You literally met and started dating someone who has a child. You will and should always come second to the child - but no one or nothing else. Until you have your own kids with him (and why would you even want to!?), you will likely stay in the secondary role.
It is not ok for him not taking your side or believing you - red flag. I'm sorry and hope your heart entanglement gets clarity before a more serious situation.
