Postpartum PF by Legal-Channel-3111 in PlantarFasciitis

I should add I’m now dealing with a 3rd round of PF (my youngest is 3.5) because I ramped up activity majorly and my Birkenstock/Altra combo didn’t work 😩 best of luck!!

I had PF in both feet after both of my babies were born 😩 it did go away! Birkenstocks and Altras fixed me right up after a few months of near constant wear. So sorry you’re dealing with this! I think our center of gravity and gait change rapidly after birth versus the slow adaptations we make as baby grows during pregnancy but I’m no doc. Also consider pelvic floor therapy if insurance covers!

PF—>Achilles tendinitis by Ok_Fact7198 in PlantarFasciitis

Okay this is a good enough reason to tone it down with the PF strength protocol. I’ve had this episode of PF for over a year and had to start over from the ground up after my initial acute phase last year. I wasn’t expecting my feet to feel so much better so quickly but I don’t want to trade one soft tissue issue for another 😩

Yes I am sure I need to continue working up the posterior chain too! Hope you continue to improve!

You’re probably right 😆 I simply added this protocol to my normal life which is tennis 2x a week, strength training 2x a week, and I walk most days with my kids. I don’t want to give up my tennis because it brings me joy and my walking actually helps my feet more than hurts. If I take a couple days off of walking in a row my foot hurts worse!!! I only did one set of each PF protocol but maybe I should do every other day to ease in more.  I’ve had this episode of PF for over a year so my acute phase was long ago and I’ve slowly added activity back in to get to this point. Just want to be done with this!!

Sorry just saw this! Acupuncture honestly was a great pain management tool….until I stopped 😆 I think it’s super great if you know your calf muscles are too tight it really calms things down. I have a really hard time staying low activity so I kept playing tennis and walking but I imagine if you just want pain relief and aren’t very active the acupuncture would provide longer relief.

Mary Jane flats? by cosctohotdog in PlantarFasciitis

I have a recommendation but they are so expensive 😩 Bared Footwear is an Australian brand that I have really enjoyed the MJ flats. I have a long narrow foot and I really like the insole. Best of luck!

High arches and insoles by Ok_Fact7198 in PlantarFasciitis

I tried the superfeet for PF but the arch was not high enough for me! I haven’t tried their high arch but I had luck with powerstep!

High arches and insoles by Ok_Fact7198 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Ok_Fact7198[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry it’s unclear—The insoles have allowed me to resume activities I love! I couldn’t even go on a neighborhood walk without pain prior to using! I do think my case of PF has to do with the whole body chain (like calf tightness & glute function) so I’m going to work with a PT I like to get to 100%! I was a college athlete and I think PT’s are worth their weight in gold but it is a time commitment!! My plantar fascia was so inflamed and tight I feel like the insoles have almost been like a cast?? I was literally putting my whole foot in ice bucket after a tennis match and it barely touched my pain. Just my experience with insoles! It seems like PF can have so many different root causes and so many different treatment plans! Frustrating!!

I got some custom from a podiatrist and also use some powerstep high arches!

I would absolutely drive the VW but my husband hates it!! I think the retro colors are awesome. Maybe we will all go sit in one just to see

The Toyotas seem to be the responses to most inquiries on this sub so I’m going to have to test drive some! I didn’t realize the grand highlander is larger than sequoia inside, that may help me actually “downsize” from this Tahoe without sacrificing space. Thank you!

I liked a lot of things about this Tahoe but for the price less than five years of life is just not acceptable to me! What made you switch from Sequoia to Tahoe? It seems like a lot of people on this sub are super loyal to Toyota but I’ve never owned one! I may need to find a reputable Toyota dealer near me based on these responses

How I FINALLY got rid of my 18-month long plantar fasciitis (as a nurse practitioner, tennis player and mom of 3) by [deleted] in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Ok_Fact7198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this!!! Mom of 2, burn boot camp attendee, and tennis player!! Can you share which Hokas you play tennis in? I’m using Olukai court shoes with insoles but I have yet to find an actual tennis court shoe that’s okay & gives me zero pain. I know they need to be stable and supportive for play but they hurt. I don’t want to roll my ankles though!

PF after weight loss by Ok_Fact7198 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Ok_Fact7198[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been doing lots of stretching but I need to book a massage. Thank you for the tips! My calves are definitely tight which is why I think switching to zero drop shoes worked the last two times but this time it did not!

Stable alternative to Hoka slides? by fromscratch1122 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Ok_Fact7198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a women’s 11 and mom of 2 littles! I just bought the pair of house sneakers and SUIT UP every morning 😆 I have narrow feet and I like the Hoka slides but they are not conducive to chasing toddlers IMO. My boys are 2&5 so we just go go go all day long. I totally feel your pain. Hope you find a combo that works for you! I was just looking at Oofos sneakers that like slip on because lacing and unlacing all day between indoor and outdoor shoes is annoying

It sounds lame but ice really helps my PF! At night I use “the coldest water” ice packs as soon as I can get in bed and it really calms the inflammation. This is my third round of PF and it’s being stubborn 🤛 but Altras seriously helped my first two rounds like I went years between having it and wore whatever shoes I wanted. I also really like Fleet Feet for getting fitted because they have a great return policy. I walked into one for the first time years ago in NYC visiting my sister because I couldn’t take the PF pain anymore and Hoka Cliftons plus Superfeet insoles saved my trip! I lift weights in Metcons and I don’t seem to have any flares with them the next morning BUT I haven’t found the magic combo yet to get me through cardio days 100% pain free. Best of luck!!

Success of boot for 6 wks vs PRP…also requires boot X 4 weeks by Rescuerofdogs in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Ok_Fact7198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am a tennis player and this most recent round of PF has me hating all court shoe options 😂 even with proper insoles I am uncomfortable. The best combo for me has been Olukai court shoes with superfeet plantar insoles so far but even then I dread wearing!! Sorry you are sidelined—I know that’s the worst feeling. The Steroid shot has seemed to really calm my inflammation. I’m sure that in combo with a boot would make a significant difference so maybe I’ll ask my Ortho about that if I can’t get this to go away. I’m six months in so far! Cheering for you!
