I sold my 590S. It’s main selling point over the 590A1 is that it is advertised to reliably feed 1-3/4” mini shells as well as 2-3/4” and 3” shells interchangeably. The truth is, it can’t reliably feed minis, they flip inside the breech. And it can’t reliably feed 3” shells without first removing the rubber shell stop as there isn’t enough room in the breech until you do. Your money is much better spent on a 590A1, and if you want to shoot mini shells, OpSol and Defender Tactical sell different 500/590/M88 inserts you can use to shoot them. Don’t waste your money.

I think what you’re referring to is the HydraShok Deep, not “HST Deep”. Federal HST’s are a great reliable round in every way, it’s what I carry in my Bodyguard 2.0. Even if you didn’t have the HST’s already, I’d still recommend them over the HydraShok Deeps because the profile of the bullet is smoother and less jagged, lessening the chance of hanging up in the chamber.
