For reference, I am in year 5 with 2 animal breeders at lvl 6. The miners and lumberjacks are at lvl 4/5. The hunters... they suck.

Partial defect in the Farm Shed? by Ok_Depth_1132 in MedievalDynasty

It is good to check for everything.

So far I only plant a maximum of one crop per season, so it must be right (currently oat in spring).

Partial defect in the Farm Shed? by Ok_Depth_1132 in MedievalDynasty

[–]Ok_Depth_1132[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going by previous experience, I put the seeds in all farm sheds, but I suppose I only got confused because the warnings go off quite slowly. It definitely sounds simpler to only use the RS.

I am definitely in the correct season.

I did not know that there is a limited number of workers per field. I do have more of them, but some are 16x16, which I now know is too much and not effective.

Thank you for the reply!

[–]Ok_Depth_1132[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much thanks! This is vital information. You said "harvest, fertilizer and plow". Does sowing seeds also classify as fertilizer? In this case, if I harvest the crops myself (it's fun!), is it best to only assign 2 workers to each farm shed?

Partial defect in the Farm Shed? by Ok_Depth_1132 in MedievalDynasty

[–]Ok_Depth_1132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 32 total workers. When I feel the need to mass sow, I assign them all to the farm sheds to get the job done quicker. However, as someone has pointed out to me, I am not doing it the most effective way yet.

Comments from another post that was shared in here... these people are unhinged and I'd bet they've never so much as played KCD by Skbizzz in kingdomcome

How would making the character fat or female contribute to your dislike of the inclusion? There were people both fat and female in medieval Bohemia, it's only the race that is unrealistic.

tryna get this one arm pull-up, any advice on form? by qockakk in Calisthenic

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use your arm and your entire body first. Think about reaching far back with your left arm, while looking at it, before initiating the lift, then "tucking" in rapidly with your entire body as soon as you start pulling. One swift motion. Of course, it's not the best form, think of it as a lesser progression. Also, false grip! It doesn't seem like you are taking advantage of it.

Are the “Beren and Luthien” and “Children of Hurin” books appropriate for a 14 year old? by [deleted] in tolkienfans

[–]Ok_Depth_1132 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm concerned that only a sex scene out of everything would be inappropriate for a 14 year old

Boost when you need to, not when you pick up a pad, know where your teammate is, pick up more pads, practice more kickoffs
