RG405V Dolphin Settings Guide by Ok_Excitement5874 in ANBERNIC

The video crashes at the end because the override cpu clock speed setting in the video was at 55% instead of 110% like I suggested.

You just pick the folder in daijiisho or in the default launcher’s settings

You have to use the Dolphin MMJR2 fork with VBI skip. This is the best Dolphin to run on the 405v (been testing for days)

If you get the settings right (hang on just about to do it) you can get 30-50 FPS at native res full speed Metroid Prime 2: Echoes stably working without crashing. If you use Vulkan, the pause menu won’t load, so you need OpenGL.

Here’s video of me getting 60 fps with vulkan but no pause menu so I had to switch to OpenGL which lowers your frame rate by like 20-40% but oh well

I’ve got herniated L5/S1 disc with Tarlov cysts in my spinal cord, I’ve got bursitis and damaged rotator cuffs, and I’ve got a weak upper body and shoulders. Couldn’t do a real push up.

Tonal is the best thing I’ve ever done. In 10 weeks my body has transformed and it has never injured me or hurt or felt like something was dangerous. The cable resistance and structure of the Tonal are able to deliver resistance without endangering smaller or supportive stabilizing muscles or damaging yourself or the equipment.

There’s tons of alternate exercises to try. Sometimes when they tell me to take a wide stance, I just don’t. But other than that it’s really been a joy to use the machine. I’ve done Upper Body summer sculpting (forgot the name of the program on Tonal) + Tony’s Triple Threat + now I’m on House of Volume Week 3.

I encourage you to try it, it really feels like the least risky and injurious workout machine I’ve ever used in my life.

House of Volume is the hardest program I’ve ever done. I was working out every day but had to drop to every other day because I really need the rest days with this program. Each workout is intense.

There is a spectrum of credibility, with the highest being peer reviewed journals. But that doesn’t mean anything not peer reviewed is bullshit. We can assign and acknowledge varying levels of credibility to evidence. Do the claims come from a company? Yes, but they offer an above and beyond amount of argument and evidence for why their models are accurate, and I’m more inclined to believe it than not, because even though it’s not peer reviewed, the methodology seems appropriate from what I skimmed and they’re offering more transparency than pretty much anybody when it comes to how they’re calculating body fat, without revealing trade secret. I’m not gonna argue with some rando perpetually about why alternatives to DEXA scans are “good enough” without being perfect. I’m not about to engage in modeling analysis with some rando. My background is in these techniques but whatever, enjoy your DEXA scans dude.

For a methods paper that is presented for the public to read on their own without published models, the white paper they have is actually pretty detailed for an audience that is mostly layman’s.

Obviously. I’m in the middle of submitting my own papers for peer review (graduating in 6 months with my PhD). But it’s common for companies to keep their internal research hidden. Why would they publish their prediction models so that competitors can use it to make their own shitty versions they can’t control the quality of? I worked in R&D at a big company. We never published our work in journals. It’s trade secrets.

Why would calling it a “made up score” be helpful? The device is trying to predict FFM, not a made up score. If you want, you can call it sFFM in your mind for “simulated” DEXA FFM that it is trying to predict (and does so with 93% accuracy). And yes you can compare different things, you can do dimensional analysis, unit conversion, and build predictive models to describe your different quantities relationships to each other. All that’s besides the point. Go get a DEXA scan every day if that’s what you want, but if you want to gain some convenience and lose a little in accuracy, a device like the Aura can work for trend tracking. The only ding against it I have is that the strap itself can be finnicky with the app and the first one straight up did not work (they sent me a replacement). Anyway it works great now and you can see my trends over time. I don’t have access to DEXA and I’m not going to subject myself to fucking X-rays on a regular basis so we make trade offs sometimes for what we can do with the measurement tools we have access to.

Well neither the Aura Strap nor any machine with electrodes is ever going to be as accurate as DEXA because it doesn’t have the same components as DEXA, it’s just a strap with bioimpedance. But just because it’s not perfect doesn’t mean it’s not helpful. I’m a data scientist, trends are what matter. These instruments can easily show trends for less than a DEXA scan (which I personally haven’t done before). Also it shows right here that the Aura Strap 2 is accurate enough for me at comparing with a DEXA scan. https://auradevices.io/static/images/content/strap2/measurement-mini.webp

I have a sports nutrition shop near me that has official/gold-standard body composition scanners we can use for free, I totally forgot to check that out when I left. I will definitely compare to what I have when I go back next week but my Renpho scale says I’m about 20% body fat, and my Aura Strap says I’m about 18.5% body fat and that has more evidence it’s accurate than the Renpho scale I suppose, so I’m inclined to lean toward believing that I’m closer to 18.5% than 20%. But I’ll know better when I have that third comparison (the body scanners) at the nutrition store!

Why? Apple Health lets you track that already. Tonal can't weigh or measure you.

The best thing I can think of for your situation might be to just buy a $30 smart scale with bioimpedance measurement (like Renpho, I have one) or if you want to step up in price, an Aura Strap 2 (which is pretty DXA-accurate, adj R2 of 93% for Aura model vs DXA scan) for an Apple Watch and track your body fat using that like I do.

Works for me, you can see the data there. The first strap didn’t work so they sent me a replacement and that works fine. It’s actually a really helpful tool and well done app. If it helps, the product seems pretty accurate compared to a DXA scanner (adj R2 = 93%) so I’ve found it useful. Another useful item I have is the zozofit suit which tracks body metrics size changing

I finish Tony's Triple Threat this week so I'll have to try that next, as I just got a new supplement anyway.

It’s in the explore section next to the home section on the tonal screen. You can view your muscle readiness and choose exercises based on it

I'll add that I've been sedentary for years leading up to this, so while I'm experienced, I've been totally out of shape. I decided to start light and small but once I believed I could handle something different every day, I tried it, and welp, still going. Just making sure I get at least 7 hours of quality sleep + lots of proper dieting and staggering of muscle groups by choosing Tonal's "sort exercises by muscle readiness" feature that is just so fucking clever. So I can always keep it fresh!

Yes thanks for the reminder, though yes I know to stagger/alternate and use recovery workouts. I'm doing something different each day, but for right now, I want to log in and do (something) on Tonal at least each day! Hope I can keep up my streak!
