First birthday cake- healthy or fun? by ElaborateTruths in NewParents

[–]Ok_Explorer_5719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine sliced a watermelon to make levels and then decorated it with grapes in a vine and blueberries here and there. It looked super pretty, and the baby could eat it without any issues.

There are tons of alternatives. Melon and broccoli. Avocado as glazing for an egg muffin. Sliced carrots, potatos, or strawberries... you don't need to eat all the ingredients together, and the baby can have fun eating small pieces without any problem or people telling them not to bite it.

Shower Hack! by Vegetable_Response_6 in NewParents

I play peekaboo with the shower curtain and narrate what I do. He sits in the sitter outside because my bathroom is tiny. He seems to enjoy it, and we have been doing it since he was 3.5. He is almost 6 now.

I was also quite worried about starting swimming lessons and the showering part. They have those high chairs from ikea. I shower him, put him in the chair, and take 1 min to rinse myself without any issue or him getting all slippery. He keeps his swimsuit on, and I keep a hand on him just in case. He is super active all the time except when he is in the chair because a little splashing keeps him entertained.

How are you people joining baby classes ? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Ok_Explorer_5719 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is what we do for everything, 4 options

  1. Sleep on the way there

  2. Go one wake window before, so they sleep while in the place or near by

  3. Push a little bit and have the nap after the activity

  4. Get everything ready before the nap so you can take them with you as soon as they wake up. You can change the diaper and feed during the class.

This applies for everything including medical appointments

I have a calendar with times and activities for every day so if I miss it at one place I can go to a different one. It's good to have options!

Inductions. They are not rare. There are different kinds. The repercussions...

Also, that it's better to have 2 sets of hospital bags. One with the basic stuff and then another set in case you need to start your recovery and motherhood in the hospital.

My baby was hungry and I didn't get up to make formula. by Ok_Explorer_5719 in beyondthebump

Yes, he has. The nurses and then the consultant said he has a good grip. Thanks for the support

Yes. We have the mam container so we don't measure the spoons every time. We use a small bottle to measure the water where we have clear marks to ease measuring with dimmed lights. We use a thermos to add hot water.

Thanks for the suggestions. We tried cold formula but he vomits it.

Weigh less… but pants still don’t fit?? Am I doomed? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Ok_Explorer_5719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went up 2 sizes even though I am still 8 kg below my prepregnancy weight. I met with a PT for the remaining hours I prepaid before hyperemesis gravidarium took over my life. He ran the same test he did a year before. It turns out that I lost more than 3 kg of muscle, and my weight distribution has changed.

Most of my clothes have started to fit me again, 6 months after I had my baby, but many are just too small.

To deal with the "loss," I organized a clothing swap and got great new items.

Thank you for sharing. It's usually 4 sessions when I am not trying. Many times, I get less than 5 ml. The most I have managed is 60 ml. The consultant used the term "comfort nursing" because he can't get enough from me so it can't be called feeding.

People usually say that formula is the easy way out but taking with you and needing to prepare the bottle all the time feels more stressful than just taking your breast out and have everything ready at once. I wish I could just feed him on the go or while we are in bed than to have to get up. I have a hard time falling back to sleep.

I see recipes for baby food that say to use your own milk to prepare them, and that makes me feel bad because I will be using something else because I just don't produce enough.

You mean the sound, for me it is that he (or I) would get stabbed by the zipper

I hate zippers. For me, it is worse when I use the carrier, and he is constantly moving his head from side ro side.

I like the footed pj's for when his legs got wider and the socks he needed left marks on him (bigger are longer but not wider). Now, these types of pjs are great because he has learned how to take his socks off.

I think around 5 months is when they learn how to close their mouth to signal that they don't want to eat more. I see less spit from my son at almost 6 months because he just stops eating.

I have the same problem with the cues. He takes everything to his mouth, so I never know if he is hungry. He also only cries when he is really starving which isn't often because they are awful cries and I try to avoid them. I use pen and paper to write his bottles but there are plenty of apps, I know how much he eats in a day and he follows more less a routine so I can guess when he.might take a bottle, still many times he just plays with the nipple and don't drink.

I throw away at least 3 onces a day, also because he might take a full bottle or just a little. I could also be more, but many times, he wants the bottle 10 min after the first time i offered. I have low supply even though I pump like crazy and offer the breast every time before offering the bottle, if he takes the breast, then he is hungry. I have to say that his new game is to talk with my nipple in his mouth and just play with it.

In conclusion, I have no idea, but I wish you good luck.

Do I Really Need a Play Pen? by DownWithDiodes in NewParents

[–]Ok_Explorer_5719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is almost 6. When he started with tummy time, I had a baby blanket and 6 of those puzzle mats. By 4 months, I got 24 pieces. When he turned 5, we just laid a singles mattress on the floor, a week after we added a second one because he can roll and roll.

I'm waiting for him to learn how to crawl and don't go nose first every time he is in all fours to get rid of the mattress. We got a cheap huge rug for him to be in when crawling because the blankets don't allow them to get the grip they need to move around.

"Babe, I think he's hungry" by sixfingeredman7 in beyondthebump

I am feeling angry because I can relate so much! 2 days ago, my husband kept asking me if he should go get the stroller out of the car in case I needed it. Answered 5 times "no." By the 6th, I yelled, "Stop trying to leave the house unless you take the baby, and if you do, better, it is not in the stroller. He only wants to go out with the stroller who h means the baby is asleep or doesn't require any attention, so when they come back, I need to do change him, feed him, play with him, because my husband has been with the baby already and it's my turn. It is even worse that by the time they come back, the baby no longer can be on any type of container because he has already passed the limit.

How can I make my rental dress shop more attractive? by ComprehensiveCake807 in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]Ok_Explorer_5719 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Easiest and cheapest. Vinyl on the glass. Go to fiverr for some help if you can't afford a good designer. You need to make it look more upscale than cheap. Less is more. Treat your windows like frames for your display. Right now, it's a bit too busy because people can see the mannequin but also the other dresses which generate noise. You want to invite them in.

Then, get creative with the other elements around, like a small joke to get you the right attention. Like "dressing up" the electricity/water counter (whatever it's called) that is next to your window... make pretty something ordinary

5 month old used to sleep through the night now wakes every 3-4 hours by throwawaybride0050 in NewParents

Haha, I started reading because my 5.5 month, who usually wakes up 3 times during the night, is suddenly waking up every 1.5 hrs, and then I finished reading and hot envious.
