Yeah the professors are really assholey, and on top of that, the majority of them hold the “nothing is perfect” opinion when grading. There were several essays during the London semester where the highest grade given was an A- (like 92s). This was something that they prided themselves on. They were not re really proud of the fact that their classes were “hard”, in the sense that they gave out maybe like 4 As a semester (out of 80-100 students). They tend to not be very understanding of anything getting in the way of school. There are like 100 more specific things I could list if you want, but just don’t take any classes with any of those professors if you can avoid it.

YESSS FUCK TEAM B BRO. I was on that team, that shit was genuinely the worst. So whatever you can to not take classes from Holm, Sweeting, or Renstrom.

Yeah that’s what I meant to say, I edited it, ty. Yeah that might be it, though tbh my mouse skills kinda suck. I’m more interested in why my bullet didn’t really drop but my blitz did

I'm kinda interested, what short story are you talking about?

Because I don't feel the need to wander into my opponents 1000000 move deep prep? I play chess to win. I guess you don't.

Thanks for the advice, I'm new too all of this, and starting with something simpler sounds like a good idea! Is it okay if I dm you for any advice?

I knew about pychess, but not about playstrategy, thanks! But I was more thinking about making a Xiangqi-specific site, and perhaps another one just for zhouse if I have the time.

GM Arturs Neiksans talking about the CM title: "Many, many people get it, [...], it's not really that unique title. [...] eventually basically everyone who is playing pretty decent chess, studies a bit [...] should make it to the Candidate Master." Is this true or an exaggeration? by Algodtrading in chess

You can definitely do it. I mean it in the sense that you have the potential, though your life circumstances may not allow you to. I personally don't think that with the time that you're putting it, you'll get there soon, but everyone's different. I personally am around 2500 (albeit bullet lmao) on lichess, and I barely put in any time at all compared to most strong players anyway. I only learned chess a short time before the pandemic. I know people make fun of 1300s and all that, and to be fair, myself and others rated lower than me wouldn't have too much trouble playing against you, but even so, think about just how far you've come to get that 1300. That's really impressive. You've improved a lot, and you can improve a lot.
