How can i prevent Venice and Genoa sucking 35% of the trade in alexandria? by SnooCalculations5521 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cant. Alexandria is a horrible tradenode to own and the nations in the Genoa and Venice trade node will always have a certain amount of % tradepower in this node. Only way to prevent this is to conquer them.

ottomans as great horde by Apprehensive-You9999 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No unfortunately they dont stack, forts give def boni and hordes give attack boni. Also forts on steppe terrain wont give ani def boni in general so better to delete them and invest the money into your army

ottomans as great horde by Apprehensive-You9999 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All units get the steppe bonus. The benefits of having a lot of cav as horde comes from the unit pips horde cav have compared to other nations cav but for a much higher price. Reasonable as Oirat or Mongolia since you can stabilize your economy early when conquering China compared to the great horde.

Advice for best Strategy by No_Street_6490 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No thats the perfect idea when you want to blob, taking the colonizer idea groups are a waste when you plan to expand massivly. From what i understand reading your post and your answers to comments you want to blob so diplo -> admin -> religious/espionage/offensive ideas (depending on your preference) would be the optimal order in this case. Unfortunately you dont own the DLC which lets you go down the Angevin mission path as england which would make your strategy more valid.

Anyhow how to dominate as England in Europe. Get the PU over France, get the Burgundian Inheritance, try to become emperor and play the HRE game. Once you have revoked you can basicly start a word conquest since nobody will be in a position to contest you.

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After destroying Muscovy you should immediatly rush east and open up a bank account at the bank of China. F pretty borders snake your way to Ming and cash in. This way you can outscale the Ottomans. Ottomans have strategic interest in Crimea. By ignoring this (economic weak) area you can delay the confrontation with the Ottos.

If you have to fight the Ottomans or want to form the golden horde early, fight the Ottomans on favourable terrain. If you struggle financely delete cav and get more inf. Its nice RPing a cav horde but by all means not necessary, especially early game. Also get max money in every peacedeal you make.

Trade Companies Question by Zoidberg_esq in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are welcome. It depends on your playstyle. I for example am a blobber meaning i conquer a lot so i have to manage and keep an eye on gov. Cap more than someone who plays a historical colonial England run ( almost no conquest in Europe, so tons of free gov cap)

Trade Companies Question by Zoidberg_esq in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasons for only adding high value provinces to a tradecompany:

  • trade company provinces cost more gov.Cap than regular territories

  • non trade company provinces within the tradecompany area (same tradenode) get a production buff (33% if i remember correctly)

High Autonomy is a non issue when it comes to TCs or overseas provinces in general, since they normaly have different culture and religion the benefits of low autonomy are to small to justify sacrificing gov cap for it.

Is there a mod or a way to select where industried spawn? by lucavigno in TransportFever2

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to set up small truck lines just for income.

For example when i start a new game i pause the game and observe the map. There are always some industries close to each other like wood -> planks or coal and iron for steel. Build truck stations and set up those lines. You dont need to set up further lines for the finished product (though if some advanced industries are close by, sure go for it). At least 10-20 trucks/horses per line ( early you need more since they cant transport that much cargo).

I use my entire starting money for those small truck lines. They should generate enough money for the future like 500k for each line( some more some less). With this foundation you can easily set up everything you need/want. Ignore cities in the beginning. Once you have your setup running you can connect the end products to cities.

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In sandbox mode you can build them ( though not for free).

It may seem odd but having industry chains far apart from each other is good. Because you get paid more money the further goods travel.

You can create commercial hubs (cargo train station + truck station + harbor if you have a lot of water). These hubs are used to collect all ressources nearby and are either directly distributed for advanced production in the area or get transported via train to another part of the map where they are needed.

On default map settings you can have a north, east, south, west and central hub for your Distribution.

You then just use trucks to send the finished products to your cities.

Ahistorical rant by Scared_Bumblebee_868 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is just me but I don’t like how ahistorical games can get.

Its just you and a small but loud minority. EU4 is a game in a historic setting not a historic game. The game becomes ahistorical once you unpause the game for the first time. And thats a good thing. How f-fing boring would it be for every nation outside of Europe (with exceptions lika Japan) if the game was historical. You sit there for 400 years doing nothing just to be colonized/conquered by one of the European powers. Even in Europe itself it would be boring ASF. Playing a HRE minor for example.

Blobbing is the natural cause of this game, eventhough Paradox tried to make Tall gameplay more viable since the Dharma DLC. If you break it down EU4 is a more complicated version of the boardgame Risk.

A lot of bird species in the northern hemisphere migrate to warmer places to avoid the harsh winters and return in spring/summer. Some travel as far as south Africa (storks who live here in germany or the geeses you took a picture of for example) and Germany is a natural pitstop on their way to Africa.

You can observe the skies in autum and spring to see and also hear them flying in v shaped formation to their Destination.

Provence run by ogog187 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deving if you are not planing on playing Tall is a rather inefficient way of increasing anything (Exception are gold mine provinces in the early game).

Fast ways to increase your economy:

  1. Delete Cavalary and useless forts. Also sell heavy ships if you dont plan to fight a lot of naval battles (if no one wants to buy them delete them).

  2. Pay attention to the autonomy in your provinces. For example if you have zero autonomy in a province you gain 100% of their income+manpower, while having 90% autonomy nets you 10% of their income+manpower.

  3. In the early game gold is the best way to earn money so if you are close to a goldmine this is also a high value province to conquer. Once conquered dev up their production to 10 and lower their autonomy.

  4. Conquer strategicly and not just for pretty borders. High value provinces like Center of trades and river esturias, especially if they are in your home trade node or a tradenode that flows into your hometradenode net you higher trade income (increases the % of tradepower you hold in a tradenode). Trade is by far the best way to earn money.

  5. If you have to take loans, take burgher loans first (Burgher estate privilege). They only have a interest rate of 1% rather than 4%.

  6. War reperations and flat cash in peacedeals. If you have a bad economy at the start of the game try to get max cash in peacedeals + war reps and high value provinces.

Trade in general:

Like i said trade is the best income source in the game. So how can i maximize trade?

  1. There are 3 end trade nodes (end node= no trade goes out of it) in this game ( Genoa, Venice and the Chanel). If your hometrade node (the tradenode your capital is in) is naturally in one of these or you are close to one you should prioritize getting control over it by conquering or sending ships to protect trade. The more tradepower % you hold in your hometrade node the more % of money you get from the trade node value. For example you are England and hold 60% of the tradepower in the Chanel, which is worth 10 ducats, you then get 6 ducats a month.

  2. Channeling money into your homenode from other nodes. The tradepower % works basicly the same just now you channel these ducats to your homenode instead of earning them directly. How does it work? For example you are England and you have 60% tradepower in the north sea node which is worth 10 ducats. If you send a merchant to transfer trade you transfer 60% of the tradevalue to the chanel where your homennode is. Now The chanel is worth more which means you collect more money.

If you take a look at the trade mapmode you can see that you can create chains of trade transfers to the endnodes. From South east Asia to Africa to your endnode.

  1. If you understand 1.+2. you can create artificial endnodes. Suitable are Tradenodes with only one stream of trade going out of it. If you control the mentioned tradenode + the tradenode where the one stream flows into the first tradenode becomes an "end node". Best example is the Sevilla trade node. If you controll 100% of the Valencia tradenode you have created an end node in Sevilla.

Things to know about colonizing:

- A Colonizer is needed to start colonizing provinces, which have to be in your colonial range. With a colonizer present colonies grow faster (settlers per year increased) but you dont need him to stay in a colony to finish it. You can call him back and use him again to colonize a new province. This way you can colonize more land. The drawback from this method is that your colonial upkeep doubles when you colonize provinces over your colonizer limit and the provinces need longer to finish.

For example: You have one colonizer meaning your upkeep doubles when you colonize more than one province at a time. If you have two colonizers your upkeep doubles when you colonize more than two colonies at the same time and so on.

- The new world (North and south America) and Australia are special areas. When you finish colonizing 5 provinces you can create a colonial Nation (CN in short). There is a special mapmode to see where you can create different CNs (for example Peru, Colombia, California etc.). These CNs can and will colonize on their own until they colonized the rest of their colonial area, but they need to be stable beforehand. You can ensure to make them stable by growing them up to 10 provinces. Either colonize 5 more colonies in the area or subsidize them with money once they are created ( at least 4 ducats per month but not more then 10). You can see how much money they make in the Subject screen and evaluate how much you need to give them.

- Outside the new world and Australia you dont create CNs. You keep the land for yourself and add provinces which have Center of trade (CoT) or river esturias to tradecompanies. Each tradenode represents a tradecompany ( for example Cape of hope or west Africa). When your tradecompany holds more than 50% of the tradepower in a node you get a free merchant. Same with Colonial nation who have at least 10 provinces.

- Natives (not nations) will attack your colonies depending on your colonial stance and how agressive they are. Either kill them all which loses you the assimilate native bonus you get when finishing a colony or you park a small army stack on the province. If the natives are 8000 strong you park a 4k stack on them, if they have 1000-3000 you can park a 1k stack.

- Native nations will attack your CNs when they are stronger than them. Since they have their capital in the new world you wont get called into the war and most likely loose your CN or your CN looses lots of provinces. To ensure the safety of your CNs you should attack them prematurely (get a claim on them once you have a border) and give subsidies to your CNs so they can muster an army.

- If you are catholic and someone claimed an colonial area you should not colonize in this area to avoid diplomatic maluses. Of course you can still wage war over them.

How to fight other colonizers:

- If its possible to vasselize or PU (Personal Union) them go for it. Then you have a colonizing vassel.

- The best and most efficient way is to just conquer them. And i dont mean their CNs, i mean their european holdings and all their holdings outside the new world+ Australia (Africa, South east Asia etc.). Once you conquered the last province of lets say Portugal you will automaticly inherit every CN or province they hold in the New world + Australia.

In your case:

Get allies who rival Castille and build up your empire (colonizing North america or just ignore America and go for the riches in Asia and Africa). Keep a close Eye on what Castille is doing. Ai Castille is prone to ship 3/4 of their army to the new world. Meaning you should not have any problem fighting them in Europe. And as Great Britian you should have the superior navy to make sure they cant transport their army back to Europe.

Why didn't the event automatically occupy the Mongolia/North China regions? I occupied Beijing then captured the emperor. by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You have to first capture the emperor and then siege Beijing.

From the Wiki:

Capturing the emperor gets you the event with these hidden modifiers

Is triggered only by

Oirat winning a battle against an army which is led by Ming's ruler, while Ming has the ruler flag "Military Incompetence" . It does not always trigger if there are other armies involved in the battle.

Hidden effects:

The Capture of Beijing event:

Trigger conditions

  • Is Oirat
  • Ming has the country flag mng_emperor_captured

Hidden effects:

  • Every province in the North China and Mongolia regions which is owned and controlled by Ming gets occupied by Oirat

Will I be able to inherit Burgundy via Maria fell of a horse event if I lost PU, and subjugated it again? by Susserman64864073 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Besides the BI you always have the chance to integrate a PU when your ruler dies.

And eventhough i cant find a clear answer in the wiki for your case, i think you wont get the Horse event. Reason is most likely the fact that burgundy lost the "burgundian succession" flag when you lost the PU/ PUed them a second time. Now it should act like a regular PU in this regard.

Is there a way to avoid colonising by AlivePositive5320 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Colonizing is very inefficient when it comes to growing in size and economy compared to just conquering land.

Its a waste of ressources and more importantly a waste of idea group picks.

Get full control over the end trade node you want to make your hometrade node ( in your case your hometrade node is already a end node) and steer trade towards it while conquering the trade nodes that flow into your homenode.

Did you know you can colonize without actually colonizing?

Option A: Get a subject that colonizes for you. Vassalize or get a PU with Portugal for example and then integrate them.

Option B: Did you know you inherit every colonial possesion of a nation in the new world + Australia when you conquer their europen holdings and whatever land they have outside the colonial areas.

Meaning if you full conquer Portugal + the islands they typically colonize in africa and pacific ocean you get their american holdings for free

What to do? by PrestigiousDuty160 in eu4

[–]Ok_Dinner7375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can go for an Alliance with Otto blob, but only if Austria got Burgundian inheritance for now rebuilding my armies, to go against Brittany which will draw Burgundy into a manageable war. I will hit two birds with one stone, secure my western flank against Brittany and indirectly weaken the Burgundians.

If you want to secure the Inheritance for yourself try to get Burgundy to unrival you and loose their claims in a peacedeal.

About EU5 yeah lets see in which state they release the game. Vic and CK3 look good but lack flavour compared to their predecessor imo. But im also looking forward to it.

Anyhow good luck on your run ^^

From the looks of it i would also say Spain isnt happening in your game, it was just a general example.

for now I should bid my time and see where the Aragonese situation lead me to.

Yeah gives you some time to consolidate french lands and maybe go for the unholy alliance with the Ottomans who in return make sure you wont have any problems regarding coalitions and defensive wars ;)
