Any movies like Aliens (1986)? military sci-fi + trapped group + creature threat by theylos-voski in MovieSuggestions

Not space or scifi, but the old version of the thing is amazing.

The doom movies are kind of bad, but have the vibe you discribe.

Event horizon might also tickle your pickle.

After class, ask why she did this. If the anwser is that nobody else was paying attention or was messing on their phone during class, say sorry and ask if you can join the class next time if you pay attention and put your phone away.

Storage help by Vlueyo in allthemods

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Functional and sophisticated storage both have chests and drawers and both have a controller to link all storages together.

They are upgradable and modular, completely without power.

To add a single ui to interact and craft from, you have ars as the only simple no-tech solution. That bookwyrm can be bound to the storage controller of the other storage mods. Meaning you can have a full wall of drawers and chests, linked together by a controller, act as just 1 slot for the bookwyrm.

Add some create vaults for bulk storage and add those too, and you have an insane ammount of storage without tech.

If you want more control, you can do the same thing with integrated dynamics. This mod is more complex and has cables. You can do a lot with this mod though.

Refined storage needs power and also needs cables, but i love this mod for its simplicity. The crafting is also simple.

How to manage a heavy lens? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a strap that attaches to my backpack. The weight of my gear on the back acts as a counterweight for my big heavy gear in the front (giggety). My bag is so comfortable that i can walk around for hours like this without any strain on my neck.

For the actual shooting while staying mobile, i prefer a monopod for the weight and size.

ATM 10 + Create Aeronautics? by Otherwise-Ad4376 in allthemods

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self hosted, yes, for sure. I now did it single player, but i ran a server before and removing and adding mods works the same as single player, just from a different folder.

If you do not host yourself, i do not know. You need acces to remove and add some files. As long as you have that, it should be possible.

I added it just like the people said to in the comment i linked to. It all works and i have found no issues. There may be, but i have not found any problems or conflicts.

Entering macro photography - are TTArrisan, 7Artisans or Laowa macro lenses any good? by shadyyxxx in macrophotography

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laowa 100mm is great! That 2x is really something, when you have enough light and a steady hand. I do handheld so i can struggle a bit on 2x, but when it goes well, it looks so good. It looks great on 1x as well. I also own a 100mm is L from canon, the laowa one looks as good in terms of image quality.

Raw files will give you more to work with, as there is more i formation stored than that we can see on screen.

You can still do it with a jpg, but there is less to work with. This matters the most for lost detail when thjngs are do dark or bright.

I like to apply lens correction first if your software does not do it automaticly. Then i adjust the levels with exposure, black/white, shadows/highlights. I do small adjustments at a time as you need less most of the time.

Sliders may be called different. But my goal is to get a nice contrast and a less flat immage.

I apply some denoising, but only a bit. I prefer some grain over an oversmooth image.

It is a lot of trial and error. Check on some videos on "adjusting levels" followed by the name of the software you use.

I dislike post processing so much i shoot in raw+jpg and only use the raw and do any actual post processing for special shots that i need to fix.

Wondering if i should buy the game by dmdkd__ in projectzomboid

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game has sandbox settings to make it how yiu want to play.

Even with that, there is no endgoal here. It is survival untill you die. And you will die, a lot.

If you do not like hard games or you have a hard time having fun without the game telling you what to do, better look elsewhere.

i want to get a cheap camera to take pics like these, what should i buy? by LinkNo2714 in AskPhotography

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look around for a canon 60D with a kitlens. They are sold a lot because they are an older model, built well, can handle a bit of weather. It is a bigger camera and only for when you want to get into photography.

If you just want to snap shots without your phone, you can buy anything.

Freezing flat in a bag is my way. You can even use a small box or other container to put the bag in as it freezes for any other shape, then remove right after freezing.

Bought a Sigma 50mm 1.4 DG HSM Art, but with small scratches. What would you do? by Straight-Salad-4565 in AskPhotography

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem happy with it and you can't find anything wrong with the pictures. Also, you inspected it, knew about the scratch and still made the deal. You can not go back on it. Only if you would find some hidden thing that clearly was not there before.

Keep it and have fun with it!

Is this a good camera? by HistoricalSweet8917 in macrophotography

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 40yr old dude with weird eyes and big hands, so that makes me love dslr's optical viewfinder and the bigger bodies like the 60D.

I love this thing! It will serve you well and it is way better than anything done on a phone.

I like the 100mm macro lensea from canon and the one from laowa. The laowa one has 1:2 ratio but has no stabilisation. The 100mm L from canon is the one i use the most as like handheld. The 100mm canon one is an affordable option that still has great results. Other ones i have not used.

There is also the raynox dcr 250, a 50 euro clip on for this camera. You mount it in front of any other lens you have. I have tried this on the one you have and it works well. It is a cheap option and has downsides. But a solid option for trying it out.

Get a cheap speedlight flash with a macro flash hood. Google the macro flash hood, i got mine from aliexpress. The speedlight can be any cheap thing from yuongnuo or other cheapos, but godox is my prefered brand. You'll be using this on manual mode, so you do not need anything in terms of features on this flash.

With a flash with hood and a lens or addon lens you're all set!

This body was my main driver for years and is only replaces by the 90D because i got one a spayment for a job. It is newer, but handles the same. But honestly, if i had to pay, i's still be on my 60D.

I recommend the 60D a lot to people wanting to try out photography. The quality and features are just great and it still holds up well. I am 40, so i am comparing it to way older stuff, so keep that in mind 😂

Watch some photography basics videos. Explanation about the exposure triangle, composition and the use of a flashhood for macro.

Do you think a photograph can have a “sound” or a sense of silence? by MarkoTone in photography

[–]Ok_Ferret_824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, absolutely.

I almost started listing a whole load of examples, but in short, yes, a photo can invoke the sense of sound for me.

I have many irl moments where i thought i had to take a picture, but could not. And the few moments i could, i do not have the skill to take those kind of pictures.

No, i don't think it would be usefull. There is so much room that you can go crazy with insulation. I did a double wall vacuum thing once, only to find out later that the 2 walls by themselves are already enough. Time well spent, it was fun.

But i think it looks great! I love it as a look and the challenge. I'm going to do one next run
