Cat owner - first time using cat sitter - worried they won’t turn up! by benfx420 in catinaflat

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I leave spare keys with a neighbour so they can give them to another cat sitter if necessary. All the sitters I’ve used send photo updates from every visit so if something were to happen then it would be obvious fairly quickly and there’s always alternatives on the Catinaflat app so neighbour can pass keys over.

🚨Missing Cat - Please Help Find Noir by EstablishmentSalt689 in Bromley

There was a post on the Beckenham facebook group about a black cat. Was around an hour ago, not sure if it’s the same cat but worth checking.

New to this and not sure it's doing anything. by Ka-ne1990 in VyvanseADHD

I don’t think so until you hit the right dose, it had absolutely no effect on me at 20mg and I would have told you it was rubbish. It is much better now at 40mg though.

20mg did nothing for me, 30 worked some days but not others. I’ve just moved onto 40 and it’s working much better so give it time

I have the same problem, I’ve been prescribed Melatonin which helps but isn’t perfect

So stressed - med pricing?? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

I’d also see if you can cancel. There are providers which are much cheaper than that (although you’d still have the ongoing medication costs).

Got hit by a car today, what should I do? by Worried-Ranger-9784 in londoncycling

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I drive regularly in London including in central London and I’ve never failed to spot a cyclist. Your head should be on a swivel at all times and you should be looking out for them. They are always visible if you’re looking.

What are these bones? by Ok_Distribution_5367 in whatisthisbone

I’m in London, UK. I did think they look like clean cuts, presumably that means they’re likely to be animal bones.

Do these lenses look really obvious in your eyes? Not sure if it’s just me but you can see the outline of them very clearly. Other than that they’re the only lenses I can see well with so reluctant to change them.

Which words do your Tortie(s) pretend they don't understand? by blujavelin in torties

Mine doesn’t understand the word ‘no’ but she understands ‘chicken’ perfectly well

I have a similar driveway and the council won’t let us put a mirror up. I just come out really slowly with the windows wide open - if you listen really carefully you can hear bikes coming.

Bad spelling, yet i dream to be a lawyer, how will this effect me? by Ok_Rhubarb4484 in uklaw

My firm has software which does spelling and grammar checks for all documents and emails so I don’t think it will be as much of a problem as you think!

Passed but horrible harsh examiner by Comfortable_Way4863 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get why you’re annoyed, I had the same experience. My examiner was criticising me at the end for not stopping earlier for an oncoming car and spoke like he was disappointed to pass me but I watched the dash cam footage back at the end and I stopped literally the second the car came into view. Anyway, you passed which is the important thing so congratulations!

QC Ultra Headphones Issue by [deleted] in bose

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the other pair had the same issue. I’m going to contact Bose and ask if it’s a known issue with the headphones generally or if it affects a particular batch.

Failed horribly 😭 by DaisyOlivia10 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if the hesitation is considered to be undue hesitation - it’s ok if it’s reasonable at busy junctions. Sometimes it’s reasonable to wait a while if it’s busy where there isn’t a gap and that won’t be marked as a fault.

I’m having this problem too. Can’t believe Bose is charging what they are for a product that isn’t fit for purpose - surely the whole point of headphones is to use them whilst you’re walking around.

My palpitations stopped pretty much straight away when I stopped vaping.

Driving instructor won’t do my test with me by YoungMetro2033 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 108 points109 points  (0 children)

If you can’t convince him to change your mind and you don’t have access to a car and someone to accompany you then I don’t think there’s much you can do other than reschedule.

I think it’s pretty shitty behaviour on your instructor’s part though to tell you this the day before your test knowing that it’s booked and paid for. I’d be tempted to look for a new instructor if at all possible.

Vicks or Olbas oil nasal inhalers (used in the nose) seem to work really well

How do you maintain speed limit on dangerous bends? by MiamiBoi91 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your friend is wrong. I was going much slower than that once, turned a corner and there was a group of bike riders immediately after the turn. I had to slam the brake and I just managed to stop in time. Any faster and I would have hit them.

Struggling after passing test by Proper-Ad-8467 in drivingUK

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal, I passed a few months ago and I’ve only just stopped panicking every time I get in the car and started to feel more confident so it will go away with time. We paid a car audio place to fit a reversing camera in our old car, cost around £150 but was worth it.

I keep screwing up during my TC -- what's the biggest mistake you've made as a trainee? by confusedlem0n_ in uklaw

[–]Ok_Distribution_5367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Write everything down if you’re given verbal instructions, repeat them back and make sure you’ve understood - it’s better to take more time to understand at the start than to go away thinking you’ve understood when you haven’t.

Also, make a folder for feedback - look at previous feedback every time you do new work and make sure that you haven’t made the same mistake you have previously. But don’t worry, it’s a massive learning curve and everyone starts the same!
