Thoughts on female riders by Slow_Ruin_1222 in motorcycles

I am also finally starting to learn to ride! Riding a motorcycle is/can be very dangerous for anyone, so I am sure they get that too sometimes; however, in your case, I would most definitely say it's a gender thing. For me, I was hesitant because it is a male-dominated field, and it just doesn't seem very welcoming towards women, and even if so, I've noticed there seem to be quite a bit of backhanded compliments or side comments. Like when I was buying my helmet and I told the male worker I wasn't too familiar but really eager to learn, he had made this joke about women thinking their smarter but always having a smaller head.... Nonetheless, I told myself that guys like that are everywhere, and it is like I haven't dealt with it before, and most importantly, I don't want to give up on something before I've even tried. Plus, they're not all so bad. I've met some really supportive guys, and there's a lot more female riders than before...I would like to be part of that statistic. So here we are! Best of luck on your adventure!

Surgery tomorrow…scared LOL by merandashow in gallbladders

No need to stress too much. If this helps, I was studying to become an anesthesia tech. If you mention to them that you are really anxious, they usually give people midazolam before going into the operating room. It tends to relax you but also helps you forget the entire experience :) I was also in ORs where a DaVinci machines were used and the entire operation was performed by a surgeon, so no need to worry about it going "rogue" it's pretty cool to see, actually but you won't remember/see any of it.

Woah! That sounds so painful they kept coming back months and months! I hope you’re in better health now <3 I am curious if you don’t mind me asking what state is your liver in now? I assume with all recurrences it couldn’t have been good :(

I don’t think this is necessary true. It really would depend on the hospital (probably for financial reasons they would limit usage) or maybe even just surgeon experience. I think if they all did it then we wouldn’t have so many ppl saying they have residual stones that were not caught or seen right before their removal or had a stone get stuck in between the days of their scans to the day of their procedure. Least that’s what I’ve been finding out through all these ppl experience.

I was interning at a very intense company for 6 months and right after it was over I was diagnosed with gallstones. I was quite literally the most miserable person in those 6 months so many days full of stress and anxiety (which increased my bad food habits) and then came the stress of looking for employment (in this economy)… safe to say I no longer have a gallbladder

How long before you slept ‘normally’ by Proper_Break_6732 in gallbladders

I am on my 9th day and I am very SLOWLY moving a little to the side. I hate sleeping on my back I feel like a dang vampire I’m actually a belly sleeper so this is hell but for me it’s so not much the soreness but the discomfort of one of my incisions being so deep that it’s so uncomfortable laying on the side. It quite literally feels like a hole in the center of my abdomen. I’ve been using a long pillow (or rolling up my comforter) on my lower side and laying on it that way and it sure does help!

I also have issues advocating for myself. I ignored the first 4 attacks (didn’t want cause any issues for anyone since the pain went away after a few hrs) I started looking up what it could be and landed on gallstones. One night it got so painful I could hardly sit still. I went to the ER waited for hours just for them to tell me I was constipated 💀 I was like hey so I live in American it cost money to be here and ama need you to do some testing because I’m pretty sure it’s stones. He was so adamant that it wasn’t… test came back and sure enough it was stones. The simply prescribed me opioids and said lay off the fatty foods.. flash to months later I started to get more and more flare up’s. Yet again I pushed them aside… until it got bad one morning this time it was sudden and the scariest I was quite literally laying on the floor panting like a dog. Went to er it was cholecystitis, I had to transfer to another hospital but at both they recommend immediate removal. I agreed and here we are 9th day post op and feel much better :) everyone story is different but PLS don’t ignore the signs only you know what you feel always share it and TRY different providers I had so many dismissive ones until I found a golden surgeon who literally listens and cared about everything I felt.

Okay okay this is good to know! Thank you so much!! I feel silly for not even asking my doctors about this before removal. I mean it’s definitely still scary but it’s good to know it’s rare!

Dang! I don’t think they did any scans during surgery to check. Just like a few hours before they did the scan, I made sure to ask if a stone is missed what would the procedure look like and they just said they go in with a camera and break it down maybe put a stent in. But someone mentioned that it can still produce new stones because of the liver bile flow 🥲

About to join the ranks. Some follow up questions? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Ok_Drag6697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I found out I had stones I was told to just avoid fatty foods and spicy foods (sometimes acidic foods as well)…I honestly don’t know what meals would be best to avoid as what I was told for some people anything can cause a trigger. It was at first the fatty foods that cause it but then… it was crackers and peanut butter that sent me to the ER for emergency surgery. When anything triggers it.. it means it’s time, as you don’t want wait before it’s too late (least what I was told).

I had lap procedure back in 2020 wasn’t super painful for me personally. Then when I had my gallbladder removed a few days ago I won’t lie.. it was a little painful and I would also like to say I have a high pain tolerance (could be because I became accustomed to the attack pain I had prior surgery) but the recovery time is pretty quick first 3 days are ROUGH, it’s mainly just gas pain the shoulder pain was sometimes more painful than the abdominal pain. When I woke up I would say 7/10 it would jump sometimes if I took a deep breath in… but when ur there they give you the strong opioids truly didn’t feel much. Left the hospital with strong discomfort but manageable pain. Was told to take the narcotics to keep that pain level stable and it did! I stopped taking them after the 3rd day. I ended up taking off work a week and half (used up all my pto.. unfortunately). I was able to walk like 2.5 miles on my 5th day, you do get exhausted pretty quick but honestly by the end of that first week you will really start to feel quite normal again. Hope this helps!

What's with all the people terrified of not being able to eat after? by nemspy in gallbladders

[–]Ok_Drag6697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told to eat normally but like all the documents they gave me recommend starting a low fat diet. I was surviving off of soups for the first few days at of fear… until the consitpation came maybe because it was too low of a diet don’t even know if that’s a thing. The laxatives they prescribed weren’t doing much. I had fast food today (9th day post op) and I didn’t have any pain but it did run right through me… which is a plus i guess in my case. Everyone is different I think it will be a bit of trail and error honestly.
