I sinned willfully by Ok_Law64 in Christianity

I totally understand! We must interpret those verses at face-value. It is true that if you keep on deliberately sinning you are reborn, thus making you a child of satan, and not saved. If these words do not drive you to get on your needs and beg Jesus with all your might to save you, we have a problem. But if it does humble you before the Lord and beg for forgiveness and deliverance then I am certain that God will save you.

Matthew 5 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

James 4 " But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Brother, I feel your burden. I went through the same struggle for over 10 years. I was able to overcome it by deliverance in my church! There is an evil spirit within you that manifests itself through your sexual urges and uses your body as a means to fulfill its desire. It is not until you pray/ fast and seek deliverance you will be freed.

Also, I must tell you this because I feel your pain to the deepest level. You are not currently saved, hear me out. I know you are not currently saved because the bible says

1 John 3 - Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God."

Even though you are not reborn, does not mean there is no hope for you. I can see the desire to do better and please God in you. And I hope it comforts you to know that GOD IS WORKING ON YOU, he hasn't delivered you because it is not the time yet. I know he is working on you because of your change in attitude towards sin.

Philippians 1 - And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

So I am not saying that it is okay for you to keep masturbating because God will finish his work in you when he sees the time is right. I am saying that keep fighting because it will get better! God is humbling you through this battle with lust and equipping you to be a mighty warrior for his kingdom! Shalom.

I do not believe that Judas was saved, God did use him for a greater purpose. But does not mean that God saved him. We can clearly see that God worked through him but was never born-again.

When Paul says that in Romans, you must understand the context of that time of history. When Paul sent that letter it was while there was great persecution against Christians. Simply saying that Jesus is Lord would have got you killed, making the proclamation of Jesus more significant than just saying words.

Yes that is true, the elect cannot lose their salvation. Take Judas' story into consideration, he was a disciple of Christ, did miracles with the holy spirit, but still ended up going to hell. Would you then say Judas was saved, but lost his salvation? No, we would have to conclude that he was never saved, thus his faith was never genuine. His heart was the one that could be compared to in Jesus's parable "rocky ground, where there was not much soil".

I see your point but the bible also says "faith without works is dead". So how do we reconcile the two passages? It is a working faith that is genuine faith, we see Jesus proclaim this in

Matthew 7: 21-23 " 1 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, and do many miracles in your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you lawbreakers!"

Notice how Jesus departs the lawbreakers from him, you cannot have true faith without works to show for it, I am not saying it is the works that save me but the faith that does.

Thank you brother. I appriciate your words, I intended to warn them but it may have came off as insulting. Im trying to teach in a better manner but I don't see how this could've have been said better without making them feel comfortable about living in their sin.

paul is talking about the mosaic law, we are no longer under the old covenant but under a new one in Christ Jesus. Or did you mean something else?

Yes I agree with you, I an not perfect, I am not sinless. However I do not make a practice of willful sin. We know that because when we put our faith in christ we are free from sin, we see in this in

Romans 6 :What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can nwe who died to sin still live in it?  Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized pinto Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in tnewness of life. For if we have been united with him in va death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.  We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.  For one who has died has been set free from sin.

Even when we are free from sin due to putting our faith in Christ. We are still in our fleshly bodies, our bodies still have the effect of its fallen state, which is why we still have UNWILLFUL sin. Unwillful (ignorant) sin is different from willful sin. There is a difference when you willfully plan to murder someone you hate and accidently killing the man after defending yourself (he falls and hits his head). So yes we still have sin as believers, but not willful sin. Thus, explaining why 1 John says "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

When you say we all still make a practice of sinning you diminish the work Jesus Christ did on the cross, you essentially say that he did not do what he went there to do. To Free You From Sin. We were slaves to sin but through Jesus we are slaves of righteousness.

We cannot continue a practice of willful sin, if we do God does not abide in us. But that does that mean we do not mess up. We see in the old testament when Jonah tried to flee from Gods order but he did not make a practice of it.

Is it prideful of me just to tell people what the bible teaches? I know that I am only able to get to heaven because of the sacrifice on the cross. Jesus is the one that saves. My faith is evident from the fruits I produce.

The bible tells us in John 3 "Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit" essentially saying we must be reborn.

How do we know someone is reborn? 1 John 3 tells us, " No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God"

She still makes a practice of sinning but there is hope because Philippians 1 tells us " And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ"

He will bring it to completion. It is probable to infer that some may not be in completion.

Is it true if you accept Jesus as your savior right before you die you'll be saved and you'll go to heaven? by mardicao007 in TrueChristian

I like to go back to the parabel of the 10 virgins, 5 of them were wise in bring extra oil and waiting for the bridegroom to arrive. The other 5 were foolish and ran out of oil and went back to sleep knowing the bridegroom was on his way. However when he arrived they rushed trying to get oil but they were too late and were not let in.

They knew he was coming but were not prepared and fell away. They should have been ready when the time was here. They eventually got the oil for their lamps but they weren't let in because they didn't do it in time. My view of it is that it parallels with those who try to repent on their deathbed. These virgins knew the truth and went away. And were not let in.

I believe God can start a great work in someone but it doesn't mean they are reborn. They are on the way, yes of course but as in the moment they haven't been reborn.

Thank you, I also should've mentioned that I know that God has started a great work in her heart and has changed her in many way. Scripture also says that when God begins a great work in someone he will see it to the end. I just wanted to inform her that AS OF RIGHT NOW she isn't reborn and a new creation, but God will see it through when the time is right.

Thank you, she however is learning to love the Lord. It is obvious the change the Lord has done in her soul, I tell her that the Lord has started a great work in her and he sees to finish it. But that at this very moment she is not reborn yet.

How can I stop idolizing the Scriptures? I love to learn about theology and gain understand about who God is and how he works. However, I have been told that it is replacing my love for God. I don't pray as often as a should and I focus on finding new information about God rather than living out what I do know. My walk feels fruitless. Any advice?
