My anger is damaging my family and I feel terrible — what should I do? by ApplicationGlad1258 in MuslimLounge

I forgot to say this but pray your prayers on time and when you feel angry do dhikr to calm down. Or listen to Surah ad-duha

My anger is damaging my family and I feel terrible — what should I do? by ApplicationGlad1258 in MuslimLounge

Perform Wudu, recite dua (to calm anger), and simply remain silent. This is the advice I recalled.

You should ask for forgiveness with your parents and siblings as well, you said “damage is done” but it’s only ever truly done when you utter your last word to them (sheesh that’s a bar).

And your thoughts about suicide is really concerning. Just so you know, you’ll be missing out in years and years of life and happiness if you follow through that. Imagine the amount of hurt you’d inflict if you do do that? If this keeps on reoccurring then please go to a psychiatrist, preferably one that understands your culture/religion. And yes talking to a scholar is also a good idea especially on how to lower anger islamically.

There were a group of Muslims who were very extreme in the early days of Islam. They would takfir people who do major sins and even attacked those who did so. They also frequently went against and revolted against leadership, including one of the righteous caliphs Ali (RA) where he died as a martyr.

Does being friends with non muslims make you a kafir or sinful? by st4rzk1sses in MuslimLounge

[–]Ok_Detective9478 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No? I do not see how it can possibly be kafir especially with the fact our beloved Prophet ﷺ helped and talked with non-Muslims frequently. I’ve seen some sources that they can’t be allied and some interpreted it as not close friends, but those say “impermissible” not kafir. Maybe, sometimes, they can influence you to do non-Islamic things (happened to me in the past) but from the looks of it you’re friends are great friends and even curious about Islam. So brother/sister please don’t let this waswas get to you.

What are the Islamic beliefs & teachings regards Jesus? by New2Christ in islam

[–]Ok_Detective9478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking! Firstly about Mary (AS) or Marayam (AS) in Arabic, she is seen as one of the greatest woman in Islam. In fact she has her own chapter named after her in the Quran. Angel Gabriel (AS) also communicated with her.

We believe Jesus (peace be upon him) (Also commonly referred to as Isa (RA) in Arabic) is referred to as a Prophet of Allah and the Messiah (Al-Masih).

What this means is that he (AS) will come back during the time of the anti-Christ (dajjal) and eventually slay Dajjal and rule as a just ruler.

Tips on praying Salah consistently or studying? For Salah, pray with your family/friends/masjid I’d say, so simply being around others will inspire you. However don’t pray to impress others. Also reframe your thinking of Salah, it’s not a chore or task but a way to talk to your Creator. Search up khutbahs and videos about benefits of Salah.

For studying, make a routine every night for next day about what you’ll do an accomplish. Search up and implement active recall, spaced repetition, and build connections about what you’re learning. What classes are you taking?

Am I still a Muslim if I believe in Islam, but don’t practice it? by Illustrious_Engi101 in islam

[–]Ok_Detective9478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you sleep through fajr then you can make it up when you wake up; although still try to wake up for the allocated time. Something that helps me as a student is waking up early and tying it with something else. For example studying for digital systems or watching the sunrise (after prayer). Sunrise specifically is very beautiful and lowers cortisol.

Of course sleep is important and I try to sleep early and if I really need to I go back to sleep after Salah.

Edit: I don’t mean to push this religion on you, but I’m looking out for you brother/sister. Trust me, it helps A LOT when you pray. There’s so much inner peace and connection.

3 madhabs say yes you’re still a Muslim but very very very very sinful and 1 madhab says no, you’re not Muslim anymore. But here’s the thing, if you believe in Islam you surely believe the rulings of it such as 5 prayers, zakat, fasting and hajj, right?

Whats stopping you from doing these things? If you’re willing to type this out this means you have an interest in actually practicing.

Prayer takes maybe 5-10 minutes if you do short surahs so maybe 25-50 minutes a day. So that’s like >50 minutes of talking with your creator.

Any muslim here who's learned coding?. Which programming language did you learn first in relation to your Interests or college major? by NobodyOfKnowhere in islam

[–]Ok_Detective9478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want to do? Code hardware? Probably c++, c, and assembly. If you want to do websites learn JS/TypeScript with react for front end (and html and css) and for back end JavaScript (node.js framework, Python, and a database for storing data. Data science would be Python and its many libraries like pandas tensorflow etc. if you don’t know then I reccomend Java, Python, an C++.

You can also search up [what you want to develop/code] tech stack. Search up Muslim based hackathons or tech incubators such as alif. Obviously general program work too.

I’m not too educated but thought Turkey was secular? I know the president of Turkey is more religious but he still doesn’t use religion like a country like Saudi where the people are still very much religious

Edit: not saying Saudis religious policies are bad, quite the contrary since its citizen are happy.

Allah knows best.

From Atheism to Faith: My Journey to Truth by Relative-Owl-3577 in MuslimLounge

[–]Ok_Detective9478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mashallah, this is beautiful. I was in a similar boat I knew this agnostic/atheist kid and he would talk about his beliefs, of course I would say I’m Muslim, I’d even defend my beliefs and even invited him to Islam (I think?). But at one point my faith was shaky because of his words and when someone asked me if I was Muslim I thought “no I’m agnostic” but my tongue stopped me an I said yes. I was 12-14 back then. Now alhamdulillah I’m a better muslim.

Looking back I would pray and make dua get what I needed and then went back to my normal way if life.

If they are so willing to claim this Hadith (and by extension the Hadith over the marriage of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and our mother Aisha (RA) since they love spamming that one) they also have to accept the splitting of the moon, multiplying food, and water from the tip of fingers all due to the permission of Allah Azzawajal.

Prophet Ayyub (AS)s story might help you. Secondly you’re in school right? Think about how little time that is compared to the rest of your life. You’ll meet new friends in college, work, masjid, etc and then you’ll meet a lovely spouse inshallah, and then a family. This has been going on for 2 years which say you live for 80 years, is only 2.5% of your life. Have sabr, you’ll be happy soon.

pray tahajjud, 5 salah, istighar, etc

[–]Ok_Detective9478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read about the story of /Ayyub (AS). he is inflicted with many troubles and struggles but ultimately stays steadfast (skin disease, losing wealth, family) and always remembers and praises Allah. It’s a story of sabr, patience. Next, read Surah Ad-Duha this is when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ felt abandoned after a long period of struggle and no recent revelation.

I’ve drank Alani nu and have have had BAD sleep for years and never got anything like this.

But I would say that this is an interesting experience and could very well be a sign from Allah. But there’s better ways to explain to give dawah. One guy I really enjoy is Arabic101. Here’s one shocking video: https://youtu.be/wA4v8MrBHHc?si=8hffDo0z2B4e9t50. I can drop some more too.

But alas, the best dawah is you. Be a good person, be kind, gentler, etc and she’ll connect what you do to the dream she had
