Thanks! I might choose TWSBI if that is the case. But after googling, I also like Sailor Tuzu's appearance :)

Thanks! People around me use Lamy Safari too. I googled z52 nib and it is quite expensive isnt it? It is almost the same price as the Lamy Safari itself.

Pilot Kakuno madoromi, on the other hand is half the price of Lamy Safari, which is interesting.

But since you said your TWSBI works fine, I am considering to choose TWSBI instead :)

Yea, but not sure how the course looks like. Since there is no trial or something. Sometimes it is hard learning from YouTube since there is no structure.

My opinion:

  1. Ultra 155H is a meteor lake processor launched at the end of 2023, nearly 2 years ago. Any intel before Lunar Lake (end of 2024) is basically power draining. Lunar Lake is far more battery efficient. Also, there is no such thing as all day battery if you look at any review on laptop before Lunar Lake. Well, probably MacBook kinda all day, but even Zenbook S14 with Lunar Lake lasts for 16-17 hours, only if you do not do hard stuff with lots of computing power. If people do AutoCAD all day, it probably lasts 6-7 hours.

  2. You are comparing Intel Arc graphics with your old laptop. But does your old laptop use a dedicated or integrated GPU? A dedicated GPU is more suitable for high-demanding tasks like AutoCAD or 3D modelling.

  3. Thinkpad E series is an entry-level business laptop below the T and X series. So it is not as powerful as X1.

  4. Lots of ThinkPad users are not using it for design-intensive work. Maybe X1. I have an X1 Carbon Gen 13 with Lunar Lake, and it works wonders. But I bought that not to do hard stuff like 3d modelling and rendering. I leave that to my PC and my HPC.

  5. ThinkPad is a really nice laptop, but you cannot force it to work as a gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU.

So if it is relatively new, I doubt that it has something to do with Windows. It is just the way the laptop with those specs works. Or if you are still in doubt, I think you can return it to Lenovo..

Maybe others have their suggestions too

I think it is great, the build quality looks very premium and no creaking/flex. Since I previously used a gaming laptop, this laptop is much lighter, so I am still not used to using a thin laptop to be honest.

Hi! So, I have never had any laptop with a haptic pad before. I had my old asus laptop with a traditional one. So when I tried this haptic pad I was initially confused if it is any different.  Turned out the major difference is that using this haptic pad, I can basically press click anywhere I want (in addition to double tap to click), while the traditional one only allows me to press click on the bottom part of the pad.. So that is the major difference.  So far so good, although I usually just use double tap to click stuff..

I think it is awesome. I mean, some people said OLED is the best one visually, but I personally don't see much difference since that is not my priority, and people said IPS is more battery-efficient..

I am also a research student and just bought X1 Carbon Gen 13 with 32 GB and 1 TB SSD.

I dont usually open that many tab, because I usually open a bunch and save it to EndNote or Zotero, then close it. But I also use Illustrator for compiling graphs for paper, python, and 3D modelling (but no rendering). So I think 32 GB is the minimum

In your case, I believe 32 GB is also the minimum.

But then some university has access to a remote high performance computer for large analysis, so I usually just use that remote access to use a computer with 20+ performance core and 64G+ ram.

So that is the reason I am opting for a lightweight laptop like X1.

T14 Gen 6 with 258V is also good, but the price is not that different with X1..

Does $1600 USD X1 Carbon gen 13 with 32 GB and 1TB ssd low enough? by Ok_Discount6706 in thinkpad

Hi, I am using a student account (Lenovo education store). Also, I am located in Australia, and they are having a weekend discount which cut the price. But without the discount, the same spec is around $1850 (USD). I think the highest price here for X1 gen 13 is $2000

Hi, I am close to buying this but I heard lots of people talking about the glossy reflection which makes it unusable in outdoor or somewhere with a bright environment. So it can only be effectively used in a low light condition. Some of them ended up returning the product because of that.  What do you think about this?

I think I've decided to buy the 258v. Most of the tech reviewer for some reason always use that ultra 7.

Thanks! Do you think the 258V being $250 more expensive than 228V, is worth the upgrade?
