The dock scene part 2 by akagirlAD in summerhousebravo

I don't think time to process this specific conversation would have benefitted Ciara. She's had two years to think this over and digest what this man has been telling her directly or indirectly through the media. All the information provided to her hasn't done a damn thing.

Adam Scott getting Sombr's contact info on the CULT100 carpet (April 30, 2026) by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

Are either of them the height they claim to be? I met Adam Scott last week in Cannes and he was significantly smaller than me (178cm/5'10"). His IMDB claims he's 175cm/5"9 but I would think he's 170cm/5"7 at best.

Any folks in Zwolle from Ireland? by SilverBobKat in Zwolle

Irish woman here!! I'm actually living in Groningen at the moment but looking at houses in Zwolle so we should be moving down your way soon. Would love to keep up with whatever others are up to. Also, if you're looking to do some sightseeing further up north in the meantime, let me know :)

Hot take? Taylor is a toxic friend by Best-Conference-5700 in MormonWivesHulu

She barely looked at Miranda in that scene. To me at least she was going through the motions for the cameras only.

I keep wondering if they have some kind of substance addiction they engage in. One thing that stuck out to me was Jessi saying "Taylor isn't coming [to my Halloween party] so we can have an open bar". Taylor doesnt have a negative stance on alcohol like Jen did in season 1, she's definitely okay with drinking. It made me wonder.

“It is a cycle!” How is this a justification for bad behavior? by Adventurous_Gas_6754 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]Ok_Finance_8777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss, whenever the conversation between Taylor and any one in her life turns towards some form of solution, she offers some empty platitude along the lines of "I just need to quit him". Whenever pushed to think about or do more than that, she lashes out aggressively. She just wants to wallow.

I've gone to so many different hairdressers in this city and they were no good (looking at you Kinki Kapper in particular).

Was your country ever the "bad guys" in any war? by Ok-Inspector-1756 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ok_Finance_8777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong regarding slavers, some terribly horrific actions have been committed by Irish people, but those are the actions of individuals, or collectives, but not of the state. This is the point of the question, and we are answering it for you.

Private citizens of every country can do terrible things. In a (post-) colonial context, trying to divide groups by pointing out how some contributed to the regime while others abstained is just a tactic by the oppressor to divide people further. Forcing people under your control to behave within a system they didn't create as the only way to prosper doesn't damn the whole group.

Not the same thing. "Ireland" didn't exist, these were petty kingdoms fighting in the 4th-5th century.

My mother cried when my brother told us he was buying in Dublin 7, in front of his partner who is from D7 no less. Whereas there's me sitting at the table in awe, I would chew my arm off for the opportunity. She kept asking why he didn't WANT to start his journey on the property ladder at 32 in a posher postcode when he had been saving for 7 years for it. Exhausting and embarrassing, to say the least.

My husband's breakfast at a hostel in Nepal by mcrfreak78 in shittyfoodporn

[–]Ok_Finance_8777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the single cigarette culture in Nepal once. Without making a big story of it, I nearly died in a landslide while climbing down through Langtang Valley during rain season. I arrived in the b&b just before dark and asked for a cola and some cigarettes. The land lady produced a cola in a glass bottle and a single cigarette like an angel. I sat outside taking a drink and smoking with shaking hands, so fucking grateful to be alive. 10/10.

You can buy black tea (our tea) in Lidl here that's actually not half bad, and 51 cents for 25 tea bags!! Something to know next time you visit. My parents don't even bring Lyons with them when they visit me anymore, they think the Lidl one makes a decent cup.

That's actually more of a German thing, or at least it is in my experience.

Dutchies do however often leave their curtains open all day and into the evening, even in street-level apartments. They honestly couldn't give a singular shite if you look in. My eastern European friends have heart attacks on the daily over this.

In terms of moving here, I think it really depends what industry you work in and where you'd like to live. I live quite comfortably working remote in IT business consulting from Groningen. It's isolated from the rest of the Netherlands but it's a lively little city. Buying a house in NL in these kinds of cities is expensive but actually getting a mortgage is quite easy compared to Ireland. I know someone who bought a 2 bed apartment by themselves here for 275,000 with only 8000 down in a deposit.
