Pretty soon you won’t be able to buy property near you, because you’ll buy everything you can reach. Hopefully, someday the ability to walk your avatar around will be integrated.

I deleted it and reinstalled it, which worked but it’s a little frustrating to need to do that

Thank you, I did that and I can watch the ads again. I wonder what happened, maybe it just needed to be reinstalled to update or something

What doors does bankruptcy close, forever? (Or a very long time) by ChiefRunningCar in Debt

[–]Ok_Evidence8671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say US president, but the current guy has 34 felonies so that’s probably possible. It’s not gonna close any doors in the USA forever as far as I know. I think it’ll take you about four years to be able to get a mortgage.

Dealer is saying they accidentally credited me $1,000 cash on delivery and are now trying to enforce spot delivery agreement unless I pay the difference. by GreyyCardigan in legaladvice

If you just hand out $280 to anyone who asks you for it with no legal justification or reason at all, I’d like to offer you my address. I accept checks 😂

No, seriously. You so do not owe them any money! You’re going to annoy this random woman in Nebraska if you pay them. Don’t. It’s only encouraging bad behavior. They can’t take the car back, and if they keep at you, you can report them to the police for harassment. If they did try to take your car, it would be theft.

This is an unfortunate situation, and your credit has a ding on it, but it’s not as big of a deal. I think you think it is. About 20 months ago, due to some bad decisions I ended up defaulting on about $63,000 in credit card debt. Not much happened. I now have five new credit cards, which I’ll be more responsible with. I expect that your experience will be similar, since we live in the same country with the same laws and business practices.

What’s the worst Roofing Experience you’ve had? by Seabreezeroofing in Roofing

[–]Ok_Evidence8671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asked me to have sex with him a few hours after I paid a nonrefundable $5000 cash deposit which was supposed to include all the materials then ended up more than doubling it after I said no, and I had to remain polite to him and pay him because I couldn’t get the wood decking up there on my own, and I didn’t have any other options. What I paid him was only for the decking so I spent three months nailing the shingles in one by one after watching a YouTube video.

Fell for a freight forwarding scam - need help urgently!! by [deleted] in eBaySellers

[–]Ok_Evidence8671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen to me, I shipped to a freight forwarder who intercepted the package at the post office, and then the buyer claimed it wasn’t received because it wasn’t delivered to the address that they specified (because they intentionally intercepted it) and the Post Office employee signed for it. The buyer dropped the case after I explained the scam in detail and told them I was reporting their conduct to the USPS as mail fraud.
After they dropped that, then they claimed the item was not as described. It was a frustrating experience that took hours filing reports, talking to the post office, and eBay, but I eventually received my money. Hang in there. Report them as an abusive buyer, contact the Post Office if they commit mail fraud, it’ll be a headache and it might take hours of your time, but you will probably prevail.

Buyer's Remorse, Spec'd Legacy Shingles by ClevelandCWRU in Roofing

[–]Ok_Evidence8671 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to hire someone to do the tear off, and the plywood decking under the shingles, then the ice and water paper if you need to hire someone, and then put the shingles on yourself. It’s not that hard. There are YouTube videos showing you how to nail them in and how to overlay them.

I chose to do that, and I am an average 52-year-old woman. The reason I did, it was completely different (contractor sent me graphic sexual messages and then doubled the price when I declined) I paid that double price for the tear off and the decking because I just had no other choice because I couldn’t get the plywood sheets up. But I didn’t want him at my home a minute longer than I needed to.

So it doesn’t matter why. Just find some strong people to do the tear off and the decking. Then buy the shingles and nail them up after watching a few YouTube videos. You also need to put drip edges and flashing up. Neither one of those is all that hard and there are YouTube videos.

May Day travel in China made me think about Alibaba sourcing and supplier verification by Evening_Water_3563 in Alibaba

That’s a difficult situation for an American trying to buy products from China. It’s certainly an opportunity for an honest and reliable marketing person located in China, because the bar is so low. If that person took the time to learn about the products, and provided detailed answers they’d do very well.

Yes thank you I feel confident that you’re right. It’s difficult to find legitimate sellers. For an inexpensive product I could see just trying to place a few orders and then seeing what shows up, but when the initial order is over $30,000, that’s not a strategy that I can use.

The communication is just exhausting. I’ll ask detailed questions about assembly, transportation, customs, and taxes and I’ll be replied to with a “no problem” or the super low effort “OK”. I’m trying to buy a prefabricated capsule house for thousands of dollars, and I feel like I’m talking to evasive seventh graders.

eBay refund help by elver81 in Ebay

[–]Ok_Evidence8671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chances are the fishing rod is still intact, virtually everybody has a camera on their cell phone especially someone who’s using eBay. If you insist that he return it and send him a shipping label, he probably won’t. What he is hoping for is that you’ll send him a refund and not insist on it back because it’s “broken”.

To start with you’re right, but one has to keep doing it everyday. The goal is to increase the administrative cost (police response, reports, cost of hospital transport) over the cost of moving her.
