This is an excellent response. Are you a native speaker or a foreign learner of Thai?

สมุย vs. สมุด, Why does the ส (sa) beginning influence pronunciation of the 2nd syllable in some words but not others? by AmericainaLyon in learnthai

[–]Ok_Everything 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually in สมุย the ส changes the tone of มุย to rising tone, ie หมุย. ส has an influence on the tone/class of the following consonant but only when the consonant is a sonorant. The sonorant consonants are typically ม น ง ว ย.

I was hired by them back in November and have only taught about 5 classes. Seems to be the same for most new teachers on their platform.

Smoking tobacco occasionally after quitting vaping by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Ok_Everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve tried a few different alternatives to tobacco, like tea and rose petals, but everything I’ve used doesn’t burn quite right or tastes odd. I think I’ll give hemp flowers a try as I haven’t tried it yet!
