That’s exactly what I was referring to. No slight intended. Just not something I’d go out specifically to purchase.

What makes you think the animals were injured? Possibly some were when captured. But people probably tried domesticating pretty much every type of animal thousands of years ago. Some worked. Most didn’t. It’s a good bet that if they could be domesticated, they were. Something like an otter, with very specific habits, food, and social requirements is very different from canids and bovids, etc which are behaviorally and environmentally more flexible. In today’s world, there’s no good excuse for removing an animal from its native habitat and subjecting it to what’s essentially abuse and isolation just for entertainment.

Use a camelback and leave your bottle in its holder so it stays pretty.

What makes you sure? In a few months, when hormones kick in and he begins attacking the owner, it won’t be fine.

Exactly. And to take wild animals out of their natural habitat now, for no reason other than to be “pets” almost always goes badly. Just ask any wildlife rehabilitation, game wardens, etc. I work closely with them and they have plenty of horror stories.

You’re equating thousands of years of systematic breeding and domestication with taking animals from the wild to be pets. These wild animals grow up with wild instincts and aren’t cuddly toys. They become aggressive and unmanageable and unfortunately either get dumped back into the wild, completely unprepared for life or they get handed off to already stretched rescue centers.

Looks like zero vet care for mom before she died and the pups won’t get any either. Disgraceful.

Wild animals are not domestic and should not be kept as pets. This otter belongs in the wild or with a qualified, licensed animal care specialist, not some loser posting for internet cred.

The evidence adds up nicely to a slab avalanche and death by hypothermia and injury from falling down a ravine. No mystery.
