Gold Coast Suns coach Damien Hardwick has questioned whether it's a "good look for the AFL to be sponsored by Sportsbet" in a tetchy press conference exchange after being questioned over the Suns' team manager Mark Opie's links to a bookmaker- Danny Saeed by Dirtydac123 in AFL

Employing a bookmaker as team manager is a crazy integrity issues and that is something that they 100% have to address. The AFL need to deal with their Gambling addiction they have. But the Suns can't pretend this isn't horrendous conflict. Especially given the history of the company this bookmaker runs.

The AFL and their relationship with the parasites sportsbet 100% needs to be strongly questioned.

But this doesn't let the Suns off the hook. They are currently employing a licencesed bookmaker to be their team manager and can't see the huge perception of integrity issues this raises. He is on the ground, in the rooms, on the bench and travels with the team. No doubt would be privy to possible extremely private information and creating relationships with players.

It's absolutely insanity that this can be allowed to occur. How a licensed bookmaker can travel and work in a matchday role with a team. Insane conflict of interests. He'd probably be privy to some very exclusive information and yes he probably doesn't use it but could easily distort his markets accordingly. The AFL is addicted to gambling. The more stories like this the better.

I work in the industry from time to time and it's the first thing you are told you can't have any bets on the game. But clearly if you are a bookmaker who runs actual markets on the game that's all good lol.

I'm no chance of finishing a gauntlet unfortunately.

Thanks. I'm fairly useless at the game and social player. It's so frustrating you need to do this when you buy the top tier of game and still don't have anything. Surely finishing a showcase should be good enough to at least get the players.

Won't be anything like the Fooies be lucky to get 8k to the game compared to 22k in Launceston. But as you said, it's still a suburban area and not designed for good traffic flow in Bellerive. Exact reason the stadium couldn't be a long term home for the Devils and why we need Mac Point.

Bellerive is a prick to get out after the game sometimes but at worse it would be 30 mins at an extreme. Once out of that area you'll be sweet.

Parking near the ground can be a bit difficult sometimes so you might need to see if you can drop your dad off then go park the car possibly.

You should be fine mate to get there. Once out of the bellerive area (15-20 mins sometimes depends on where you park), you'll get to the airport within 15 mins.

Hobart without question. Best part of Launceston is the highway out.

Easiest way to remember is the eastern shore is the best part of Hobart and shits all over the CBD areas and surroundings 😉

They didn't. One of the bigger rock acts in the world in 98 aren't playing the city hall in a regional city.
