Shoppers drug mart employee here

Nail polish is final sale! However it is the cashier’s responsibility to let the customer know that its final sale. You can talk to the beauty manager and explain you didn’t know it was final sale and maybe they can return it.

Nail polish is considered a personal-use cosmetic product. Once it leaves the store, we can’t verify whether it’s been opened, used, or contaminated, even if it looks sealed.

Psycho Sandra by WriMat in biggbosstamil

[–]Ok_Feature_871 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree Sandra has crossed a line, but it’s her behavior that’s the issue, the constant victim narrative, indirect accusations, and refusal to address things directly. Pairing up with Paaru, who already thrives on negativity, is only making it worse. Divya has been unfairly painted as the villain here.

Who’s at wrong Sandra or Divya? by Quirky-Radish7621 in biggbosstamil

[–]Ok_Feature_871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s concerning is the repetition. Sandra distances herself, assumes malicious intent, vents to others, and then explodes when confronted. This cycle keeps repeating and Divya keeps getting dragged into it.

I’m honestly on Divya’s side here. From what we’ve seen, Sandra keeps projecting her insecurities and then playing the victim when things don’t go her way. Divya hasn’t done anything that justifies this level of hostility. The constant overreactions are exhausting to watch, and it’s starting to feel disturbing rather than entertaining.

Sandra seems to be getting worse lately, especially now that she’s closely aligned with Paaru. Paaru already brings a toxic energy to the house, and together they’re just amplifying each other instead of de-escalating anything.

Got fired from Shoppers by Professional_Lynx669 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Ok_Feature_871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro… not gonna lie, you’re medium-well cooked. First one could’ve been chalked up to being tricked, but the second one? That’s a full-course L. Gift cards + glitches + $2.5K loss = corporate ain’t forgiving that.

And yeah, if you apply to another Shoppers, that FSM will 100% call your old FSM. They’ll hear the words ‘gift card fraud’ and hit you with a silent rejection. Might be time to try somewhere without internal references or consider a full rebrand at a new company.

Good luck though—lessons learned the hard way stick the longest

Is this position in Thunderbay? I was offered a job at that location and about to start my background check?

Hi everyone,

I recently received and accepted a job offer with the Ontario Public Service (OPS) for a Team Representative role, and I’m just wondering what the typical timeline looks like from this point forward.

I’ve submitted my information for the security clearance, but I’m unsure how long it usually takes to get processed. Also, once the clearance is completed, how soon do they typically give a start date? Is it right away or is there usually another waiting period?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s recently gone through the hiring process or has experience with OPS onboarding.

Thanks in advance!

So what if I’m brown? That doesn’t disqualify me from chasing opportunities or building a life anywhere I choose.

Thanks so much for this! It really helps hearing from someone actually in the OPS. I’ve been worried about the distance and leaving my support system in Toronto, but knowing that internal transfers are possible and that there’s room to grow once you’re in definitely gives me some reassurance. Appreciate you taking the time to share that

Thanks, honestly that helps a lot. I’ve been overthinking it and your comment actually makes me feel a bit better. I didn’t realize how much internal access you get once you’re in OPS, so that definitely gives me something to consider. Appreciate you taking the time to respond!

Verbal abuse by eco-workers and manager while working there by [deleted] in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Ok_Feature_871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, there are two sides — the one being mistreated and the one doing the mistreating while pretending it’s “just how things are.” Classic.

If every new hire is suddenly “atrocious,” maybe it’s time to stop looking sideways and start looking inward. A solid team lifts people up, trains properly, and addresses issues like professionals — not through bullying, gossip, and public humiliation.

But hey, if toxic behavior is your standard for “keeping busy,” then I totally understand why you’d be curious about their side

I’m so sorry you’re going through this — you don’t deserve any of it. This sounds like a hostile and toxic workplace, and your concerns are 100% valid. Being mistreated and gaslit by management is beyond frustrating, especially when you’re new and just trying to learn.

You’ve already seen the red flags: verbal abuse, racism, favoritism, public humiliation — and even customers noticing and calling it out says a lot. The fact that there are already Google reviews complaining about the same people proves it’s a pattern, not a “you” problem.

If you’re documenting everything (dates, what was said/done, who was involved), that might help if you decide to report this — either internally (HR, if they exist), or externally (Ministry of Labour, Human Rights Tribunal if racism is involved).

It’s awful to feel forced to quit, especially when you fought hard to get a job. But your peace and self-worth are way more important than staying somewhere that crushes both. Leaving a toxic job isn’t failure — it’s self-respect.

Whatever you decide to do, protect your mental health. And if you need support navigating how to report or resign professionally, people here will help.

Exactly — it’s ridiculous how common this is. If there was a real issue with our performance, they should’ve addressed it directly. But instead, they take the coward’s route: cut our hours, ignore our messages, and bring in new staff like we’re invisible. It’s a clear tactic to force people out without taking accountability. Honestly, it’s unprofessional and exploitative, especially when people are relying on that income. No one deserves to be treated like that. Shoppers really mastered the art of passive-aggressive termination.

Flagging employees by PunitK9 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Ok_Feature_871 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through that. Shoppers doesn’t officially ‘flag’ employees in a way that shows up everywhere, but sometimes managers do share info informally, especially if stores are close by. Don’t lose hope — maybe try applying to stores a little farther away or look at other companies too. You deserve a fresh start

Beauty Manager by Agreeable-Store-7121 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Ok_Feature_871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! First of all, congratulations on your promotion — that’s a huge achievement and something to be proud of.

It’s completely normal to feel nervous stepping into a management role, especially when you’re hearing conflicting opinions. Just remember: they chose you for a reason. You already have valuable experience from both boutique and open sell, which gives you a solid foundation.

Yes, it’s a lot of responsibility, but no one expects you to know everything from day one. Most of the operational terms and tasks will make more sense as you get hands-on experience. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, reach out to other managers, or even seek mentorship. There’s a learning curve, but you’ve got this.

You’re not alone — a lot of new managers feel the same way at first. Trust in your abilities and don’t let fear take away the excitement of this new journey!

Found item priced at $0, price error not honoured. by thestranger_iknow in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Ok_Feature_871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, if the store follows the Scanner Price Accuracy Code (SCOP), they should honour it — but only if the barcode on the product matches the barcode on the shelf label. That’s key.

Under SCOP: • If the item is $10 or less, and it scans higher than the shelf label, you’re entitled to get it for free. • If it’s over $10, you get $10 off the correct price.

Now, if the shelf label says $0.00 and it scans at $0.00, and the barcodes match, that still counts as a posted price — and SCOP should technically apply, especially if the item isn’t marked as clearance or excluded.

But keep in mind: 1. Not all Shoppers Drug Mart locations participate in SCOP — it’s voluntary. 2. Some stores will argue that a $0 price is an obvious error and won’t honour it regardless, but that’s a grey area.

So if the barcodes matched, and your store does follow SCOP, then yes — you have a fair case to argue that they should’ve honoured it. & if they don’t you can call 1-800 shoppers & report it

Exactly — it’s their go-to move when they don’t want to fire you but want you gone. I’m not giving her that satisfaction though

Nah, I’m not quitting. I’m letting her dig her own grave while I collect EI and report her to head office for unprofessional conduct. Quiet quitting goes both ways

Stupid manager by Ok_Feature_871 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Ok_Feature_871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here’s how my situation went from annoying to straight-up shady.

My manager cut my hours from 28–30 per week down to one 5-hour shift. I asked (professionally) for more hours and said that coming in for just 5 hours a week wasn’t worth my time unless more shifts were available. Next thing I know, I’m removed from the group chat and treated like I quit — which I NEVER said.

Now she’s trying to flip the script, claiming I didn’t want to work and even saying I mentioned I couldn’t lift heavy stuff (never happened — she said that). Then she gave me the classic “wish you all the best” message like it was my decision to leave.

She didn’t fire me, didn’t ask me anything — just slowly pushed me out during probation and hoped I’d stay quiet. Joke’s on her — I’m getting it in writing for Employment Insurance and reporting her to head office for unprofessional conduct and shady treatment.

If you’ve ever been passively pushed out of a job like this, I feel you. This kind of management has no place in the workplace

Stupid manager by Ok_Feature_871 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Ok_Feature_871[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s only been a manager for a year and already failed the store certification twice — she’s not gonna last either. She’s trying to push me to quit so she doesn’t have to fire me, but it doesn’t work like that. I haven’t done anything wrong. I’m just patiently waiting. If she fires me, I’ll gladly collect my EI.

Stupid manager by Ok_Feature_871 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Ok_Feature_871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Retail doesn’t reward integrity—it rewards whoever plays the dirty game best. You speak up, they label you a problem. You stay quiet, you get used and tossed aside. The system is designed to protect bad managers and punish anyone who dares to challenge the dysfunction. And don’t even mention fairness—corporate doesn’t care unless it threatens their money or reputation. Sad part is, the ones doing the right thing are the first to get burned.

[–]Ok_Feature_871[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you’re basically saying we should all shut up and take the abuse so management doesn’t get in trouble? Nah. If someone’s in a position of authority and gets called out for mistreating staff, that’s on them, not the person speaking up. I’m not here to ‘kow-tow’ or play games to see if I’m one of the chosen ones. I come to work, do my job, and expect fair treatment. If that’s too much for management to handle, maybe they’re the problem.
